The Good:
Appointment scheduled with ease, on time for appointment.
The Bad: From the moment we entered garage (where our water heater is located) I got the strong feeling the tech was on a mission to find something wrong and in need of repair. Right away he said he could smell gas and then put a hand held device down by the valve that controls temp and shuts on and off the heater and said there is a leak in the valve. I told him I didn't smell any gas and he had me bend down to the valve and take a
, but I still did not smell anything. He said the valve probably needed to be replaced, that as a plumber when he found leaks he was required to shut off the gas until repairs could be made, I was shocked.
I argued with him about it -- I had family coming in for the weekend that very afternoon so we needed the gas on, I told him I had serious doubts about what he was telling me because the garage is kept closed up, I enter the garage frequently and have never smelled any gas which would be the case if we had a gas leak and as far as the device indicating a gas leak, it didn't measure the presence of gas (make a sound) until he placed it right down on the valve. I told him I didn't feel comfortable with his assessment and I would want a second opinion before any repair was made. I couldn't get a second opinion that day. He backed down right away and said since the heater was located in the garage and not the house he wouldn't have to shut off the gas-- like he was doing me a favor. He then began to look at the age of heater, said it wasn't the right size heater for my size of home, looked at the piping and said it was incorrectly done, etc. I told him the heater was working fine, I hadn't had any problems with it, and I wasn't interested in replacing it at this time because I planned to do some remodeling soon and was considering going with the new on demand hot water system. He said they install those and offered to get me a proposal on installing that system. He explained he couldn't flush the heater because the way the heater was piped they had tied into outlet you typically use to release the water from the heater. So understandable he couldn't do the water heater flush. He looked it over and it was apparent he didn't really understand how it was piped to the house - previous owner had told me they had added a pressure assist to the heater to deliver hot water from the detached garage to the house more quickly and with greater pressure. I don't know if this was done correctly but since I was planning on replacing with a new system in the near future I wasn't interested in making any changes as long as it was working fine.
Bottom line, the tech's approach to the inspection, other comments he made , all negative , just sounded like he was intent on finding a necessary repair right away and pressure me into doing the repair. I purchased the Angie's deal to get what I felt was necessary maintenance to my hot water heater and to get an idea if there were any other plumbing problems that I might need to address and get estimates . For the businesses, I know these deals are used to gain leads for them on additional work, and I have purchased several deals for various things, but typically the companies make recommendations about anything they view as needing repair or replacement and give you an estimate of what they would charge to do it, etc. I have never felt pressured to use their services or felt they were intent on finding something wrong, like I did here.
However, please note, it may have just been this techs approach, so I don't want to trash the company as a whole. I didn't feel comfortable letting him perform the rest of the plumbing tests and inspection so I told him I didn't want him to continue and to consider the fee a trip charge, I wouldn't be requesting a refund.
He said he would still get me an estimate on installing a demand water system and would send me an email report.
He did send me an email report that basically said he didn't perform the plumbing check items. He never sent me an estimate for the on demand system which was OK because I would never have felt comfortable hiring him to install it. Just the way the tech approached the inspection and heater flush left a bad taste in my mouth - it was like he was threatening to turn off my gas if I didn't let him replace the valve. It just felt wrong, particularly when I saw no indication (smell test) that it really needed replacing.

I thought will save some money buying the coupon of $200 for $127 ....and expected the
will be around $250. My Garbage disposal was installed only a year back and was sure, something was stuck in it and did not need to be replaced. First the service indicated they generally do the job within a few days ...however it took 5-6 days to set an appoinment which was a week later. He did arrive at the said time ..no greeting, smile, small talk ...just serious, as if he was doing me a huge favor. Anyway my bathroom faucet came off the threads ...he right away fixed it which took less than 5 mins. When he gave me the quote to replace garbage disposal for $450 and Kitchen Faucet for $299 and then he quoted $279 to replace a
Flap valve in the commode(which I did not agree)...did not believe it......Since I paid $200 for coupon and did not want to be bothered with it...I gave the go ahead ....Now I regret it. Incidentally a few weeks back I stopped by at a construction site on my street and asked the plumber to give a quote on the job...he said $200 which I thought was more at that time.
I never leave bad reviews...but this was not right...

These people are great people, and I really enjoyed meeting them and interacting with them.
They care about doing a good job.
They were responsive to my phone calls and emails.
They were flexible with my method of payment.
They were great about coming back several times to fix what was not done correctly the first time. That's why I gave a B for quality.... wasn't done correctly the first time.
They are definitely expensive.
The project took longer than what was communicated. Instead of 3 weeks, it took more than 5 weeks until the project was completed correctly. (which includes the two mornings we, at the "last minute" requested late arrival.) That's why I gave a B for punctuality.

Plumber arrived on time, changed out gasket but discovered we needed additional work because of the wrong gasket was used when the house was built. I appreciated his detailed explanation of the bigger issue that may have gone unnoticed and in the long run saved us money in repairs. Will use this company again.

When they tried to unplug the line, they discovered the pluggage may be city's responsibility. Thus, they called the city to come to unplug the line. They did not even charge me for unplugging the line and only charged me the service fee of $49. They are really honest, more than fair, and professional people, and I really appreciate. Before their service, someone else tried to unplug the line and could not locate the clean out drain and asked me to locate it. They were going to charge me additional if I asked them to locate. After about 10 minutes try, they did not unplug the line and said my line is broken. They wanted me to fix the line for enormous amount. I told them no, and they left but want to charge me $225 for coming, and I refused. This is an example of night and day difference. I will refer and reuse
