Houston Carpal Tunnel Reviews

"Dr. Nolla was referred to me by a former patient of his, after another dr. had botched surgery on my left ring finger (which is pretty important for a woman). The finger was bent at the middle joint and would not extend at all. Dr.

took x-rays and measurements, asked a number of questions, and gave me several options. He said he wanted me to come back in a month, because he wanted to give some thought to the best way to correct it. When I came back, he decided that surgery was the best option. He told me that my finger would probably not be completely straight after the surgery, and that the joint would be a little swollen (which is exactly what happened) The clinic worked with me to get the most convenient date. I had to stay awake during the surgery, so that he could ask me to straighten my finger, after he removed all the scar tissue. During the surgery, a nurse came in and told him another doctor wanted to trade with him for an on-call date, and he replied sternly, "I am working." I appreciated his unwillingness to let anyone distract his attention from his surgery. Also, just as he was about to close, my finger turned white, an indication of a possible blood clot, and I heard him treat it as a dire emergency. Two unpleasant things: the nurse forgot to update, or give my husband any information about how the surgery was going. Because of the extra time due to the possible blood clot, it was late and the office closed and my husband was left in the waiting room without any info about me....and getting very concerned. Also, when they flushed my finger to get rid of the clot, it flushed out all the anesthetic. They gave me a prescription for pain relief, but the anesthetic being flushed out was a predictable outcome. They should have known that and given me pain relief before I left. I was in a great deal of pain by the time I got to the drug store. Nevertheless, I have high regard for Dr. Nolla and for

"First of all, in both my vists, I had to wait atleast 2.5 hrs before Dr.

could see me. The actual inspection or time spent with the doctor was less than five minutes each time. Secondly, when my xrays were taken the first time, I was told they had information that my insurance covered 100%. That was wrong information. I had to pay out of my pocket. Thirdly, I was never explained that the injection and the splint will be paid out of my pocket.
I think he is a good doctor but all the wait one has to make doesn't make it worh it especially if you are planning to visit him during work hours as you will be away from work for long.
"I had a hand injury from falling while riding my bicycle. Being between jobs, I have no health insurance. I called around to a few urgent care centers and family practice clinics to see what was the going rate for an X-

and consultation. Most were a minimum of $150. But Texas Sports Medicine and Wellness Center quoted $60 including the X-rays. They made me an appointment for right away. Dr.

was very nice and did three X-rays of my hand. He confirmed that I had broken a bone, and gave me a splint to wear for 6 weeks, recommending a follow-up visit in 3 weeks. Total cost, $60 plus $45 for the hand splint.
