Houston Orthodontists Reviews
The older daughter (now 18) has a "permanent" retainer on her bottom teeth, so poorly cemented to the inside of her teeth that she cannot floss, and our dentist cannot clean under and behind. It was installed, not by Dr.
The younger daughter has been in braces for 8 years; she is preparing to graduate from high school in May 2012 and she may STILL be in braces on graduation day! Dr.
The first step in her treatment, while she still had baby teeth, was to install expanders (top and bottom) to expand her jaws to accommodate all the teeth. The initial consultation also promised an appliance that would force her lower jaw forward (she had a significant under-bite), creating small cracks in the jaw that would fill with new bone, continually doing this over a period of time until her jaw grew out to where it should be. This appliance was never put on, and when we questioned him about it (we could not find the paperwork promising the appliance) he stated that he personally wouldn't recommend it, and that it would have been at additional cost anyway (contrary to what we were promised by the original orthodontist).
After all of her permanent teeth came in, a new course of expansion began, and brackets were put on her teeth to begin the teeth straightening process. Not only were her teeth crooked, but they also were at the wrong angle. As was explained to us by another orthodontist, the reason that some people's smiles really "pop" is because the vertical alignment of the front of the teeth is so perfect that is reflects the light directly into your eyes when you look at that person. Our daughter was a little "buck-toothed" in that her teeth were angled outward.
This angle was never corrected...it was made a little better by the nature of the treatment, but it was never completely corrected.
Our daughter's "brace removal" date kept getting moved out...and it always coincided with the last payment on our account! We missed one payment near the end of the contract...and her "done date" got moved out at the next appointment! When we made the final payment, they made an appointment to remove her braces, calling her "DONE"!!!
We knew for a fact that she was not finished...she still had a pretty severe underbite, and her teeth were not yet straight. When we questioned Dr.
We asked our dentist for a referral, and he sent us to an orthodontist that specializes is fixing other orthodontist's mistakes. This man did xrays, took measurements, and sent the information to an outside company for a computerized evaluation. The evaluation came back...a good orthodonic job means that tooth roots are parallel to each other...her roots look like tree roots going "every which way". She had a significant (5mm) underbite, and a 10+ degree offset to her front teeth on top (meaning they still stick out like buck teeth).
I asked Dr.
5 weeks later, I called to find out why they had not yet sent the file to the new orthodontist, and they had no answer for me. It took 3 more weeks for the paid-for report to get to the orthodontist. This report consisted of 3 pages...HANDWRITTEN...comments that were taken from her years of treatment that had been input into the computer at each appointment. No file was copied...no copies of the original evaluation...no plaster mold...NOTHING. My demands for what I paid for have gone unanswered and unacknowledged.
When my daughter began to be treated by the new orthodontist, it was discovered that the expanders had been in her mouth SO LONG that her
We have been trying to deal with Dr.
At this point, Dr.
We are extremely disappointed with this orthodontist, and we warn EVERYONE against using him. He advertises at movie theaters, and has made a vanity movie short about how good his treatments are. He even appeared on Great Day Houston a few months ago. I will also be contacting that TV show about his "services".
