"It went very well. I originally sent photos to request an estimate, but my husband and I realized we needed more work done than I first thought. I meant to follow-up" sooner, but didn't get around to it. About a week later, reached out to me to follow-up. I explained there was more to be done & we'd need someone to come out and see it. She did the very next day. The day after, she sent updated estimates. The day after that (yesterday), the construction and paint crews came out and VOILA! Within very few days of her following up with me, the work is done. It looks great. I would definitely use again, especially for this type of work. I'd first called siding repair companies, but the job was too small for them. I then called several handymen, but the job was too large for them. was able to handle the job, and quickly at that.

-Natalie B.

"The work was not complete until I complained about my shelves were replaced. After they were destroyed from being removed from my ptry when" they didn't have to be removed when the outside door was being painted. My blinds clap was lost and not replace. Jewelry in my home was stolen. I have tried to resolve this matter through the court, but has given false addresses. And refuse to provide a good address to the court system officer so this matter can be resolved. He is not so.eone I would trust to work in or around anyone elses home without supervision.

I have never know of any spay on popcorn to have asbestos , but there is alot out there that I havent seen I guess. The best way of removing popcorn is with a 3 gallon sprayer and 12inch mudding knife. Spray the popcorn with warm water, let set for a minute and scrap.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

COOL!!!  Someone who asks a question actually responds.  Rare.  Love it.  Let us know how things work out.

Handyman reviews in Houston

arrived right on time. He looked at the job and presented me with a fair cost estimate. 's worker got started on the job while went to Lowe's to gather additional supplies. and his workers were polite, friendly, and completed the job in a timely ...More and professional manner. I will definitely use again the future!

This is a lengthy review, but to understand how good and is, you need to understand the self induced complications and additions I made during the course of the job, which was still completed during my 2 week time frame.
After seeing all the reviews on Angies List and in the Houston area, I decided ...More on for some work on my house. The only thing that had been painted in my house in 20 years was the walls. The job started as a repair of the numerous visible sheetrock seams along with painting the ceilings. We were to replace all the down and lights in my house with the retrofit fixtures (45), install 4 new complicated ceiling fixtures, move a vent, remove a few down lights, close up all ceiling holes, replace an exterior door, repair, restain & seal my front door, close up and paint an old dog door, repair 3 sets of french doors and repair numerous interior doors, all that wouldn’t close or open as the case may be. The humidity in the summer is such that my french doors could not be opened and/ or closed without without fear of never getting the door closed again! We had a contract for $8,300 for the interior work & repairs, and $2,200 for the retro refit of all the down lights (45). My requirement was that this work be completed in 2 weeks.
A couple of days before we started, I realized that with the implied chaos of painting all the ceilings, I should go ahead and paint all of the woodwork trim, crown molding & doors as well. I asked how much and could it still be done within the 2 week time frame. Answer was $3,800 & yes. I considered this a fair price considering the amount of woodwork & doors to be painted. As the work proceeded in the first week, I realized my 6 sets of plantation shutters were also desperately in need of paint and they did that as well ($750). Then I realized my hall needed repair & paint. They did that too. ($350)
My point is, I kept throwing things at them, some of them pretty darn big things. The painters worked thru the weekend, and everything was done, remarkably still within my 2 week time frame. I would also like to add that the painters showed up at 8:00 am and did not leave until 6:00 pm. I’ve been involved in a lot of office tower construction over the years, and I’ve certainly never seen sub-contractors work like that unless there was a lot of overtime involved.
The result is my house looks brand new, and the new ceiling fixtures are perfectly placed. There were a few missteps along the way, but that is always the case in construction. It is always chaos during the process as you are boxing and moving everything you you have sitting out from one place to the other, then having to wash things before putting them back when the job its complete. My house is a 2,300 sq.ft. 60 year old ranch house that was updated 20 years ago by previous owners. I’ve lived here 15 years, and I now feel like I live in a new house! I love every thing thats been done, and I highly, highly recommend & .

Mr. was very good and courteous. He did everything very well. He arrived on time, worked promptly for a very good price. I will hire him again. Thank you Angie's list.
- Kaihan R.

The roofer completed the project in an efficient and professional manner. I don't have any complaints and I plan to use this provider in the future.
- Harvey W.

Very good. Mr. always does good work for a fair price. He can do a lot of things, so he's the first one I look to when I have things to be done. He is responsive, prompt, keeps the customer informed, and a pleasure to be around.
- Patrick W.

came about 1 hour later than our estimated time to give me an estimate of $425 to replace my crown molding, baseboard trim and paint my dining room as well as my front door trim.
indicated that he would not be doing the work but instead would be sending a qualified painter named ...More R. that had alot of experience painting.
On the day of the job, shows up to the job about 2 hours late because he forgot he had court that morning and got lost coming to my house.
Once at my house, he had bought the wrong type of trim so had to go to store to buy another piece. By this time he was already 3 hours late to start.
Once he started, he did a horrible job covering my tile and got brown paint drops all over my tile as well as on my crown molding. He also did not paint all the areas above the trim and left paint drips in some areas on the walls. I will have to hire another painter to re-do the entire dining room.
He also said he felt sick and threw up on my front porch twice and thus was not able to complete the job in 1 day as promised. He left in a rush and did not clean up his mess or the paint splatters all over the trim, floor, or crown molding. He also left scuff on my brand new door that I emphasized that I wanted to keep clean.
Finally, when we checked our outdoor faucets the next morning, had left our water hose running all night long for over 12 hours after he cleaned his paint brushes. Our entire yard was soaked.
I would never recommend the painter but did exhibit great customer service by trying to make things better.
did compensate me the next day for the extra water bill I will get next month from the water leak as well as offering to clean all the paint splatter drops all over my dining room but I would still never use this provider again.

- Betty F.

Searched roofers in my area, they were top of the list. Bought the deal. Waited 4 days (but 2 were the weekend so don't count), only to be told that they don't service my area. Thanks for wasting my time, if you don't want to work in EaDo then don't offer your services in this area.
- Katherine S.

arrived on time and i showed him the work that needed to be done. At each phase, he explained how it would be done. We negotiated the cost of the work, and when arrived, both and I walked and talked him through the plan. and discussed ...More materials and procedures. Then left to pick up workers for another job, and left to buy materials. returned in a reasonable time and started work on the front porch, then the kitchen and bathroom thresholds, then the french doors, and finally the ceiling fan lamp. It all took about five hours. We paid cash for the supplies he bought at Lowes and handed him the payment for the job in a sealed envelope which he was then to deliver to . called the next day (Today) to ask about the work, and we gave a positive report. We expect a receipt from today. Very pleased.
