"We did have quite a wait, even with an appointment, but there was an emergency that came in, so it was understandable. The office staff was awesome, providing my" busy 3 year old with crayons and paper to keep her distracted from the long wait time. The vet tech and the vet were both very nice. Although I haven't had a
to call her back, the vet actually called me twice to see how my cat is doing. They are very personable, and have a genuine interest in my pet's health. I will definitely continue to use their services for my pet care needs.

"I took my elderly cat here after dealing with 3 other vets who said there was nothing they could do. My cat had a painful bladder condition with bleeding, pain" on voiding, and bowel issues. Dr
and her staff were very compassionate and caring. We treated my cat for about 9 months. Dr
was able to stop most of the daily bleeding and blood clots and treatment seemed to make her more comfortable. My only complaint would be the cost, but alternative treatment usually is a lot more expensive then traditional treatment, and my baby girl was worth it. I just wish I had known about Dr
sooner, maybe treatment would have been more effective for the long term. Dr
did weight my cat almost every time, did blood work to keep on top of what was happening and while recommending herbs, drops and higher quality food, some of the herbs were very helpful. However, that is something you have to try to see if it works, unlike a drug. I'll take a new pet there anytime. Actually I'll start with Dr
instead of it being a last ditch effort.

Angie's Answers

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Veterinarian reviews in Harrisburg

The problem here is that Willow Mill patients are automatically turned over to the
Harrisburg Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Center (AEMC) for overnight and weekend care. This results in hospitalization charges from both Willow Mill and AEMC. I was told by Willow Mill staff that the charges were similar. However, while Willow Mill provides a detailed list of charges, AEMC only provides a summary list by type of charges which can easily hide overcharging. When I got a very large bill for AEMC services, I asked for specifics and never received them. AEMC did check the charges and found an overcharge of $160 (but only after I complained). Also, they charged $60 for the exact same injection that costs only $24 at Willow Mill. When I asked for an explanation why, I was not given an adequate response so I can only assume that they are grossly overcharging since you have no choice when your pet is automatically switched over to them at night and weekends. During one hospitalization, AEMC charged me approximately $500 for 12 injections. The exact same injections cost me approximately $225 at Willow Mill. Only once during several hospitalizations did I ever have a vet call me from AEMC to provide an update on my dog when she was very ill. I asked for a call several other times but no one ever called even after I called them. I think the owner of AEMC is also one of the vets at Willow Mill and possibly at Gettysburg Rd Vet Center since they all seem connected by the same vets and personnel. The quality of care was hard to evaluate since all they did was basically watch the dog and give her meds/food but they make sure they charge (and overcharge) for very little service. I do not recommend using AEMC (and Willow Mill by association) but they are the only emergency vet center in Hbg area (there is one in
Harrisburg Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and one in Gettysburg but I think the one in
Harrisburg Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is also associated with AEMC since they are included on some of AEMC's paperwork). If you do use them, please demand a detailed list of charges (or request an estimate of charges before they do anything for you and ask questions if they seem high) and double check every bill (and compare prices to other vets). You cannot trust these people with your money and maybe also your pet.

We are always seen almost immediately and the front desk staff are always friendly and courteous.
Dr. Scheungrund is always friendly and professional, leaving no questions about his competency.
We have been using this business for several years and, although a bit pricey, we are satisfied.

Our older dogs started exhibiting some health problems and we had heard great things about the office so we contacted them. They were very caring and explained what tests needed to be run and what the possible problems could be. They helped us to understand what was going on with our dogs and were very kind when they told us the one was not going to make it.

Harrisburg Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
does a good job with the spay/neuter of the ferals. I can drop off early and pick up same day which is good when trapping ferals. All of the ferals she has done for me have came through the procedures with no complications and are thriving. It is sometimes hard to get in contact with her/or get a return phone call. I sometimes have to stop in her office and make the appt if days go by without a return phone call.

It went extremely well. I have great faith in this veterinarian - he has cared for all my dogs for 10 years and has done exceptionally well for all. He is expert at diagnosis of illness and treatment, and he clearly loves the dogs he cares for. Dr Schengrund is never rushed, and answers all questions. He is gentle and concerned with animals and compassionate with their owners. I

ot recommend him highly enough.

be cats' primary vet but will be on my guard with the prescriptions...animals to adopt are very plentiful should this one require EXPENSIVE or exhaustive measures.

Easily the best veterinary clinic in the Harrisburg area (we've tried many in the past 17 years). They're more expensive than most but we still give them an A for price because there's a really good return for that extra cost. All the vets are superb, the staff is great, and the tempo of the place is so much different than the "take-a-number" routine at all the big-name places in town.
Tough to be real specific when you're talking about long term relationship and several pets and to get real detailed about any particular instance is to miss the larger point. These are real pros who run a very, very good business and who will take seriously the medical needs of your pet. we've never troubles getting an appointment (even on very short notice) and we've never waited more than a few minutes to be seen once we've arrived. And, most importantly, I don't think we've ever had better veterinary care in all the many ways that veterinary care can be measured.

If you hate your pet but lack the intestinal fortitude to torture it to death yourself, Dr.
Harrisburg Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and his partners will be delighted to charge you a ton of money to ensure its slow and painful death. If, instead, you're looking for beneficial veterinary care, you'd be better off going anywhere else.
