"I, nervously, took a $1,500 pair of Manolo boots in to have the leather stiletto heel repaired. Normally, I would have taken them back to" and they ship them out to get repaired, but, I didn't feel like driving to King of Prussia, twice. The owner also recommended re-doing the front tips because the sole was wearing. You do have to pre-pay before any work is performed. So, handing over the boots and paying up-front made me a little uneasy, but, I'm sure people leave things there all the time. When I went back to pick up the boots, I couldn't believe how well they were done. The owner knew that the boots were expensive and he kept them safe in the front room.

"The work was great and I can't even tell which panel was replaced since the stitch matches. They do require cash and a 50% deposit before work is done. I was" told to return in six which I did and it wasn't done. She told me to come back later in the day which I did and it was done. Next time I'll wait for them to call me before going over.

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

Great. Thoroughly explained everything, took time for us to make decisions. Very knowledgeable, friendly. Would absolutely hire him again.

Mr. was not able to meet the original schedule for work on several pair of shoes because he fell ill. His wife call to notify us and to apologize (a rare courtesy). The new schedule was met and additional work agreed with more to go. Have a backlog, because better shoe and leather work was available to us in New Mexico and Texas. ...More Repair and Mr. have provided solid skills and knowledge.

For my first visit, I dropped off a pair of Ferragamo men's shoes for new soles and heels. I was advised that the shoes would be ready the following day (even though I told the individual that I didn't need them that quickly) and told that I needed to pay a $20 deposit in advance. I returned a week later, paid the $35 balance, and picked ...More them up. The workmanship appeared excellent in every detail. I subsequently brought in a second pair of shoes to be cleaned as well as a pair of my wife's shoes to have new tips put on the heels. The total cost was $25 which I paid in advance, although only a smaller deposit was required. This time I was told the shoes would be ready in 4 days. (I brought them in on a Thursday and told they'd be ready on Monday.) Once again, the service on both pairs of shoes was excellent.

I regularly have my daughter's figure sharpened by . He
always charges $10 and can almost always do them instantly. If not, he
is able to have them completed within the day. My daughter is a
competitive figure skater, and sharpens her ...More perfectly. He
and his wife are always extremely courteous. I was particularly thrilled when was able to sharpen new blades before they were mounted on new . Again, he completed them within a reasonable amount of time as promised and the charge was still only $10! I was very happy.

It went Very well. Just to let you know they use vibram for replacing the heel plate. Which is a strong long lasting material.. Where other would use a softer type of heel plate.. The most outstanding part is I just happen to be there just to check in on the repairs. They were finished but I did not have my ticket number on me. So I said that I will ...More be back with the ticket number so they can find it easier. They advised me that "It would be no problem to find just write down what we worked on and we will find it". Then a few minutes later they came back with all my shoes even though they were in different spots in the store.

These ratings are sad but true. I used to go to for all of my work and I had plenty of it. No one was better than him. If he could not do it, it could not be done. A couple of years ago, something changed. His work is still excellent but it is almost impossible to get him to finish anything or even be at the store most of ...More the time. Once you hand over your shoes, you may never see them again, or at least not see them for 6 months. I feel something is wrong since he was so excellent for so long, but I have no idea what. In the meantime, I just have to go elsewhere.

I thought I would try for two reasons: First, I was concerned that the other shoe repair place I was using was not providing the quality of work that I wanted; Second, my work hours made the other place difficult to get to and I was hoping somewhere closer to my house, like , would make it a little more ...More convenient.
I dropped my shoes off on a day that I had taken off of work. The owner seemed to know a lot about what the problem was and the shortcuts others had used to repair them. It seemed that he would do a good job and the price was also reasonable ('too cheap' was my first reaction). When he told me that the shoes wouldn't be ready for over a month-and-a-half I was not happy, but committed at that point.
When the date finally arrived, he called and left a long message to tell me that he had hurt his thumb and that it would take longer to get them done. He didn't say when it would get done, but within a week he called to say they were completed.
Although he closes at 6pm, I happened to be in the area about a week after that around 6:30pm, since he had said he is often there at late hours, so I thought I would try. I stopped in front and was disappointed that he was closed. He had just gotten in his car, which you could see from the sidewalk, and he was waving to me to come over so. He didn't get out of his car and it felt like he wanted to go. I told him I just wanted to pick up my shoes. He said he was late for his son's birthday party. I said it was difficult for me to get there. He said, "Well, you obviously dropped the shoes off before" (implying that therefore it shouldn't be a problem to come back another day). I was tempted to make a snarky comment back but I really wanted my shoes and he was starting to get out of the car anyway. In all, I delayed him maybe three more minutes from his party, and most of that was his own chattiness. (Oh yeah, make sure you leave extra time if you drop shoes off because he tends to talk a lot, as well.) I might have been tempted in the future to ignore his quirkiness and the long time it takes to get the shoes fixed, but this odd encounter just ruffled my enough to move on to somewhere else.
I can't speak to the quality of his work because I just got the shoes back. It looks like he did the job, though. They have new heels.
