"Poorly. It had been repaired by this firm before and was guaranteed. Yet when it was obviously deteriorating much quicker than guaranteed, he came back but charged her again! Not only that but it looks horrible with 1 inch think mortar in some areas and 1/4 inch thick mortar in others. It does not even look like to original fireplace, just repointed...bricks ...more sideways...flat brick before, now turned on its end to "fit". My mother is 80 years old and I think he took advantage of her. I intervened and paid him only 1/2 of what he was trying to charge her the 2nd time. Really I should not have paid him anything."

"Badly. He had to be watched like a hawk which is hard to do given work schedules. He was to cut out the old mortar to 3/4 inches deep prior to starting to re-point. Time after time I had to show him small and large areas where his prep work was not adequate, that is, where he did not cut it out to 3/4 inches. He did not put up protective covers for windows and sills to keep the new excess mortar off after being asked repeatedly to do so. " became belligerent and started slamming the ladder around. In many areas he cut into the bricks and had to be told that that was not acceptable and new bricks would be needed. Basically, he tried to get away with as much as he could and had to be watched constantly when and if that was possible."
