Carpet Installation Reviews in Harrisburg

wantThe job supervisor was very responsive and courteous, he called to check on my satisfaction and any additional needs and the workers (and there were several, either individual or in teams) were timely and did a good job. In addition to the work above, i also had to have a plumber repair the burst pipe and had a flooring company install new bathroom floor.
The supervisor also interfaced well with my home insurance company and, though this whole process was
, costlier, and took more time than I would have thought, i do not think it took more time than it should have.
Things I should have done differently: 1) not signed the paperwork in a rush. The contract for remediation had boxes that could be checked for different aspects of the job, such as clean up, water and mold remediation and repair and remodeling. Because i was so comfortable with the job supervisor, I signed without reading and ultimately it was a contract stating they were going to do all the work.. The good outcome was that when I told them I wanted to choose my flooring and have it installed by a flooring store, they agreed. STILL. . . READ BEFORE YOU SIGN. 2) They prefer to use
paint and I agreed and chose the best they sell for bathrooms, but i am not happy with how it "wears" in the bathroom. The color bleeds when the room is steamy. CHOSE YOUR OWN PAINT, they were willing to use any good paint i would have chosen. 3) I did not close off the rest of the downstairs by closing doors and stuffing towels under them. Dust from the rugs went everywhere!!! (ISOLATE THEIR WORK as much as possible - to prevent mold and dust going throughout the house).
Things I did right: 1) I took time off to be home as much as possible when they were working. To prevent unnecessary tear out and to observe and make comments, suggestions, requests as they went along. When I saw a problem, i would point it out to either the worker or the supervisor and they addressed it. 2) I checked their work as soon as it was done and when there was a problem, like with the way the carpet was lifting at doorways, I let the supervisor know. They came back and fixed it - their aim was to please. 3) I let them know, repeatedly, that I appreciated the care they took and that the job was going so well. I have heard numerous horror stories about the way remediation is done by a couple well known remediation companies commonly called in by insurance companies.

was knowledeable about his products and addressed our needs as we outlined them. Day of the project
and his assistant were prompt, courteous and friendly. They were task oriented and completed the work in a timely manner, as promised. Kept the home neat and clean during and after completion of the job.

then quickly provided me with a quote. We scheduled the installation date and they were on time and working as scheduled. Everyone involved was GREAT to work with and a pleasure to have in our home. The cleaned up after themselves and did a beautiful installation job.

Had a large selection of remnants available which really cut down on the price. We were replacing carpeting in my daughter's room who is no longer living at home. Did not want to spend a lot of money on a room that would not often be used. They were helpful in making an appropriate selection. They came out an measured the room and also gave me an estimate on restretching carpeting in another room. They came on time, were very professional, and answered all my questions. The day of installation they again showed up on schedule they moved all the furniture, laid the carpet, put all the furniture back the new carpet looks great and I am very happy with the restretch job they did. They left my house clean.

May 7 The salesman
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
measured the area and said that we needed two boxes of tiles to do the area. He said he needed to order two boxes just in case they needed a tile from the second box so we wouldn't have to order another and take a
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
of them not matching. He charged us for 49 sq ft and the area is only 25 sq ft. We agreed to this thinking we would tile our small bathroom with the extra tiles.

May 27 The installer did a good job. EXCEPT that the tiles did not match and he said that there were no extra tiles. I called
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
on May 28. I told him about the tiles not matching and that we had no extra tiles. He said he would come over the next day but didn't show. I called again and he apologized saying he was busy. He came over June 4 and brought the extra tiles and looked at the floor. He agreed that the tiles didn't match and said he would contact
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
for a refund.
June 13 I called again asking for an estimated time that we could expect the tiles to be fixed. He said he got the refund for the tiles and would schedule the job soon. I asked if I would be getting a refund for the extra box of tiles. He told me no. He said he didn't ask for that since he could use my extra box of tiles to fix the job.
June 14 I called
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and told him I wanted a refund for the bad box of tiles. He said he would look into it.
June 19 I wrote a letter to Mr
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
explaining that I had a credit card dispute pending and would have to file it by June 28 if the job was not done before that.
June 25 the job was done. I closed my dispute with the credit card company but have not received any tiles or a refund. I paid for two boxes and only got one.
I have had carpet installed several times from M & Z and they did a great job.
I will never do business with M & Z again. They do not handle problems well.
- Ann P.

The test of a good company is how they handle a problem and M & Z failed. I have been doing business with M & Z since 1975. They always did a good job and have quality products. This is the first time I had a problem.
May 7th the sales manager measured and told me I needed to purchase two boxes of tiles for the job. I paid for 49 sf for a 25 sf area. I agreed and asked if the remaining tiles could be used in my bathroom. He said that could be done but I may have to order another box and they may not match exactly but that could work in the bathroom by hiding any that didn't match in areas not seen.
May 27th the job was done. It was done nicely except that after the installer left I noticed the tiles did not match. Seven of the fifteen tiles were gray. I called the sales manager and he asked me if I was sure and I assured him that I was sure and so were several other people who looked at it. He finally came over on June 4th and agreed that the tiles were different. He said he would have to get a refund from
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
before the job could be done over.
June 13 he called and said he could set up the job and he was going to use the tan blocks and replace the gray ones with the ones from my extra box. I asked if I was getting a refund for the bad box of tiles he said no. He then said that
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was not refunding for the tiles just the job. I argued that I paid for two boxes and was getting only one box. He said he would pay for the seven tiles that didn't match out of his personal checking account. I hung up and called the regional manager and he said I should have gotten two new boxes from
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and he would check into it. I heard nothing back for two days and sent a letter to the regional manager saying that I was going to dispute the charge with my credit card company if it wasn't fixed by June 28th.
June 26th the floor was fixed and the installer said they were going to order me a new box of tiles. I wanted a refund but I guess this is better than nothing. I only wanted what I paid for.

The whole process was quick and easy.
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was excellent in communicating exactly what to expect, and his pricing was on target for us to add to the scope of the work. There were a couple of extra items that I needed to have cut that I noticed while work was in progress. Although they were not part of our initial agreement,
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
helped us out with them anyway, which was a huge value add.

I was completely in a bind and
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
saved me! I had purchased cork laminate flooring to install myself. I was down to a crunch for time because of a graduation party coming up. I had a bunch of projects going at the same time and figured I could knock out the floor in a day. After spending an ENTIRE day trying to get it installed and failing miserably, I turned to Angie's List. I found
Harrisburg Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and read his reviews. I called him on a Sunday morning, we made a plan Monday, and this morning (Thursday) he installed the floor. I knew I was asking for a lot when I called and said I absolutely needed it done this week. He fit me into his schedule and did not make me pay a ridiculous premium for it. He is a consumate professional. Clean work, courteous, careful, thorough. We DEFINITELY will use him again.
- James C.

The quote was for about $3500. I chose them because of previous Angie's List interviews as well as their promptness and communication. They're a good contractor and do quality work.
