quoted us a price for removal of a tree, stating that the price was higher because limbs would have to be lowered by rope. I accepted his estimate. Ropes were not used, and the first limb fell on the power line, downing wires and pulling service off our house and out of the panel box, breaking a connecting lug. Mr.

chastised the crewman for not using ropes, and the crew then left because the power line was down. We called electricians to make repairs ($1600) and notified the tree company, requesting they submit our expenses to their bonding/insurance agent for reimbursement to us. We have their card, which says they're bonded and insured, and Mr.
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
assured me they were still bonded and insured. We scheduled a return visit for March 1 to remove the tree and pick up the electric bill for reimbursement, but no one from the tree company appeared and none of our five telephone calls was returned. We tried to call the company numerous times over the next few weeks, but our calls always went to voice mail and were not returned. My wife called from a phone number they would not recognize, and Mr.
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
answered the telephone immediately. She asked if he was

, and he replied, "Yes," and asked how he could help her. When she identified herself, he began yelling, "I can't hear you. Call me back," and hung up, but he had easily heard the beginning of the conversation. We mailed him a letter on March 22 with a copy of the bill from our electrician asking that he submit it to his bonding agent and contact us by Friday, March 25. Today is Monday, March 28, and we have not heard from him.

"We ended up using another service. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable. We felt they would have done an excellent job and we have seen some of the work they've done in the past. We eventually found someone who we felt the same confidence with that was cheaper. They were a little more expensive but it wasn't unreasonable for the work being done. "

Large trees like Douglas firs provide wonderful benefits for your yard, but the bigger they are, the harder they fall. A Seattle-area contractor offers tips to make sure your trees are healthy and not prone to falling over.

Lessons from the Bradford pear trees

Planted extensively in the ’80s and ’90s, the Bradford pear tree became a dominant feature in many subdivisions, on commercial properties and in parking lots. All was well until 15 or more years after planting.

How to plant a tree

'"Right Tree, Right Place’ should take into account the mature size of the tree, not the size you want it to be, as well as ensuring the soil, water, sunlight and climate factors are all favorable for the tree species you are planting,” says Wes Kocher of the ISA. (All photos by Mike LaFollette)

Planting a tree is an easy job, but it takes more skill than you might think. The following tree-planting tips can help ensure you plant a tree that thrives.

Trees add both beauty and value to your property, but like all good things, they also have a downside. Diseases and other conditions can quickly turn a living, vibrant tree into a pile of dead wood.

"It went like clockwork. The service was performed with exceptional skill in a minimum amount of time. Price, reliability and quality of service were all exceptional. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing tree removal."

and his crew arrived as scheduled and were professional and knowledgable. Unable to complete in one day and returned later to finish project. Ground was saturated leaving some soil disturbed. His crew repaired ground and replaced movable objects as necessary. Will certainly use

again. He is a pleasure to do business with."

"I called several tree services for an estimate and
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
had the lowest price. I talked to him about some of the new landscaping we had done and that we wanted to make sure it was not damaged while removing the other trees. Mr.
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was very careful and did exactly what he said he would. It took 4 days and he was on time every day. I will definitely use

in the future.

returned the call the same day, set up an appointment for the next day, gave me the lowest quote I had received (and some of the others never came back after they saw those trees against the pond), and scheduled an appointment immediately. When I left for work there were trees. When I came home, there were no trees...there was no evidence the trees ever existed. No mess, no trees, and neat and tidy professional pruning! He called that evening to make sure the job was satisfactory. I'm delighted!"

"I called in mid-June to schedule an estimate and was not able to get one until June 30th. When June 30th came around, Bill was very punctual. We went over the work and he answered all of my questions. He gave me quote for around $700 which was $150 lower than the highest quote received and $350 higher than the lowest quote received. I decided to use Cut Right Tree Service. "

"Everything went perfectly. It only took them about five hours to get everything done, and they cleaned up after themselves very well. This was the first time I'd used them, but I would definitely use them again in the future, as well as recommend them to others."

"First, they came out and looked at our trees and gave us an estimate. Because of recent storm damage in the area, they were very busy, but were able to work us in their schedule. When they cut the trees down, they carefully moved existing objects (birdfeeders, birdbaths) and did not damage any plantings whatsoever. Very professional. Had used them for a smaller job in the past and would use them again in the future."

"Three weeks ago, I received estimates from two other local tree services to cut down a large

Pear tree from my front yard. I hired
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
Tree service (not the cheapest in town) to cut down the tree (in fear it would soon fall).
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
indicated they would remove the tree while I was on vacation. I returned from vacation to find the tree still standing. A week later, the tree was no longer standing because it had fallen on my house. I called
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
to remove the tree (thinking I would be of top priority sense if they had removed the tree when scheduled, it would not have landed on my house), at which point I was informed the estimate would increase and they could not get to me for approximately a week (something several other tree services also indicated due to recent storms- basically they had larger jobs that would produce more money). Doomed to wait a week to have the tree removed from my roof, I came home to find a flyer on my mailbox for

(
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
had driven by my house on his way home and spotted a business opportunity sitting on my roof). I called at 5pm on the Wednesday before the 4th of

holiday. He was at my house an hour later, and the tree was removed from my roof by 7:30pm. He indicated that he too had a week long waiting list, but would help me out after regular work hours (to help out a neighbor). They took the tree off the roof without causing any additional damage and did so for a third of the other companies' cost. Mr.
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was a "good ole boy" with a strong work ethic and a great sense of helping out a neighbor. Having had three trees fall on my house & car in the past few years in addition to preventative tree removal, I have dealt with several tree companies over the years.
Greensboro Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was by far, the least expensive, and had the best customer service. I would recommend & reuse this service.
