was wonderful to work with! From the very first meeting to discuss the project and request a quote, to the last day of the project, he was professional, yet courteous and easy going. He offered great suggestions during the design phase; and was on site every day during the construction process. His sub-contractors were great to work with. They arrived when they said they were going to arrive. They were knowledgeble in their craft. They cleaned up after themselves; and were conscientious about the surrounding areas of the home.
My project involved removing current cabinets and appliances, removing two walls between the kitchen and dining room, installing a header in the load bearing wall, moving doorways, re-doing the hardwood floors (patching, stripping and re-staining), and painting the majority of the lower level of my home.
The entire project was completed in the timeframe promised (approximately six weeks) with the only delay being because of a back-order on the tile backslash that I ordered.
I am extremely happy with my new kitchen; and would recommend
to anyone!

"Builder did not start the project until 4 months past the contract date, which resulted in the project going over the pre-determined & agreed to building time. This resulted in the buyers having to move 3 times, once into a corporate apartment until that lease expired, then into a hotel, then into the home. During this time, the buyers 4 children had to live with various relatives. It should be noted, there were no weather related, or act of God issues that delayed the building of this home. During the construction phase, the builder did not visit the job site unless expressly asked to by the buyers. The builder often had no idea who was working on the house or what had or had not been completed. The buyers took 1 month off of work to manage the subcontractors and ensure materials were delivered in order to complete construction. Builder assured the buyers monthly the project would be completed on time and on budget. Builder went 2 months past contract time and $100,000 overbudget."

Greensboro Home Builders Reviews

"My problem has not been pleasant. They had to come back five times to fix things. They damaged the floor by trying to fix the ceiling. The floor is still uneven. Their parent company went bankrupt. It's been horrible."

are a bunch of good builders, and I think they have lots of different locations. The managing staff keeps a good eye on the workers, making sure they all stay busy."
"They are such a trustworthy company. The high quality work they do costs a lot, but everything that's good costs a lot of money. Any problems we had were addressed right away, so they were great."
"It was a horrible experience. He did not finish the job and threatened my wife and kids. We took him to court and won, however, he still did not finish the job."
"My home was built on the schedule, that I was told. The builder worked very close with us when building. They were open and honest with us. I felt they have high ethical standards. Everything turned out great and I would recommend them."
"Several months ago, my husband

and I decided to purchase a lot to build a custom home the in Old

Park neighborhood of Greensboro. While interviewing contractors, we were approached by J.

Homes about building our house. We had a contract on the lot but

suggested it would be better if we closed on the finished house to save costs. This sounded like a great cost saving measure at the time. J.

Homes purchased the lot on our behalf and we gave them a large deposit to secure our home. We then spent countless hours drawing up a completely custom home for this lot and for our family's needs. We had a draftsman take the drawings and make blueprints to begin construction. I then spent even more time personally visiting sites to select windows, doors, cabinets, floors, etc...

However, once the home was under roof J.

Homes determined that they were not making enough money on the house and told us we must give them an additional $70,000 or they would terminate our contract. Sadly, the contract we signed had a very small clause at the bottom of the document that allowed them to terminate because of irreconcilable differences, despite paying them a substantial sum months ago. We trusted this company and to our discredit did not have the contract looked over by a lawyer. We thought we were friends with the builder and even had

over to Easter dinner because he was alone after his divorce.

They have currently terminated our contract and have returned our deposit money. But because their greed, someone else will be living in my dream house and this builder will be profiting from my custom design.I am sorry to write you like this but my only option is to make sure that other customers in Greensboro, High Point and Kernersville area are protected from this type of heartache. If you choose to continue to do business with them please read your contracts very carefully. It is clear they are only concerned about their bottom line.

Additionally they continued to cut corners on the construction costs and were exceedingly disorganized.

"Getting started:
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
requires that the customer pay for all materials up front. In this case, I gave him $3.600..which I found to be odd. He came with great referral, so I went with it. The overall estimate/bid was $8,000. He bills his labor by the day...not the job. His cost is $300/day. He bids how long the job will take, approximately...& provides a timeline of the project & what he plans to complete each day.
Before starting this job, we asked about pulling permits &
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
advised us against doing so. Having never done this, & this is our first commercial space, we trusted the advice of the professional-the "expert". After all, many people do work without getting it permitted. We had no idea the repercussions, nor that our contractor would leave us high & dry with full payment & not help us once the city put a stop work order on our door. Not only were we shocked to have our job halted, but we found out that our guy was not a licensed contractor or plumber!
In general,
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
proved to be a hard worker. To an inexperienced eye, he seemed to do good work too. However when we were ordered by the city to pull everything out that
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
had done, we found that none of the work was done to code. Had it been to code, we might have been able to salvage some of it. Instead, we had to start over from step 1 & redo everything!
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
walked with the full payment of $8,700 & refused to come back to help us, & in fact turned 100% of the responsibility on us, the customer. He went as far as to say we asked him to come work for us without a permit, & to keep the job as cheap as possible (neither of which are true).
Bottom line, if you need general home improvement work done that does not require a permit, you might be fine. Keep in mind that
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is not a licensed contractor, which means he is not insured. If this is not an issue for you, than you will be fine. I would NOT pay in full until you are completely satisfied. He played our heart strings & acted pitiful, so we paid him in full thinking he would still help us make things right with the city. He took our money & left town, and told us he would not come back to help us unless we paid his travel expenses AND for all work he would have to redo. Might as well have thrown our $8,700 in the dump as we had to start over & pay it all over again, including fines from the city.

"We and everyone in our neighborhood were impressed with the speed and efficiency at which they worked: the entire building process took about two-and-a-half months from beginning to end. When horrible weather canceled some of the workdays, they came around on weekends or holidays to make up for lost time: their idea, not ours. My mom moved into the suite a little over five months ago; she's been happy there, and there's been no issues with any of the work done.
I should briefly note that
Greensboro Home Builders Provider Name Locked
had previously done bathroom remodeling in our prior house, in order to prepare it for sale; in two weeks they did about $3500 worth of work that enabled us to raise our asking price at least $5000. And they've been responsive, when schedule permits, for small jobs. This is why we trusted them to organize something so large. We're glad we did.
