"A week before putting my house on the
Greensboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
I did a repair patch on the ceiling in my hallway and touched up the paint. To my dismay, the paint did not match so the entire hallway ceiling needed to be repainted! The owner of
Greensboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
came the next day and painted the entire hallway ceiling and a small bathroom for a very reasonable price and did an excellent job. The next week he and his crew painted my entire exterior, working between rain showers and doing what it took to get the job done and the for sale sign up in my yard on time. It looks awesome and my house sold in 6 weeks!"

"Lousy doesn't even start to describe it!! The "quote-man" was obviously only a sales person, and he was very professional and detailed in his work, just to justify the huge pricing. The project manager and its crew... a whole different story. The project manager didn't tell the crew exactly what they needed to do, and as I found out later, they were part of a subcontracting company that I couldn't identify clearly. These guys didn't speak English and my Spanish is quite alright but not perfect. The project manager disappeared after 10 minutes and came back just to get the check. The job was done so quickly that parts of the siding were not painted properly, and where they had cut the masonite boards to replace (only parts and piece, not all as in the quote), the boards are now swelling because they didn't insulate them properly. Nails are already starting to pop out of the siding, and the paint is cracking in some places. It looks so bad that people don't believe that it was done only 2 years ago! Since then, I have told my experience to all the people that I know, making it a point to be sure that they don't get any job in town. I would never recommend this company for any work, ever!"

How to get your HOA to approve your house painting project

Before making changes to your home's exterior, contact your HOA to see if your plans fall within allowable guidelines. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Robert O.)

If you live in a community with a homeowners association (HOA), gaining the board's approval before you paint your home's exterior is an essential requirement.

Finding a contractor for lead paint removal

Angie’s List member Steve T. of San Diego hired highly rated Paintgreen to remove lead paint from his garage. He says company owner, John Ray, “was patient and went over and beyond to make sure all work was done to the letter of the law.” (Photo courtesy of Steve T.)

Millions of homes built before 1978 still contain lead paint. EPA guidelines now mandate safe cleaning practices for lead paint removal, but not all contractors follow the rules.

"Certa Pro did excellent work for me and they charged me a fair price. I was so impressed I asked for their information so I can have them back to paint the whole exterior of my home down the road."

did a good job. He is totally trust worthy. He did what he said he was going to do and charged what he said he was going to charge.

"I have used this company for 10 years for both interior and exterior painting needs. The owner is very accommodating to schedule me in a timely manner. He is professional and completes quality work. Due to inclement weather, the crew was able to complete the painting project in a 2 week period. Unfortunately, I do not recall the price."

"I called this contractor for a painting estimate (also known as Church Renovation Builders) and he could start immediately. Initially asked for a very high deposit of $1300 but settled for $300. References were few, mostly older homeowners and commercial clients. He washed my house late one evening with only a backpack sprayer filled with bleach (no pressure washing). He rarely showed up before 11am or consistently, sometimes painting late in the dark. Helper was rarely supervised, and worked slowly and sloppily. Mr.

demanded immediate payment once he felt the job was finished, despite numerous discrepancies and problems. Reacted very poorly to issues even though he acknowledged them and discovered even more. He agreed to resolve discrepancies and apply a second coat of paint only for an additional cost. He resolved some issues and applied the additional coat of paint, again demanding full and immediate payment, leaving numerous insulting and harassing phone calls.

"Honest, time was not wasted, on time each day, and left at time specified. Very polite, neat, and reasonably priced. Gentlemen!"

sales guy promised full quality on old paint scraping and that each rotted area would be singled out and the wood replaced. They did send a carpenter who replaced some frame components. The paint work cosmetically looked perfect when completed. A couple of months later I noticed the paint to pop on one of the frames. Huge strips of paint would peel off easily with a finger, the wood rotted.

came out, fixed the window and, supposedly, inspected the work. Within a year, I had severe rotting on about half of my window frames underneath the paint. I went on patching the wood and spot paint myself. From what I can tell,

workers didn t re-caulk, didn't prime, painted right over soft wood and, likely, wet wood. With the high-grade sealing paint they used over wet unprepared surface they caused more damage to my frames than if the wood was left bare.

was extremely professional, friendly and reliable in all of my dealings with him. Payment was not expected until completion of (and satisfaction with) the job. During the job, a storm window was broken as it was removed from the house. He had the window repaired and replaced without any fuss. He was also extremely careful about not letting my indoor pets get out of the house while he was painting doors/windows. I trusted him with access to my home when I wasn't there and was never disappointed. I highly recommend him and will use him in future for any painting jobs (interior or exterior) that I may have. He was referred to me by a friend who was also extremely happy with his work."

"The builder of our home recommended this company. They thoroughly prepared the surfaces to be painted. This paint job has lasted longer than any we've ever had. We are looking forward to have them painting the interior."
