Roofing Reviews in Grand Rapids

It would be a leak around the base/flashing of a whirly-bird style roof vent in my garage roof that prompted this project. The house roof vents were fine when I inspected them but...
has long been a highly regarded trusted and visible area provider. So, who ya gonna call? Initially I needed a re-roof but the peak/eve vent system, as presented, made good sense. Project went great -according to my watchful next door neighbor (I had to be out of town on the date the work was performed). How great? The neighbor contacted
to arrange to have THEIR house re-shingled. Back home I was pleased with the finished product. Especially the clean-up. When I wore a tad younger mans cloths I'd helped a few friends with their tear-off and roof re-shingles. I KNOW what a mess we'd make -probably the most fun of re-roofing. The clean-up after, not so much! The peak/eve vent system works `as advertised'. No roof ice build up (NICE) but... the change in the attitude (and `altitude') of the eves to the existing eve trough/gutters was problematic. When it rained a number of the windows would have water running down them enroute to the `pitter/
' (pounding sometimes) on the aluminum outer window ledges. There was only so much of listening to the `rhythm of the rain' I could stand. Also, during `spirited' rains, enough run off cleared the eve troughs (entirely) that the lawn below began to form a noticeable erosion `line'. I observed these anomalies a few times in hopes of being able to describe them to
before I called him. It may have been the same day I phoned (if not, certainly the next) that
and one of their top nail gun wielding, aluminum bending, ladder climbing surgeons visited and inspected `things'. A plan was devised/implemented to eliminate the water between the eves and eve troughs the same day. There would be no charge for this `fix'. Nor would
entertain my offer of `something' towards the materials/labor expended. Nope. Specific to the `rain' that would `go-long' of the eve troughs... even if this condition didn't exist, a new eve trough/gutter system was desirable. Too, an exterior house painting. Perhaps siding the house versus painting. I was provided costs for these services and took them under advisement.
stayed in touch (follow-ups) for these SIX YEARS since the re-roof (when I take things under advisement -I take them under ADVISEMENT). Few reasons prompted my recently subscribing to Angie's list. Tree service; eves/gutters; house painting -or siding. I've already decided on a tree service provider and have re-established comms with
. In conclusion (you still awake?) roof peak and eve vent system, two thumbs up here in the snow belt; be mindful of the change in eve attitude if you employ a roof eve/gutter system.
, two thumbs up. Tree service pending. Stay tuned..??

I needed someone to come out and do some minor roof and siding repairs after the harsh winter. I went with
based on the good impression I got from the owner,
, who did the estimate, and the generally favorable Angie's List reviews I saw. He quoted the job, said it would be 3-4 weeks until they would start, and requested half down and a signed contract to begin.
At 3 weeks I began to wonder why I hadn't heard anything from them. At 4 weeks I began to worry when I would call to ask for the status and they would not even remotely be able to tell me when it would start. At 5 weeks I was pretty angry. I never received a single proactive phone call or update on the status of my job. I would have to call and leave multiple messages in the hopes of getting a call back. Finally, over 6 weeks after the contract was signed, two guys showed up at my door... of course, without calling. :-)
The workers were pretty good and the work that they did was acceptable. They said they didn't have the materials they would have needed to fulfill the roofing item on the quote, but they did do some shingle and roof repairs that were not explicitly called out in the quote. By this time I was so tired and frustrated with this company that I didn't care; I just wanted the job to be over and to move on.
I don't think it is an accident that since I signed my contract, several other negative reviews have been posted on
for this contractor. I did not have a good experience working with
and I would not recommend them to others in the future.

Roofing reviews in Grand Rapids

They did not cover the roof well enough and there was a storm which leaked into living room. They finished the roof and then fixed the ceiling as soon as they completed the roof. The clean up was awesome, and I appreciated that I was able to contact someone when there was an issue.

We’ve worked with
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
on several occasions. We hired them to insulate our attic, and to resurface our deck. More recently we hired
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
for a new roof. Each time we’ve been very satisfied with the work and had no regrets. In some posts, people mention that
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
estimates are on the high side, and to be honest that has been our experience as well. But, our
impression is that
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is very thorough during the estimate process, so their initial quoted price covers a lot more work/materials than what other companies include in their estimates. For example, one estimate we got was $1000
less than
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
’s, which makes it seem like
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is more expensive. But, when we broke things down it became clear the lower estimate didn’t involve the same quality of materials and service. With the lower estimate the company planned
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
much of the existing material, which didn’t seem wise given the condition of our roof. My guess is if we went with the cheaper estimate, once the work started the company would’ve inform us that most of the old material
could not be salvaged and we would need to pay more for new material.
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
determined this type of thing upfront, so we weren’t hit with any “
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
costs.” Given some peculiarities of our roof,
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
also devised a long-term solution to some leakage problems we were likely to face, so their estimate included additional materials and labor that the other estimates did not. We were glad we weren’t deterred by
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
’s higher estimate because the potential for
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
costs from other companies would have made the estimates equal in the end, and by going with
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
we feel we got a high-quality
product and excellent service.
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
also works with a lender that offers a great financing plan, where loan payments
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
’t need to be made for a year and no interest is charged during that period. For big projects like our deck and roof, this financing plan was ideal because it afforded us time to save up more money so we did not feel so strapped for cash.

We’ve been really pleased with
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
because they are a no-nonsense company that takes pride in the quality of their work. We feel
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is genuinely interested in helping us feel happy with our home and they are willing to go out of their way to help us improve our house. For example, when they looked at our roof they noticed woodpecker holes along the side of our
house. After the roof was done, they came back and fix the damage and plugged the holes for us. They also noticed some ice damage to our gutters from this winter, and they not only fixed and reattached the gutters, but they also added
an additional drainage route to reduce back-ups and the formation of future ice. All of these tasks were included with the roof job, whereas if we went with a different company we would have had to call separate people for each of these
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is a multi-faceted company, which makes them great to work with. When one of the owners,
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, came by for the roof estimate, he noticed the wood frame around one of our doors was rotten. He measured the door and told me exactly what type of door to purchase from Home Depot, and then
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
installed the door for us and only charged us for labor. When they put in the door they also reinforced the frame with a metal foundation so we
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
’t have to worry about
rotting wood in the future.
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been great for us because they inspect our house and give us suggestions for how to maintain and improve it, and when any type of work needs to be done they offer to do it at a low cost if they are
already at our house working on something else. For example, when they were up on our roof they noticed some issues with our chimney. We were aware of the issue but put the job off because we didn't want to deal with the hassle of getting estimates since we just went through that process with our roof.
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he had a chimney guy for us and offered to split the costs with us if we wanted to have the work done now. When
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
sees something that needs fixing, they want to fix it so homes are in good condition and homeowners are happy, and they want to keep employees working. They do not create unnecessary work just to charge homeowners though. On several occasions I actually asked
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to replace some things on our house, and he actually declined and said that these fixes were unnecessary and were a waste of our money. Instead, he actually gave us suggestions for how to solve the problem ourselves, so we wouldn’t have to hire and pay someone else.
We feel
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is very willing to develop long-term relationships with people who want to invest in their homes, and they enjoy helping the community. We’ve been very satisfied with the quality of work they’ve consistently provided, we appreciate their professionalism and responsiveness, and their willingness to provide us with creative tips for how to maintain our home so we can save money in the long-run.

I couldn't be more pleased. Vendor was flexible and did not attempt to sell me more than I needed. They used premium materials and got the job done is a very short time frame - quality work and great cleanup.

We found out about them at the Grand Rapids Home show and set up an appointment. The salesperson was very good at explaining the details of the steel roof and what type of workmanship to expect for our money. The materials were dropped off on a Monday. The installation followed on the next 2 days. All of the crew were very professional and polite. They answered any questions that we had as the job progressed. They cleaned up the area very well before leaving and were also careful around the plants so as not to damage them. we've had several positive comments about how good the new roof looks. Even though it's a steel roof, it looks very much like a typical asphalt shingle roof. In case you're wondering, it's not any more noisy in a rainstorm than a regular roof. I can't tell the difference. We'd definitely recommend them!

I scheduled a time for the estimate and made sure we were home, though no one came to the door during that time. About three days later, I received an email with an estimate. The service agreement was confusing and appeared to read the total cost was $75, as this was the only number that appeared and no estimate total was given. I felt that was a fair price for a
Grand Rapids Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
job and agreed. I called about a week later to schedule a time for the repair as no one called me, and the receptionist said they would try to schedule something for next week. About an hour later, the same day, two guys showed up at my house and started working. They claimed they knocked but there were two people in the house who didn't hear anything.
At this time I also had them estimate the cost to place gutters. They told me I would receive an email shortly after they got back to the office. It has been two weeks since they completed the job and I've not received a gutter estimate. I got a bill today for $200 for the fascia repair job. I was shocked and called the office, where the receptionist rudely read me the service agreement and said she didn't understand why I was confused. The work they did was minimal, I watched them nail one piece of small fascia to the side of my house in 15 minutes. I was charged for an hour of work and $50 of materials. I will not be recommending this company nor utilizing them in the future. I was sorely disappointed since I found them through Angie's List and all reviews had been relatively positive.
