"On the recommendation of a friend who uses this kennel, we called and made a reservation to board our 11 year old American Eskimo. This was the first time we used them. Service on the phone was very friendly, the price was great, and we were assured that they could handle giving our dog his insulin injection once a day. They told us they only accept drop offs between 7 and 8 AM, and since we were planning to drive to New

City we scheduled our departure time around getting the dog there at that time. When we arrived, another family was dropping off their large dog, and all of the dogs were barking frantically. They told me two other boarders had not picked up their dogs on time and they had no crate for our dog. They tied him by his leash to a table in the small reception area. Wondering what we were going to do, the woman said they had a crate in storage they could pull out or they would bring our dog up to their house (on the same property) until they had space which made me feel a little better. As I was giving her the dog's food and insulin with the instructions, the dog pulled the table and knocked equipment that was on it to the floor with a loud crash - all the time the dogs barkening was deafening. The woman asked me how to administer the insulin and when I reminded her that she told me she had someone there that could do it she said "oh yeah, my husband knows how to do it." At that point the husband came into the room and said yes, he did know how to do it. We left the dog - still tied to the table - as they were searching for a crate to put him in. I felt traumatized by the whole experience. When we went back to pick up the dog, they told me that all had gone pretty well but that he had snapped at the husband on the last morning when he was trying to give him his insulin. Normally, the dog loves getting his shot, if done properly, and is rewarded afterward with a doggy treat. Instructions I left with them in writing. I paid and took him to the car. That's when we noticed the smell. He had obviously been lying in urine as his underfur was completely stiff with dried urine and he smelled terrible. Of course, the first thing I had to do upon getting home was give him a bath. Definitely not worth the money saved. Next time I will return to my vet who does boarding and be happy to pay their prices to get loving and competent care.

"Excellent! We went out-of-town for the weekend. So 2 dogs (1-large/1-small) were boarded from Friday morning until Monday morning. The dogs were well taken care of and the staff was super friendly. I was pleased with the care that was provided. I will definitely use them again when we need to board our dogs."

Grand Rapids Animal Boarders Reviews

"We had one incident where they discovered that our dog's urine was very dark, halfway through a two-week trip. They called us to let us know. We were not scheduled to return home for another week, and we didn't have anyone immediately near, so they took her to their vet (at our cost, of course, and we also paid for their time to take her). They cared for her and gave her her meds. until we were able to get home."

"Daisy (our dog) doesn't seem stressed when she comes back. She likes the extra attention of individual play time (for an extra charge). She eats and poops so that means she is comfortable there!"

"They take real good care of our two pets when we leave for a trip. Once we get back my pets look like they have been in good hands. I like the price as well. I tell all of my friends about them."

"I like their business and how they treat the animals. It is in a convenient location so I can get there in a timely fashion in case of emergency. The price is a little high for my pockets but I seem to manage anyway."
