"I came home from work to find that the electricity was out in half the house, including the refrigerator. I called

"They were in pairs, two were supposed to be installed proportionally over my fireplace mantle. One was off. It needed pulled out, ceiling re-done, re-installed. He came back, verified that he did in fact make a mistake in his placement. In spite of this he has not been forthright in paying for damages to repair. I owed him about a third of what it would have cost to fix my ceiling. He is resistant to settlement, paying for the repair. He is adamant, sending threatening letters demanding his payment for the work he had done. I got estimates for the repair. These came to $2,500. I offered to knock the $1,006 off of this so he would then owe me about $1,500. I was prepared to pay any extra electrical costs incurred out of pocket. I sent him the estimates letting him know that he is welcome to get other estimates from any contractor he selects. He has continued to be nonresponsive. It took him 5 days to contact me after I noticed and left voicemails for him. He made excuses, denials. Two weeks later he finally came to my house."
