Project suffered delays when specified material for shower walls was not ordered in a timely manner. Two cabinets ordered for hallway were not ordered correctly. The plumber installed shower controls incorrectly, did a poor job of installing a radiator in the bathroom and had a leaking bathtub when it was finally tested. While these plumbing problems were corrected, the correction included a hole in the bedroom wall two foot by four foot to access the controls. This hole was on a wall that had been papered years previously. so an easy fix was impossible. Two windows for the living were not ordered when they were supposed to be again causing a delay of weeks in the project. Painting on the woodwork in the bathroom and and hallway were done without any preperation so the paint did not stick and peels off. Final coat of polyurethane on the refinished woodwork in the living room and hallway was disappointing.

He returned this morning at 9 am. Our appointment was at 10. I was, of course, not home, and he calls me. I tell him I will be back by 10. I arrive. He installs the light in 24 minutes. He charges me $136. That would be about 1.4 hours of WORK.
When I confronted him about the charges, he said he charges for his time travel to my home (or to show up early and sit around waiting for you). This was news to me. He never presented me with any itemization of charges. It seems really strange that he needed to make 2 trips to complete the small odds and ends I needed done. Just felt like an overall scam and I told him I was being ripped off to his face.
But I am home by myself with my two small kids and running my own small business, so I didn't have time or energy for a confrontation or to argue with this dude. I just got him out of my house and then stopped payment on my check. We'll see what comes out of this.
He worked quickly, and made sure to place drop cloths to keep the work areas clean. Clean-up was very good, and there was minimal disruption to my routine.
Also, I want to mention that I got a discount on the surge protector installation because I was having another service performed at the same time. I appreciate that.
