"I inherited the clocks from my father, I retained the clock shop that my father used. I have used other clock shop / repairs in other parts of the U.S., they know" Krenick's, and I have found Krenick's to be better than them. (I do suggest that they might be the best in the US; atleast better than I have found in DC, Maryland, SF Bay area.) Mr.
(Mr Krenick, who I also knew, passed away several years ago) is the current owner of Krenick's; he makes house calls, checks the clock(s), and takes the movements to his shop, if necessary. Fixing a time piece takes time; he repairs the movement, hangs it on the wall, and does all the fuss work while it runs on the wall for a month or so They make every effort to repair / replace clocks with period pieces; they do not repair clock cases.

"
explained everything very well. She knew she could get the part and the entire repair took only one week. As opposed to the estimates of" 3 months that we received elsewhere. What a pleasant experience!

Not only did my tech deliver on his time-frame promise to return my precious clock parts, but once he reassembled the clock and set her up again, she ran like a charm! To hear it chiming again was wonderful and he made sure it was a-okay prior to his departure from my residence. I am incredibly pleased with the service I received, the attention to detail my clock received and most importantly, it was a pleasure dealing with a consummate professional. In this day and age, it's hard to find a provider of this caliber. I won't call anyone else should my clock need attention in the future.

He was professional. He completed the work from start to finish. He delivered my grandfather clock and reinstalled it for us. I was very pleased with the services.

The owner
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
arrived exactly when he said he would. He explained all costs on the phone before he arrived. He spent approximately 2 1/2 hours working on both clocks. The clocks were not keeping accurate time and the German Box Clock was chiming incorrectly at the hour. He oiled and thoroughly checked and repaired each clock. They are now keeping perfect time.

(Four years ago we had a clock repairmen come out to the house. He was from Dansville Michigan, he charged over $1,800 for the same work that

I would recommend

I called Pat to see if he could fix my grandfather clock. It is quite old (vintage 1914 probably, no later than 1933 certainly based on the history of the company that made it. The clock had not run in about 10 years -- since a weight broke free. Pat told me he charged $265 for a house call and came out within several days. He determined he could fix the clock, took it apart, cleaned and oiled the mechanism, adjusted the chimes, restrung the weights, adjusted the time keeping mechanism. Before he left we were hearing the beautiful chimes that had been silent for 10 years.
He charged me for his service call and a key that replaced one I had lost. His service was worth much more than the charge. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Despite what I considered the high cost, I was worth it to have the job done right. Chimes work fine, clock works fine. Showed up on time and had genuine concerns that repairs were done right and clock performed the way it should. Definitely would recommend him.

showed up early as expected. (If they say they will be there between 8 and 9, you should be prepared to see them at 8!). They got right down to business. It was not entirely clear why the hour hand on my tall case musical clock had become stuck, but they made it right somehow. It is running perfectly now. This is a movement that was probably manufactured in the mid 1700s, according to

Then they embarrassed me by pointing out that I had put the minute hand upside down on my rare striking banjo clock that has been attributed to

I couldn't be more satisfied with the service I have received from

. This is not my first time with them, and it certainly won't be my last. It is very hard to find really good people who can fix antique clocks these days and know what they are doing. I have certainly had my share of "certified" clock repair experts who proved to be anything but experts. Not so, with

One cool thing is that the duo always shows up in black attire, like a clock SWAT team, and they have an interesting way of working together, seamlessly, expertly. The best!

I took an antique clock in for repairs and ended up leaving with a beautiful

Black Forest Cuckoo Clock at a great price. They have a great selection of not only Cuckoo's but of grandfather clocks. I plan on going back to get one to give to my wife as a Christmas present. The couple running the store were very pleasant and professional. I highly recommend and will update on the repair work once completed.

OK, so this has been a *really* difficult rate for me. I vacillated between posting everything ('we want all the details') and just summarizing the high (or low) points, and I ended up with a C because in the end I got what I originally wanted: two running clocks. But they don't run well (not what I paid for), and the process-- the *how* I got them back -- was a mess.

I brought the clocks (two very common, off-the-shelf
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
mantle clocks from the 1950's that belonged to my parents) to the EST store in Purcellville, which is about 35 miles round trip for me, in November of 2012. Both had been lovingly cared for and running fine for decades, but due to parents ill health had not been wound or running for the past five years. I was told by EST they likely needed to be cleaned. I got them back within a couple of months. When I picked them up, they weren't running at the time but I was told they had been and I should just restart them when I got them home.

One started ticking right away, one didn't. I brought it back. Picked it up a month later. It stopped after three days. Brought it back. Picked it up two weeks later. It stopped within a couple of days. Brought it back. Picked it up two months later. It stopped running again, brought it back again, you get the picture. I believe the final count (I kept copious notes) was nine separate trips (over 300 miles), about 15 months, and some understandably tense interactions. Sometimes I was told that 'the bushings needed to be adjusted', or 'there was a stinkbug in it'. Once, 3 days after I had dropped it off, I called to ask if it had been looked at yet and was told 'oh, yes, it's been fixed and running fine for the past two weeks'.

Finally the owner,
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
, told me that the employee who'd apparently been working on my clock all the first year was perhaps in the wrong profession and eventually left (or was terminated). Eventually
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
said he would personally replace the works on my clock. This took several months. Then the second clock (which we all assumed had been fixed) stopped running. I brought it back, and
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
said he replaced the works on that one, too. Both replacements were represented to me as '7-day works.'

One is still ticking and chiming regularly, although the full wind only lasts 4-5 days. The other one is likewise not a 7-day; I am lucky to get 4 days off a wind and it also periodically stops between winds. Both clocks are set perfectly on level, and wound fully. For the record I have several other clocks, including an old, very large grandfather clock. Its wind lasts for 7 days. I had it cleaned 30 years ago, but other than that, its performance has been flawless. Both of my parents' clocks had ticked and chimed and been wound on Sunday nights for nearly 50 years before they had stopped. The works that were replaced were represented to me as being the same that had been in there for 50 years. Yet they do not function the same.

I don't know why my experience was so unpleasant or so prolonged. I just know that for me it was a lot of money and a ton of time, too many phone calls, too many excuses, and too much driving back and forth. Having cared for clocks myself for 40 years, I know that they resemble living creatures in that they are all different, and diagnosis can be difficult. But I am sure this could have been handled better. While my experience was labored, fraught with mishap, and unnecessarily consuming, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that
Denver Antique Clock Repair Provider Name Locked
knows and loves clocks in all their various form and design.
