Dallas General Contractors Reviews

"We had a drawer in the kitchen that contained lots of silverware and cooking utensils suddenly drop down and become stuck and
unusable. When I finally got the drawer out, I saw that both the bottom of the drawer was displaced and that one of the tracks it slides on was loose and bent. I felt a little silly calling someone about this problem, but since the integrity of the drawer was involved, I wanted to get it fixed right so this problem would not recur.
We called
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
at
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and were thrilled we did. He was working in our area and came to help us the day we called. He quickly diagnosed the problems and proposed better solutions than I had thought of. He was able to reinstall the sliding rails, and took great care to secure them where they would not separate from the cabinets again. He even took great care to get and use the correct length screws so they would not poke through into adjoining cabinets. As for the drawer bottom, he proposed an elegant solution that involved placing a wooden brace on the bottom of the drawer to securely hold the bottom in place while also providing extra support. He had the wood he needed with him and quickly measured, cut and installed this brace. The drawer is now better than it ever was. We are thrilled.
While
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was here, we also had him look at the frame on our sliding garbage can drawer which was loose. He carefully resecured all the tracks and realigned the insert. This was a great little bonus for us.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was a joy to work with. He is a true craftsman.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is of German heritage and brings a clear sense of old-style German craftsmanship to his work. Ours was a small job -- one he could have done with little attention. He didn't do that. He provided us with high quality fixes to even a small problem. He did all this within his one hour minimum fee (plus $2.00 for the wood he supplied). It was a bargain! We will definitely have
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
back the next time our house throws us some nasty little surprise.

"Everything went beautifully.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew arrived between 7:30 am and 8:00 am every morning. They set up very quickly, and are extremely organized. I am amazed at how knowledgeable
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is with residential construction. Answers come quickly to your questions. He made this project look easy. He and his crew are friendly, and respectful of your property and clean up was complete. The finished product EXCEEDED my expectations. Hire
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. You will not be disappointed!

Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very competitive on price and responsive as issues arose during the remodel. His crews were polite and respectful of the worksite. Most of the subs involved on the contract did a good job, aside from a plumber whose work needed to be corrected several times due to leaks and poor fitting installation. I understand
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
no longer works with this plumber and worked hard to find other plumbers to make the situation right. The tile in the kitchen and bathroom also isn't an A+ - I would give it a B grade due to a couple of slightly loose tiles and some lazy cutting by the tiling sub, but these details are difficult to notice unless you're looking closely. The design of the remodel has worked out very well - as we're in a small house with space at a premium, I think
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
achieved nearly the maximum functionality of the space possible. Overall, we were pleased with the work.

"The company owner, Rocky, came to assess the work in order to provide an estimate. He is extremely knowledgeable about siding, woodworking/decking and stain. The bid was thorough, well organized and exceptionally competitive.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
the carpenters who did the work arrived on time and completed the project in the specified time frame. They left the job site clean and organized each day and returned after the stain dried to replace the items on the deck. Rocky, the owner, came to check the job on a regular basis.
The group at
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
are professional people - sharp, detail oriented, kind, clean and honest. The type of people you feel comfortable having work at your home. I really can't say enough good things about them, and I will certainly use them again.

Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
are hard workers and they were very flexible. My brother and I purchased a house that was a "fixer-upper" and the plan was to flip it into a rental house ourselves. We had a very tight schedule to work around (1 month) and the house needed to be fixed right away. When we realized that we could not complete the work ourselves in the short time frame, we called
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and several other firms right away.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out to do a thorough estimate and was very pleasant to work with. He had a very positive "we can do that" attitude about all the work we asked them to do. What sold us on
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was that they could begin work almost immediately and be finished in the time frame that we needed. I was very confident in
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his abilities. The scope of work constantly changed based on priorities (see termite story below) but they were able to adjust, adapt and overcome the problems we ran into along the way.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked like a well oiled machine. One night, my brother and I were doing some work on the house in the evenings and found that the water heater had been leaking for quite some time. We pulled back the damaged drywall and found extensive termite damage (termites love damp places). We revealed what we found to
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
the next day.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
quickly looked at everything and determined that the structure of the house was not impacted (which we were super stressing about). The load bearing walls had treated lumber installed when the house was built and the structure was not impacted at all. We were able to rip out all the damaged lumber and rebuild the closet with new lumber. He and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
were able to rebuild the whole closet like there never was a problem. That entire closet was gutted and replaced from the floor to ceiling. They also rebuilt the utility closet and installed an emergency drain
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
for the water heater to prevent any further leaking. This was not in the original scope of work but they concentrated on finishing this project before moving on to other tasks.
We had to replace every kitchen appliance (including the kitchen sink). My brother and I were going to tackle it ourselves until we realized that we were in way over our head. We already had the new counter tops (
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
) and appliances.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
made it look too easy. Everything fit like a glove and everything worked great and it turned out much better than if my brother and I tried to do it.
They were able to fix a hole in the roof by removing the section of roof that was rotted, then they replaced all of the rotten decking. They made sure to use the same shade and style of roofing shingles (we didnt ask them but they did it anyways).
I really appreciated their attention to detail on all repair matters and really appreciated their "can-do" attitude. They are definitely not the cheapest but I know we would not have gotten quality work like theirs for less money. They have a lot of experience and it shows. I would not hesitate to call them again for any other repairs or tasks.

"This review is being written over a year after the services were performed, which is actually good for
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the owner of this company. Had it been written closer to the time of the work, my emotions would have been at work and this review would be much worse. As it stands, I am no longer upset, but wish to make sure Angie's List works for its members the way it is intended: by providing the
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, honest purchaser of good and services with the information they need to pick a contractor with which to do business.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is an affable person, even if perhaps a bit too talkative. He is also a talented and knowledgeable contractor, in my untrained opinion. What he is not, always, is punctual, responsive, or willing to do what he needs to do to correct his mistakes. He also tends to deflect criticism and responsibility for his mistakes (or mistakes he is ultimately responsible for) onto others. For example, he never made good on his promise to clean up the motor oil that leaked onto my concrete repeatedly from one of his crew member's leaky truck. He just blamed the crew member, but my driveway never got cleaned up.
I can't remember what we paid for the work anymore; it's been too long. Let's assume it was a fair price for what we got, so no complaints there. But here is what we got: we got a bathroom remodel that even a home improvement novice would describe as merely serviceable, not excellent. Shower and floor tile grout lines are uneven, tub doesn't drain well (and hasn't since it was installed), tiles were chipped during installation and never got replaced as promised, shower and toilet caulking is sloppy, etc. The main issue we have is with our vanity, which sat in our garage unopened by
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
for weeks (that's another issue: this project dragged on a lot longer than it should have because
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
likes to talk, takes a lot of smoke breaks, and generally works kinda slow) despite repeated requests for him to look at it, measure it, check the plumbing connections, etc. well in advance of installing it.
As you might predict, the vanity went in at the end of the project, at that point everyone who has ever had work done on their house knows well -- the point when the CONTRACTOR is ready to get paid and get out of your house so they can go make money on another project. So when
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
saw the vanity for the first time and the plumbing connections, he finally realized it didn't fit perfectly, and the connections were not what he expected. Long story short, he had to saw down the drawers to make them fit, and improvise on the plumbing. The result: our vanity shelves not only look bad because they were just sawed off rough and in a hurry, but they actually scrape against the molding on our door when you open them, which is of course, destroying our molding. Top that off with the fact that our plumbing connection that
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
improvised leaks from time to time, and you don't know it until you go into the drawer for something (which could be weeks in between inspections), and you see/feel water everywhere.
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was made aware of all of these things upon completion of the project, plus some other issues that I didn't even bother mention here: his response was basically, "I'm done over there, and I ain't comin' back...unless you pay me to come back and fix my mistakes, in which case I'm happy to come back!"
Suffice it to say, we never asked him back; we just deal with the mediocrity that is our main bathroom.
The sad part of this whole saga is that
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has the potential to be so much better than this! I actually got to know him during this process and came to like him personally. To his credit, when Home Depot wanted to rip me off by not honoring a coupon for my chosen bathtub, it was
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
who took time out of his day to fight for me with the store and eventually got me my tub. I appreciated that a lot. But we also did things for
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, like give him and his crew beer if they put in a long day. H***, my wife baked him COOKIES one day. I also gave the dude free legal advice from time to time about how to deal with some of his deadbeat customers. But, sadly, in the end, none of that mattered, and
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
turned out to be just another contractor out there in DFW, not exactly fleecing people, but certainly taking a page out of the old
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
playbook and "Takin' the Money and Running"...
All true. I put my name on this.

Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
blew us away with the quality of work they performed on our home!
It was as if it were an extreme makeover.
The crew was incredibly professional, on time, courteous and responsive. Not only was the quality of their work superior, but they were incredibly clean as well. We hardly knew they had been in our home except that everything had been painted.
They definitely exceeded our expectations.
We always make it a practice to get at least 3 estimates from contractors before choosing someone to do work for us.
Not only did we really feel comfortable with
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
when he came to give us a bid, but
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came in at least $1000 lower than the other 2 contractors.
I really can't say enough about this company or what a great job they did.

"After seeing glowing reviews and getting decent service on the phone I've been totally forgotten and abandoned. No one has bothered to return my calls, or even provide the quotes I requested. In
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's words, "If you don't hear back, assume I'm not coming."Thanks
Dallas General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Glad to know my project meant so much to your company that you can even be bothered to deliver a quote.
I'd like to say more, but when you're ignored, it's tough to give much of a grade.
