Cable Tv Service Reviews in Dallas

After looking over options, installing the wireless box didn't make sense given the existing wiring, and it was too expensive at this point to rewire the house.

I signed up for high speed internet but have have problems consistently with my internet going down. Each technician had a different explanation of the problems. The last one told me I was not close enough to the source and should have had a lower speed from the beginning (this service is $5 less a month). He downgraded the speed and I have noticed a difference although the service has been more reliable. AT&T did give me a $15 credit for the trouble. However, I paid $5 more a month for a year than I should have. I feel that the individual who signed me up for the service should have known more than he provided.
I have not decided what to do about switching providers.

Technician was very friendly and helpful. The Uverse service has been as described, although they do get you in at the promotional rates and then the price goes up. Not a surprise, but a bit pricey.

I subscribed to uVerse 5-7 years ago. They offer bundles of television, internet and fixed line telephone service. When we signed up five years ago, the service cost less than $100 per month for everything. Plus, there was no contract to sign. We recieved HD DVR service as well. Here is the good: 1. If you have a problem with an outage (a frequent event) they will respond quickly. Usually the same day or next day. 2. When the service works, it's better than satellite or cable. 3. The customer service reps are well trained and flexible to deal with most pricing issues and service issues. The bad: 1. The "no cotract" aspect of their service gives them the right to continually raise rates. If you don't watch your bill carefully each month, you will see your bill inexoribaly rise over time. In a few years, you'l be paying double where you started. 2. The programming, especially movie channels, is very underwhelming for the price. You get a much better deal with Netfix. 3. My home is near the end of their fibre optic node. Frome the node to my house is copper--a few hundred feet less than their suggested limit of 3000 feet. Consequently, there was always competition for bandwidth at my house. Two people wanted to watch HD tv and the internet became unusable. My recommendation is not to select uVerse unless you are located very near a fiber optic node. 4. Their service technicians span the spectrum of competence. Some of these guys are so green and dumb, they will tell you they have everything working well when you can see with your own eyes that they do not. Oter guys are borderline geniuses. The come out and can fix nearly any issue. However, when you place a service call you trow the dice as to which end of the spectrum your tech will represent. And there's nothing that you can do about it except comlain until a competent tech is sent out. 5. As a long-time customer you get none of the benefits they offer to new customers. For example, uVerse has touted wireless modems that can be placed wherever you want in your house. Or, they will offer a terebyte hard drive for teir DVRs. None of this stuff is offered to existing customers unless you call customer service and make a big stink over it. Summary: their service is flaky and techs usually have to return a couple of times to fix the problem.

First they cut off my services at the old house a week early -- while I still lived there and I was told that if I wanted to keep the same phone number, I could not be reconnected even though the error was theirs. So installation day comes and the installer is right on time. And the first thing he tells me is that I will have to pay $50 for three of the outlets because they are in interior walls. This was never mentioned by the sales rep on the phone even though I had explained to him in detail what I had in mind. I kept asking, "No charges? Really?" because that just sounded too good to be true. He insisted it was. The installer insisted that this was incorrect. I called in to customer service and after being on hold a LONG time, was told that I must have misunderstood. The no charge outlets have to be pre-existing exterior wall outlets or something. I gave up. I'd been without any services for a week, so I told him to go ahead. OK, he did his thing. Left a mess of sheet rock crumbles of the floor and -- I know this is picky, but really -- two of the switch plate covers he installed are crooked. But the services worked fine ... for 5 days. Now my phone is out of service. When someone calls the number they get the "Number is no longer in service" message. When I call Time Warners ONLY published phone number, I get routed immediately to "Please leave a message for this number -- no TWC message or mention -- then that bumps me to the automated "This mailbox is full. Call back later." What kind of customer service is that? Are they so besieged by problems that they can't handled them all?

Cable, phone, and Internet all went out. Called multiple times, lots of discussions with supervisors. Kept getting told someone would be out, someone had come out, a fix is in progress, they weren't sure if someone had fixed the outside line or not, etc, etc. After 5 days without service, it finally got fixed. I canceled service and went with another provider.

Installation was much better and more professional than previous experience with Time

(cable) and DISH (satellite TV).
Technician was flexible with where he added new wiring and installed a wall plate connection instead of merely drilling a hole through the wall and pushing a cable through the way the DISH person did....More /> It did take about 4 days after ordering service for an available installation appointment. The appointment was set up around my work schedule and was started and completed in a timely manner allowing me to make it to work on time.
They use some standard equipment, so I recieved a "free upgrade" to my basic TV service and hardware so that it includes a wireless internet router and additional channels (free for the first 12 months).
I'm still waiting on a "bonus" gift card they send out as a promotion, but I expect it to arrive in the next few weeks.
When checking my old DSL account I suspect they may not have automatically closed the DSL account when I upgraded; I cancelled the automatic payment on that account and am now waiting for the next statement to see if they have it all straightened out.

was wonderful to work with. I had moved into a new house and had bought a LG 55" TV to mount on my wall. I did all the work myself, but had called

for some information on calibrating the TV in the environment I had put it in. He came and did a bang up job on it, and even did a quick "tune up" on my older model big screen that was relegated to a different room.

U-verse service is expensive when you add up all the "bundled services". I get just about everything; Phone, Internet, TV with all the channels and on-demand. I pay about $260/month on average. Yesterday, while watching the SuperBowl, all my services, TV, Phone, and Internet went out 6 times for several minutes (5-15 minutes) each time. Called AT&T and they said they could send someone out next day to inspect lines inside the house. I told them that it was likely an issue with the capacity of their lines/service. It was maxed out due to the high viewership of the game. (I am an IT person with 20+ years in business) They did not want to hear that because they have some guarantees when it comes to that sort of thing. They argued (incorrectly) that it was probably an issue with the wiring. They wanted to actually charge me to come out and inspect the lines in my house that they installed less than a year ago! I said no thanks and then they offered to "check it" for free to

that out. Then they would inspect the outside lines. What a bunch of crap!

Bottom line is, I have now gone through them all; Comcast, Dish, Direct and now U-Verse (Verizon is not available in my area). None are great, all are expensive. I guess U-Verse is the best one so far. I'll continue until someone comes up with a better offer.

First technician came and was pleasant enough but failed to finish the job; left connections loose; did not make sure that all issues were addressed before leaving; second technician did not show as scheduled. Late another day another technician showed up without an appt. He put in a new cable and changed out some connections. He said the company would call about someone coming to bury the new cable. They didn't call but a man showed up in my yard and said he was here to bury the cable. There are no instructions and no one has been able to give instruction in use of the remote so that all features I'm paying for are available. My internet is spotty at best.
