Awning Reviews in Dallas

First contacted them by email asking for an estimate. After no response for about a week, I called and left a message. After about another week, I called again and was able to talk to
, who said he'd contact Dek, his project manager, to set an appointment. When I didn't hear from him, I called again and was finally able to set an appointment.
was always congenial and apologetic for the delays.
Dek came and did a site survey, saying he would email me an estimate. He, too, was very congenial and gave me much more information about the job than other providers had. However, I did not receive an estimate and called
, who gave an off-the-cuff estimate. I also talked to Dek and, after asking what
estimated, he agreed that was about right. I agreed because I liked both of them and the way Dek handled the site visit. We agreed on a date.
Dek had materials shipped to the site beforehand and manually moved them because of limited access. He and his crew arrived as scheduled. He did not have a written estimate or contract and was not aware that
had agreed to install flashing where the carport met the house. Because of this, Dek did not have the flashing materials on hand.
Dek was very consciencious about discussing what I wanted done and how it could be done properly. He was very willing to make adjustments as needed and it was very obvious that he knew what he was doing. He took great pains to make sure all measurements were correct and the structure square. He and his crew worked fast and hard and finished, except for the flashing, early that evening. He told me it would be about 10 days before he could install the flashing because of a big job they were starting the next week. He offered to let me withold some of the payment until the job was completed. I trusted him, told him so, and paid him the full price..
After 5 weeks, I emailed Dek about the flashing and he was very apologetic about forgetting but agreed to come later in the week. However, it rained and that delayed another job, which delayed mine. After about 2 weeks, I called Dek and he said he would order the flashing right away and he emailed me a few days later saying he had it. When I hadn't heard from him in another week, I called him and left a message. When I hadn't heard from him by the next day, I called and left another message suggesting an alternative way to end the job. Dek returned that call the next day and set an appointment to install the flashing. One of his crew arrived as scheduled and finished, doing a good job. Overall, it took about 6 weeks for them to finish the job, which was over 3 months from when I first emailed asking for an estimate.
and Dek are good ole boys who do a good job at a fair price but are also good reminders to get everything in writing and don't pay for the whole job until it's done.

CAVEAT EMPTOR! I wanted an awning, and
sold me an awning. Nobody told me it would be mounted into unbraced
-Board, and also directly into the masonry / brickwork. The recent record snowfall weighed so heavily on the awning that it literally stripped the screws out of the
-Board / masonry. I contacted
about repair, and they said, "Nope, we don't do that." I'm glad they don't do that: both the repair carpenter and the repair mason looked at me like I was crazy when I told them the story. So, after an ADDITIONAL $1,400 later (for repairs), the awning resides at the side of my house, my masonry and
-Board is repaired, and never, NEVER again on the awning. I realize that I'm partially culpable, and that's why I didn't award any "F" grades. Again, I wanted an awning, and that's what I received. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

They are great; very friendly and professional. The price was good. It was a lot lower than the other company we checked out and the price is right!

I chose this company because of the Angie's List reports, but I had a lot of trouble getting a call back to set up for a quote. Eventually when a salesman did come out to quote I was impressed with the number of choices in fabrics and the salesman was detailed in his explanation on how the awning would be installed and how much sunlight it would let through. The salesman gave me a 6 week turnaround time (which seemed very long, but he attributed a backup to recent storm damage creating a lot of work for them). The installers showed up a week earlier than I expected, without calling, but my job was on the truck as an "extra" for the day. They got the install done in less than an hour.

Very professional. A little expensive, but I think the quality is worth the extra money. The workmanship was very good. They were very punctual.

I first used
Dallas Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
's back in 1989, at my first home in the "M-Street" area. When selling the home, I wanted them to re-cover the original awnings they installed, so they did 2 jobs for me at that home. In 2004, I needed a small awning over a back door at a different home, and because of my previous experiences, I called them to do that install. Each time, I was completely satisfied with their work, installers and pricing.
It may or may not make a difference to anyone reading this review that I have done a bit of contracting work as a "house-flipper", so have both a fair amount of knowledge and understanding of sub-contractors. While my experiences with
Dallas Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
's have been excellent, sometimes contractor's drop the ball...they respond slowly or fail to call back, so I will often take a negative review or two with a grain of salt...particularly if there are several positive ones. I have even experienced frustrating or lack of response with my stable of long-time sub-contractors. In almost all instances, there is a good explanation. Of course, if problems continue, I move on to another sub.
I have had good experiences with
Dallas Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
's, and while I am sure there are other reputable awning companies out there, I see no reason to "re-invent the wheel" and try some unknown entity when it comes to awnings in the future. As a matter of fact, I just referred them to a roofing contractor friend, which is what brought me to their site and prompted this review.

All of the projects were started and completed on time and on budget. The new driveway was torn out and completed in just a few days. When the old driveway was torn out it was discovered that the original driveway was poured without adequate reinforcement in the concrete, Empire was able to address this issue by securing the new reinforcement into the existing driveway to help stabilize the adjacent sections. After the driveway was complete I asked them to rectify the yard next to the driveway since it had also sunk several inches. They raised and evened out my front yard so that all of those areas that had sunk were now level, I also asked them to add a short retaining wall in the front corner of the yard next to the new driveway for landscaping purposed and add giant rocks. After this was complete they began work on the back of the house to tear out the old patio and build a new stone patio with a

over the entire patio. All of these projects were completed on time and on budget, if there were any modifications that needed to be made they were very easy to work with to get those changes made and in general were very accommodating whenever I had a question or concern or decided to make a change.
