"I had a pair of very small, black children's shoes that belonged to my father and wanted them "spiffed up" in order to give them to my son as a keepsake. When I went" in the shop I was greeted immediately and the young man I talked with seemed to understand exactly what I had in mind: reconditioning the existing leather, but not adding new leather to places that were worn, as this would look inappropriate on a pair of shoes that are over 100 years old. When I picked up the shoes, I was very pleased with the result . The leather had been reconditioned and worn places had been gently polished to blend in with the existing leather. I feel this employee of the shop treated our family treasure with respect and care. ( I have had other work done there a couple of years ago and was equally pleased.)

"I l;eft a pair of boots to be re-soled and was told they would be ready in about two weeks, and that they would call when done. A month later, without receiving a call, I checked back" and was told they needed another two weeks. After another month, and still not work done on the boots, I took them back. Totally unreliable.

"I was very impressed that they were able to fix them the same day. I expected it to take some time, but they called me a few hours after I dropped off the shoes to let me know they" were ready. The price seems a little steep, but this may be the going rate. I will definitely use them again.

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

My experience was fine, at first. I dropped off my shoes, the prices were reasonable. The bad experience started when I came to pick up the shoes on the date they said the work would be done. I came in and they looked everywhere for my shoes, found them and realized they hadn't touched them yet so they asked if I could come back a couple of days later. I came back a couple of days later and it happened again! They still hadn't worked on my shoes! They asked this time if I'd come back a few hours later and that they would work on them right then. I requested that they discount the service at this point because I had to come back 3 times, but they refused. I eventually got my shoes back, paid full price against my wishes, and will never go there again. One of the things they did was repair the heel - which is now not looking so hot anymore, so I don't even know if it was quality work.

Nice work, but pricey. Nice man took my shoes and wrote up the order. But a different man who handed me my shoes after they were done a week later was grouchy and never said thank you. The shoes look good, and they included a shoe shine, although it wasn't a great job.

The most recent experience has been ridiculous to say the least. When trying to pick up shoes this winter, I found the store closed many times when they should have been open. Even this "round" during better weather, we (learned to ) call first, and there was no answer at the shop during the Saturday afternoon hours that they should have been open. I dropped off my husband's shoes at least a month ago, and paid in full for new soles. They lost the shoes, lost the ticket, didn't have them ready (twice with 3+ weeks in between) and tried to add more charges when I did find them in their massive piles of unmarked shoes tossed throughout the shop. Totally unorganized and not particularly pleasant. When I found the shoes (they advised me I couldn't be behind the counter, but they also couldn't find my shoes) he THEN asked me about specifics on services that I'd already paid for, and blamed the loss on another store memeber checking them in. Actually, he checked them in. Again, I really want to support them- it's a good location for me, and better than buying new shoes. But not loving the service.

I was walking out of the office on a rainy day when I noticed my socks were getting wet. Sure enough, I had worn through the soles on another pair of dress shoes. I checked the List and and saw this shop was near my home and had favorable reviews. I called to check prices ($29 re-sole, $41 for re-sole + re-heel) and hours (good evening availability -- way better than my dry cleaners). I dropped off the shoes at the shop, they took my shoes and reviewed the services (I only wanted a new sole, leaving the current heel intact). I was told they'd be done in a few business days. They even wrote the shop hours on the back of my claim ticket so I'd be sure to catch them when they're open. I went back the afternoon they were promised and the shoes looked perfect! The new soles were perfectly fitted and were of great quality leather. I had polished the shoes a few days before taking them in, but I could absolutely tell the shoes had been polished again (and a much better job than I've done with years of practice). End result: My beat-up Italian dress shoes look and feel as good as new, for a small fraction of the cost to replace them. I take my shoes seriously, and I trust my shoes in the hands of

The work was done promptly, professionally and at a reasonable price. I even purchased a pair of shoes (the owner sells some dress shoes as well) for a very reasonable price and the owner even threw in a jar of shoe polish for free. The shoes all look great--one pair in particular needed some additional attention as I had worn a hole not only through the sole, but into the shoe compartment as well--the owner patched that and the shoes are in fine shape. I'd recommend this shop to anyone in need of excellent work at a reasonable price.

I dropped off a pair of heels and a pair of boots. The heels were repaired and price for it was fair ($8.00). I was a little disappointed that my boots would cost more than what I paid for. I just wished he would have told me this when I dropped them off a week before. However the gentleman explained in detail why it would cost more to repair rather than buying a new pair. Overall this

A simply phenomenal experience, from start to finish. When we arrived at
Columbus Shoe Repairs Provider Name Locked
on a Saturday morning, he let us know that he was actually moving locations, and had not planned to take any repairs that day. However, he made an exception and took on both adding a half-sole to a worn pair of dress shoes and repairing a broken strap on another pair of shoes. The work was completed, perfectly, by lunch time on Monday. The quality of the work was excellent, the dress shoes were polished, and you can't beat the price. Will definitely use

again for any shoe repairs we need.
