Columbus Wood Flooring Experts Reviews
We had all agreed on a stain sample we thought would work, but once he started applying it in a closet he was concerned that it may have been slightly darker than we anticipated. He stoped what he was doing and called us in to take another look. We all agreed lighter would be better. He re-sanded the closet (no additional charge) and the entire floor turned out beautiful. Couldn't be happier. I have two more bedrooms and a hallway/stair that I plan to have him back to do. In fact, will probably have him come back to re-do the entire living room/dining room/kitchen hardwoods that were done previously by others.
I would have absolutely no qualms about using him again or reccommending him to my neighbors.
Great work at a fair and competative price.
I highly recommend!!
It wasn't the lowest estimate I received, but worth it, with a 5% Angie's List member discount. It did take over a week for Chaz to return my initial call requesting an estimate, but he did return it eventually. They are a small company which is kept very busy due to good reviews here on Angie's List, so expect a bit of a delay. Once I had the estimate and decided to have them do the work they were able to schedule it for the next week, though I'm sure that's not always possible. Excellent communication including daily calls when they would be there and what they would be doing, one of the best contractors I've worked with in that respect. Overall I highly recommend them.
After the crew had finished the floor looked better than it ever had. You can't even tell that someone had messed them up before.
The flooring looks great. You can't tell where the patching was done, it looks awesome (and there was some "tricky" patching around/partially under already installed custom cabinets). The "refinishing" looks excellent, the floors are shiny and look very much like the flooring in our dining and living rooms (which is the same flooring as the kitchen, but wasn't in need of refinishing). We would *definitely* contact Chaz again with other wood flooring projects!
I cannot compare his estimate to the others we got because all the others were for sanding/refinishing (not the TyKote).
All information about the job (including materials cost and adjustments requested by myself as the homeowner to the insurance specs to repair the damage) was provided to them in advance of the work. I entered into the contract with Deluxe believing that they would do the work as promised and within the insurance budget as promised.
The first red flag which I unfortunately ignored is that they never delivered on a requested project plan that had all the figures plugged in. I trusted their assurance that they would do the work as we had agreed upon and signed off on. (Ironically and tellingly, no estimate was ever given to me for any dollar amount beyond the insurance funds that the project would require.)
During the early stages of the project when I raised concerns about the time that the work was taking due to the slowness of their workers, they stated that there wouldn't be additional charges for the work. They at some point changed in their minds.
Attempts were made to pull the contract out of breach but Deluxe refused to provide a written, legally binding statement that they would complete the work as agreed upon and for the amount provided for the work by the insurance company. Their representative - Dick Lelux (who also does business as
The work done was painfuly and inexplicably slow with uneven levels of workers there in a day. Sometimes Deluxe would send a crew of two, other times one person would show, others Deluxe crew members needing to fill hours between jobs would come and hang out and do very little work. A day was sometimes 6 hours, sometimes 7, sometimes 5 - but never a "full" day.
550 square feet of hardwood floor (which a crew of 2 could do in 2 - 3 days) took 2 weeks (roughly 2 days total of that time was spent removing old floor and nails - which Deluxe wanted to initially
A 170 square foot kitchen needed cabinetry and a ceramic tile floor removed, a new floor laid and cabinetry reinstalled. 3 weeks of work and this tiny kitchen is still not completed. Parts of the ceramic tile floor - which took them two weeks to
5 plus weeks on the job and I'm left with a house that isn't finished and an experience with Dick Lelux which included him recording conversations without my knowledge or consent (he has done this to other Angie's list members and has freely admitted it in his replies to their concerns). The minute the contract was breached I sent the one worker who showed up on a Saturday because the deadline has passed for the completion of my kitchen home. Dick Lelux was texted and called to resolve the situation but would not speak to me.
I fully expect Mr. Lelux to leave incredibly unprofessional responses to the above ratings and factual criticism as he does toward any individual who leaves a legitimate complaint about their negative experiences with his company.
On a bright note - if you do find yourself needing to use Deluxe for any reason, be sure to ask for
