Columbus Flooring Installers Reviews

"This job was to replace my bathroom flooring on not entirely level old-house floor. I had thought I could do the job myself, but I soon discovered it was beyond my ability. This was a small job -some companies didn't even respond to my request for an estimate. When I contacted
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
thru Angie's List, I received almost immediate response, and
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
came to do an estimate within a few days. The estimate he gave was the exact charge after the job was finished - that was nice! On the day of the work, I was impressed that from the minute the floor guys entered my home, they were respectful and very professional. They had the tools and supplies they needed with them, even brought in their own trash container. They wasted no time getting to the work and the job was completed much quicker than I had thought - very efficient crew. When the work was done, there was no clean-up required - the floor guys had done it all! And the floor looks great, feels great! I am very happy to recommend them to friends and family.

"We were impressed!
The fact that he came out to our house and ended up talking us into doing the job in a way that didn't require us to use his services speaks very well of his integrity.
Great attitude as well.
We will not forget his response, and we are finding ourselves trying to figure out where else we might be able to use his skills.

"The experience ended in a breach of contract by Deluxe with them demanding more money than the contracted amount that they agreed to do the job for.
All information about the job (including materials cost and adjustments requested by myself as the homeowner to the insurance specs to repair the damage) was provided to them in advance of the work. I entered into the contract with Deluxe believing that they would do the work as promised and within the insurance budget as promised.
The first red flag which I unfortunately ignored is that they never delivered on a requested project plan that had all the figures plugged in. I trusted their assurance that they would do the work as we had agreed upon and signed off on. (Ironically and tellingly, no estimate was ever given to me for any dollar amount beyond the insurance funds that the project would require.)
During the early stages of the project when I raised concerns about the time that the work was taking due to the slowness of their workers, they stated that there wouldn't be additional charges for the work. They at some point changed in their minds.
Attempts were made to pull the contract out of breach but Deluxe refused to provide a written, legally binding statement that they would complete the work as agreed upon and for the amount provided for the work by the insurance company. Their representative - Dick Lelux (who also does business as
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Leux and
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Lelux) said "trust me" rather than provide what any reputable business owner would.
The work done was painfuly and inexplicably slow with uneven levels of workers there in a day. Sometimes Deluxe would send a crew of two, other times one person would show, others Deluxe crew members needing to fill hours between jobs would come and hang out and do very little work. A day was sometimes 6 hours, sometimes 7, sometimes 5 - but never a "full" day.
550 square feet of hardwood floor (which a crew of 2 could do in 2 - 3 days) took 2 weeks (roughly 2 days total of that time was spent removing old floor and nails - which Deluxe wanted to initially
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
the new hardwood floor over. There were days when less than 75 square feet of hardwood floor was laid by a crew of two people.
A 170 square foot kitchen needed cabinetry and a ceramic tile floor removed, a new floor laid and cabinetry reinstalled. 3 weeks of work and this tiny kitchen is still not completed. Parts of the ceramic tile floor - which took them two weeks to
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and which one of their workers told me I'd need to remove remaining grout haze and seal the tile myself - are uneven and need to be chiseled out and replaced. I was told by Dick Lelux that the floor would look fine as long as bright light wasn't shining on it.
5 plus weeks on the job and I'm left with a house that isn't finished and an experience with Dick Lelux which included him recording conversations without my knowledge or consent (he has done this to other Angie's list members and has freely admitted it in his replies to their concerns). The minute the contract was breached I sent the one worker who showed up on a Saturday because the deadline has passed for the completion of my kitchen home. Dick Lelux was texted and called to resolve the situation but would not speak to me.
I fully expect Mr. Lelux to leave incredibly unprofessional responses to the above ratings and factual criticism as he does toward any individual who leaves a legitimate complaint about their negative experiences with his company.
On a bright note - if you do find yourself needing to use Deluxe for any reason, be sure to ask for
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. The time that he spent on the project was invaluable. He truly is a professional who's main concern is the customer's satisfaction. He has incredibly high ethical standards and a stellar quality of work.

"I would not recommend this company. The owner
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
would agree to a schedule to perform the service and then either not show or his crew would re-schedule the day of once I called to see why they were late for an appt. The time frame quoted on the project was off and it required additional days.
The new wood that was put down in some areas was suspect and below acceptable quality standards. The finished product looked over-buffed in several areas and lacking shine in other areas. When I called to ask for someone to come out and look at the finished product
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was very short and confrontational.

"I really wanted to be able to give
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
a good review. He's a very likable, one man shop. From the beginning, he told us that his reputation was the most important thing to him. And I believed him.
His original bid was to refinish existing oak floors to match the pre-finished wood that was installed when we tore the carpet out of an addition.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was very clear that the job was to match the existing wood and told us that he was very confident that he could match it closely. We left town for a week and upon return, found that our newly refinished floors looked great, but they were a completely wrong color. The floorboards that they were to match were brown, the new floor was very red.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's response? "Yeah, we notice that as we were doing it. I was afraid that was going to happen."
So, I, trying to be a reasonable person, agreed to pay
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
$550 more to come and sand down the pre-finished floors to match the new red floors, he would "throw in" moving our fridge,
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, and piano out of the way. He arrived and did exactly what he was supposed to. He then presented me with a bill for $640, $550 plus the cost of moving the
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and fridge. He decided to only "throw in" the piano. I paid him and he left. I had a bitter taste in my mouth about paying him to fix his screwup, but I just wanted my floors done right.
The next day, it was obvious that the poly he had used on the newly completed part did not match the
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
of the previous finish he had done weeks earlier.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's response? "I was afraid that was going to happen."
We were getting ready to leave town for a month. He agreed to come out after we returned and put down water-based poly, just to even out the
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. When we got home, and he arrived to do the even-out, He started to talk to me about how much per square foot we had "discussed." I told him I didn't think I should have to pay again and he grudgingly buffed the floors and put a coat of poly on them, leaving abruptly. When I called him a few hours later (he told us we could walk on it after 1/2 hour) to tell him that there were swirls from the buffer showing through the poly, guess what his response was? "He was afraid that was going to happen." He came out and put one more coat on, leaving so quickly that he didn't even tell us he was leaving, he just texted us after he had left.
The next day, it was obvious that his instructions about waiting 1/2 hour were incorrect. My dog's paws (not nails, but paws) had left smudgy scratches all over the floor. My guess, confirmed by a new floor refinisher, is that while 1/2 hour was enough to dry, it was not enough to set, creating protection from scratches.
I called
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
several times and left messages, he did not return my calls. I finally received a response to a text message. He would come out and do it again, but this time, there would have to be a charge. After much back-and-forth, he agreed to give me a "deal" of $.75 per square foot to go over the area. While this may be a deal, it's certainly not the same guy who was only worried about his reputation.
I really wanted to like
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. I think that possibly under different circumstances he would have done a fine job. But one thing keeps bothering me. Of all of the times that he was "afraid that was going to happen," why didn't he just do it right instead of hoping for the best and leaving?
Do I like
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
? Yes. Would I ever recommend his services to anyone? I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

"The salesman came across nice but was not honest with everything he told us. He supposes to email the estimate but never receive it nor did he call. We thought the estimate was outrageous. We called
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
manager and was told that the salesman should have left us with the quoted price. I think he was trying to ripe us off. We consulted with another company and their price was less than 3/4 the price he quoted.

"How can I say enough good things about
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and his crew? Even from the initial estimate, we knew that
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was our guy, we had other estimates come in slightly cheaper, but only
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
showed up, project photo album in hand, offering more expert advice, guidance, and suggestions than all of our other estimates combined.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
displayed a true passion for his work, and was ready and willing to work with us through every step of the project.
We had worked with
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
to pick out the perfect material for our floor and backsplash. We later came to find out that
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Long also has an 'excellent' working relationship with
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, and was quickly able to work with the supplier to obtain our materials (and a quote for the materials) as soon as we were ready to proceed.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
is a family company (which
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
is very proud of) and it certainly showed in the professionalism and courtesy shown by every member of his work team. By the end of Day 1, not only did the floor layout look amazing, but
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, his brother, and his other relatives made the process both fun and enjoyable. This was one of the last projects in a significant home remodel, and I can honestly say this has to be one of the best crews in Columbus for anything, not just floors.
What about the finished product? I couldn't be happier.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was a straight shooter with me from the start, and every step of the way explained how different pieces would fit together, showing me pattern options, how grout colors look different in sun and shade, and explaining how cut edges of ceramic vs. cut glass will give different finishes. If there was a decision to make,
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
would give his professional opinion, but left nothing to be assumed. The end result was an amazing, pinwheel-patterned floor, with a white subway tile backsplash w/ a glass accent. With such a large pattern, and small kitchen,
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's team took precise care to ensure the pattern was cut and laid to give the most dramatic effect.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
ran all glass tile up to the ceiling behind the range, giving a dramatic focal point to the kitchen. I had very high expectations set for this job, and
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Long exceeded them!
One thing to keep in mind:
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Long is a busy guy. I would suggest planning at least 4 weeks for a similar-sized project. In my case, I told
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
I wanted it done yesterday, and he worked with me to send guys over, even if for a half day, to get my project started as soon as possible. He even was able to complete it in a little under one month. But trust me, it is worth the wait!

"The installer arrived in the time frame given to me, which I believe was an hour window. He was nice, but didn't talk much. He came in and got the job done and it looks great so I'm happy! I believe the room I had done was about 10 x 12 and it took about 45 minutes. I would definitely use
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Karpet again."

"
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
owns and manages the business. She performed the measurements and estimates and sent us the information by the next day. She was efficient, knowledgeable, sought additional information about stain repellent to answer my questions, and returned my calls in a timely way. The carpet had to be ordered and there was a delay due to original carpeting having a hole not seen until inspected the day it was to be sent from the supplier. Once delivered, the installation was scheduled and performed in a timely way - over a two day period.
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
requests half of the payment at ordering date and comes to inspect at end of installation and address any issues prior to the final payment. Her installers were professional and worked into the evening hours the first day. I am pleased with the quality of the carpet. If I ordered again, I might order the next lighter color - as an 18-30 inch sample does not appear as dark or as light as an entire room.

"There were some unsatisfactory issues with the product quality, no fault of
Columbus Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. They were handled quickly and professionally and in the end, exceeded my expectations. I believe that is a measure of a quality merchant.
