Asphalt Driveway Reviews in Columbus

I have used
of years. Only one time I didn't use them and the job done by that company was so poor that they had to return to do it correctly. Went back to
and for the most part have always been please. This year, the sealant was done sloppily. Black sloped on my front porch columns and all over the grass. The grass will grow out, but the columns will have to be cleaned or painted to cover. I will be contacting
to see what they want to do and I will revise this report after that conversation.
- JIM D.

The short version is that I called Remedy in August of 2011 to come out to our chiropractic office and give me an estimate on a new parking lot. He said he'd do it for about 7000 and that he'd stripe it and seal it the following year as an added bonus. He told me it would be a couple of weeks because they were fairly booked up, and that was fine. I paid him half the money upfront for materials.
September comes and goes...he's still backed up with other projects. October is half over and it's getting cold. I'm calling him every other day asking when he'll be here. Finally he comes out the first week of November and it's not his company. It's
Sealing and Paving. He has subcontracted them to do the work because he can't get to me. Granted
did a great job, but I didn't hire
, I hired Remedy. The job's done though, and I'm ready to move on. I pay Remedy for the remainder of my bill.
2 months later I get a letter in the mail indicating there is a Mechanics
being placed on my property for failure to pay a bill from
Sealing and Paving. I call RJ from Remedy and no one answers. I call
and I'm told that I never paid. I say yes I did and I have a receipt proving it. Apparently RJ never felt inclined to pass that money along to
and because I own a commercially zoned property I am legally bound to any subcontracted companies as though I hired them myself.
So fast forward 2 years and I am still dealing with the
and trying to get RJ to do what he said he will do, and have
's bill paid off, etc. Finally, Daltons decided to drop the
because they realized that I'm caught in the middle of this whole thing just like they are.
Moral of the story is that I would never ever recommend anyone to hire RJ
. Ever. He will lie to you, and sell you a bill of goods that may never arrive. Avoid him like and invest your money in someone reputable.

Asphalt Driveway reviews in Columbus

Overall, the quality of the sealcoating appeared much better than our previous 2 service providers and at a better price. The only negative was that our scheduled day got pushed back a day and the work was performed when we were out of town. When we came back we noticed that due to our unusual driveway configuration (we share a driveway with another residence and the city recently tore up our driveway to install sewer lines) the last 15-20 feet of the driveway was not completed. Still we were satisfied with the quality of their work.

I called and got on the schedule to have the driveway (120 feet long) sealcoated two weeks later. I then got a call that they could do it the next day. The guys arrived promptly as scheduled, edged and cleaned and put the first coat on. They paid particular attention to some larger cracks. The winter of 2013-2014 had been pretty rough on the driveway. They came back about 3 hours later to apply the second coat.
All the work was done well, they left no mess. (I previously had a company that seal coated a good portion of my lawn while they were at it.) These guys left no residue, no footprints, just a well sealed driveway.
This company had sealed my driveway previously, did good work then, and so I hired them again this time. I have no problem recommending them and I'll hire them again when the need arises.

Overall this is a good company because they did excellent workmanship on the driveway. I would definitely use them again. However, the process of getting an estimate was difficult which is reflected in some rating categories above. I had my driveway replaced along with my neighbor last year with another Angie's List provider. The company who installed the driveway said I should have it sealed this summer and they recommended

and left a message requesting an estimate for multiple driveways. I called again about a week later and spoke with

, the owner of

, who said he would come out and give me an estimate by the following Wednesday. He did not come nor did he call to give me any idea of a modified estimate schedule. I then called 8 other A-rated Angie's List providers for estimates and only 2 of those returned my call and came to do an estimate. I was going to hire one of the other companies but my neighbor strongly preferred waiting for an estimate from

because of the positive opinion the driveway installation company had of

came and did an estimate.

called me with the estimate, told me he'd be able to do the work the following week and would give me 1-2 days notice. We spoke the day before the work was done and

said they'd be arriving at 8:00 a.m. the following morning. The actual arrival was 9:00. The work was performed quickly (less than an hour) and they did a great job and left a clean work area. The cost was $253 for a single coat (my other two estimates were $171 and $396).

They we're prompt, applied two coats as promised, explained how the patch was done and advised me to not drive over the patched area for 10 days as it might remain soft or place board over the patched area to protect it for a week or so
- Diane T.

Called them to ask if they did small jobs and patch work. I have a small area behind the house that is about 8 x 8' that needed work. I had called a few other asphalt companies that were not interested in doing a small job like this. When I called Jet Seal I specifically asked if they did small jobs and they said yes. They said they would be out to do an estimate within 2 days. A week later I called and they said they were back up due to rain and they would get right on it. Another week passed and i called again. They left me a message basically saying that they were not having luck with scheduling their patching people and basically would not be doing the job. I waited 2 weeks for nothing and I am in the process of selling my home and the work needs to be down asap. Very upset about this service especially as they were recommended by a friend.

From start to finish the entire experience could not have gone any better! I first contacted this company along with several others to get an estimate on resurfacing a private road that serves two homes and my driveway.
Columbus Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very responsive and came right out. He quoted me both on asphalt, that I initially thought I wanted, and then the Chip and Seal option. Because this is a shared road with shared cost, the Chip and Seal was the most cost effective.
Columbus Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
actually introduced this to me and explained that it has good long term durability and the technology has been around for many many years. Not many offer it because it requires a different slate of equipment. I also watched the video on his web page that further explained it. Fast forward, a few weeks when I contacted
Columbus Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
back to schedule the work. He told me he would be out following week on Thursday to do the grading and then back on Friday to install the Chip and Seal. Sadly, I was away on business so I could not observe the work while it was performed but after, my neighbor, who has exacting standards made a point to tell me that they really took their time on both days to do it correctly. The finished product exceed my expectations and really accomplished what I was after. I highly recommend this company if you are looking for this or asphalt work as I think he would put the effort and commitment into that as well. Frankly, I felt so strongly that I wanted to enter them into the Angie's List Family. This is the first time I have done so.

An estimator was sent out the same day I contacted the office. He explained in detail what would be done and when. He gave me a written estimate that also included detailed information about the process that would be followed. When I contacted the office I was able to get the work scheduled when I wanted it to be done (subject to the weather cooperating of course). The day of the prep work and application of the first coat I got a call first thing reminding me to move cars. The team of two alerted me to their arrival and then did the prep work (edging back grass from the driveway and filling cracks in the driveway.).They returned two hours later to apply the first coat. Early the next day they returned to apply the second coat. Three days later they returned to remove the signage.
The whole project went like clock work and the workers were diligent and kept me well informed. I used this company two years ago and will plan on using them again in the future.

In May I had called
Columbus Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
and spoke with one of the workers. At the time, the owner was out due to medical reasons. I was able to schedule an $89 dollar promotion even though I had not done so through the site. We agreed upon a time and the drive was eventually sealed (it was delayed by the rain but that isn't their fault). The seal was as promised and all the cracks were handled.
So why am I giving it an F? When I was finally able to pull into my garage, I noticed a lot of black spots on my grey trim and white garage door. Thinking it was some debris, I tried to clean it with no success. I called and left a few messages about it, but I didn't hear back from the owner until a few weeks ago. He explained that this had been done by his techs (he had just returned). He told me he would get the stone washed and a painter to take care of the stains on the door and surrounding trim. He never gave me a frame of WHEN to expect this work.
It has been over a month since my check was cashed and the work was done. While I understand I am not his only customer, my garage has made for a conversation topic one time too many for my liking (it's all the PR you could ever NOT want). Were it not for this incident, I probably would have given them an A. I will be glad to give this company a far more favorable review when I see that the promised actions have been taken.
