Masonry Reviews in Cleveland

's secretary contacted me within 2 days of my initial phone call/message to get more information. She said that she would relay the information to Mr.
and that he would contact me to set up an appointment. It's been over a week and I haven't heard from him.
- Emily H.

returned my call within 2 days and set up a time to come to my house. He gave me an hour window (4-5pm on Saturday). However he never showed up or called to cancel or re-schedule. I find this behavior unprofessional and rude. I had left a family event early to make this appointment with him. Everyone's time is valuable and should be respected.

Highly recommend

! After contacting Mr.
Cleveland Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
through Angie's list, he set up an appointment for the next day. He took a look at the front porch and chimney and made a determination of what needed to be done without going overboard. Instead of replacing the entire front porch, he and his colleague were able to remove the damaged bricks (supporting the lowest riser),

new supportive structure behind the brick (prevent this from happening again), and replace with brick that matched the house. They removed and replaced a crumbling brick (supporting the top riser). Inappropriate mortar remaining from another contractor was ground off. Mortar cracks from this previous work were also sealed. The team also repaired chimney bricks, built a new crown wash, and stabilized the flue. The price was reasonable. They were prompt, professional, easy to work with, and answered all my questions. My house is better protected and more beautiful as a result.

all but replaced the front steps (7) to my house. He salvaged bricks that he could reuse dismantled broken bricks and

that was crumbling - reworking something that I had paid to have done a few months before. He also replaced all the broken platforms. He/his team was wonderful. He came, looked at the job, explained what needed to be done. He, came completed the job in a timely fashion, cleaned up and was gone.... I

A highly proficient crew of three setup, completed the masonry and cleanup in one day. They returned for a short time the following day to add a sealant for the flashing.
I am very pleased.

The small back porch on our 80+-year-old house was slowly collapsing because the brick piers holding it up were unsound. I needed somebody to fix the porch's foundation. I also needed somebody to rebuild the porch itself -- its floor was rotting and the joists holding it up were failing. Pat previously had done nice work on tuckpointing my front steps, so I contracted with him for this masonry job. It was the right call. He's very skilled, honest, conscientious, and courteous. Pat assessed the situation and recommended a course of action: remove the piers; install footers, as necessary; rebuild the piers; tuckpoint the masonry steps; and fix the back wall of the house, which needed tuckpointing and holes filled in. He executed the solution expertly and at a fair price. Furthermore, at my request, he recommended a contractor to handle the porch rebuild. I took his recommendation. Again, the right call. Pat instills that kind of trust. The contractor pulled the porch away to expose the masonry and used temporary supports to hold up the porch roof. On separate days, Pat performed the masonry work, which included installing partial concrete footers. The contractor then returned to rebuild and reinstall the porch on its now sound foundation. Pat took the lead in coordinating his and the contractor's work. And he was outstanding in communicating with me throughout the process. The end result is a porch that is rock solid, safe, and looks great.

Horrible. They failed in every way.
If it was just in craftsmanship I would not be so upset but these are not good people.
It was always difficult to reach anyone but the secretary and she flat out lied on two occasions with regard to the date that they would be out to finish work. The concrete porch was poured sloppily, causing dozens of pea sized bits of concrete to splash onto my siding, which I spent several hours trying to remove but many will never come off. When finished with the lower concrete porch they left equipment and supplies in my yard and driveway for 5 days - I was parking in the street because they kept saying that they would come back the next day. Additionally, 15 sqft of grass died. They installed a second floor deck over what was supposed to be a water tight roof to keep the lower porch dry. The deck is poorly done with nails bent over, uneven planks, mismatched cuts and no end pieces to give it a finished look. All this took nearly two months, I was patient but I would give them a call after a week and ask for a estimate of when they would be back and the secretary would say "I'll call you back" which she rarely did and even then she would say they are on their way and then nobody shows up.
About two weeks after the last check was sent I notices some "stains" in the wood in the

and grove ceiling. I recognized them as the

that are left behind after water dries from wet wood. I immediately called and they said that it was probably the gutters were not sealed good enough and that they would come out to fix it. Three weeks and three calls later a guy was out working in the dark trying to fix it. I would come home from work after a storm and continue to see wet ceiling boards in more and more places. I told them that the caulk did not fix it. no response and the "mailbox was full" so no new messages could be left for weeks. finally I found a number of one of the employees and called and said I was really very upset that the ceiling looked damaged and that they had not fixed the problem. The said that they would come out on Saturday to look and never came. I left a few more messages and finally someone answered. I yelled and told him they had one more

to show that they were not going to fail me. They never came or called back.
I tried adding more caulk but it did not help. I believe it is in the roof and the upper deck will need to be pulled up so the roof below can be resealed. The wood ceiling will either need to be replaced or painted because the stains go across the length of the porch and it looks bad.
