Hasn't addressed Mary Adie's request for a refund because she says they couldn't control or remove the bats from her house. Third month in the box.

COMPLAINT: Pat Aufdenberg, Berea, Ohio

"I hired Handyman Connection to repair some water damage in my three-season room. They offered to pull up the rug and remove the glue for an additional $350. It looks like they made no attempt to remove the glue. I called to ask for a refund, and they politely told me that the best they could do is have the man come out and redo the job.

"I don't want him to redo the job because he didn't do a good job the first time. There was a six-month period of time I was willing to let it go; however, after rethinking this, I can't afford to shrug off that much money."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like a $350 refund."

RESPONSE: Earl Richards, owner, Handyman Connection

"After the work was completed the customer signed off on the work order, stating she was satisfied. Six months later, the customer called and decided to say she was unhappy and wanted a refund. This is highly suspect.

"We offered to have someone inspect the job and if there were issues we would correct them. She refused. We'll offer a $150 refund. The work order clearly states we'd remove as much glue as would come up. The floor wasn't supposed to, or expected to, be clear and free of all adhesive."

STATUS: Resolved

Editor's note: Handyman Connection and the member were able to agree on a refund amount of $200.
