The next contact I had from him was the suddenly "$9000+"bid (that I was to also supply some materials.)
..............................(Plain Materials could have been Up to $2000-3000 alone).
THAT COULD HAVE MADE IT "UP TO 300% or so MORE" than
(Your Library has that too SO USE IT!)
I lost a lot of respect for
The bottom line is find your own vendors via Angie's List; others can give names but INDEPENDENTLY verify them; (otherwise worst case it could be their cousin or friend even)
don't HORSE AROUND WITH OUTFITS LIKE THIS! He wasted our time.
I am a degreed engineer with several Masters degrees & years of construction experience,so is even more disconcerting to me as a professional to see this happen.
It appears he is a also a Real Estate agent according to the web (if same name). IF So; what would you say if your rep. came back SEVERAL Thousand Higher?
GET a focused vendor that is optimally honest and forthcoming ..(without them having possible multiple distractions)
...........NOTE : to Angies List staff: List this per the co. website info. . so people can see this per real name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I needed a wall built to hide a service area. It was to be about 6ft wide and did not adjoin any other wall. The architect wanted this wall attached to the old ceiling, for stability, above the existing drop ceiling.
I had a meeting with him to discuss what I wanted done in the bathroom. He didn't take any notes so I emailed him mine and asked that he acknowledge receipt. He did. I also sent him a diagram. When he installed the fan housing in the center of the ceiling, I referred to the notes that put the light in the center. He quipped "you could get a light kit for the fan". I had to tell him to move the fan - twice - despite the drawing. To avoid moving it the third time, he called the manufacturer. He told me they told him it was OK where it was. This meant keeping a 90 degree elbow in the exhaust duct, which the manufacturer's written instructions said was a no-no in the first 36 inches. Again, I compromised to avoid having another hole in the outside wall for the duct. When he billed me for 14 hours to install the fan, I asked him to provide a detail of the charges because it looked like he was charging me for his mistakes. He did not give me a break down - he didn't finish. The fan, itself, was still in the box and the damper was missing when I got the bill for the fan install. At the start, he said the damper was ordered. Two months later, he said he needed to order it. After billing, he said it would be ordered when he got paid.
I could never tell if he actually thought he did nothing wrong. It was pretty clear he wanted more money no matter the problem. He was hard to fire, too. He just didn't get it. It creeped me out.
