and his partner worked quickly and did a great job. Kieths years of experience pays off in getting what could have been a tough job done with apparent ease and quickly. I am very happy with the result. ...more /> I'd recommend

He started removing the carpet and I stopped him because he was damaging the wood beneath the tack strip.
The foreman chose an inferior method of tack strip removal. There are two ways to mechanically remove tack strips. ...more /> 1) flat bar and hammer. Pounding the hammer between the floor and the tack strip and then prying up the tack strip.
2) cats claw/nailpuller and hammer. Pounding the cats claw into the tack strip itself and then prying up the nails through the tack strip.
If method number 1 is used, there is damage to the hardwood floor below. Either the flat bar chips into the floor as it is wedged between the tack strip and floor or it hits the tack strip horizontally and bangs the nails against their holes which widen the holes and flake out the wood around the nail holes.
If method number 2 is used, then damage is minimized because the tack strip absorbs all the prying and the nail is pulled straight upward rather than being wedged against the sides of its hole.
The foreman chose method number 1. When I stopped his work, he had already flaked up some of the beautiful 100 yr old hardwood flooring underneath and widened the nail holes. He panicked, ran to his truck, got some woody putty/glue and tried to repair it, he then packed up his tools and left the remaining tack strips for me to pull up myself (which I did without damaging the wood).
When I spoke to the representative on the phone, he yelled at me, told me they weren't ever doing work for us again, and then actually hung up on me.
Then to top it all off………….. The foreman leaves the demoed carpet lying in the middle of our porch!!
1. You don't quote a job, then show up to do the job and THEN realize that it is outside your expertise.
2. If you specialize in carpet and hardwood, you ought to know how to remove carpet without damaging the floor below it.
3. If you make a mistake, then apologize for it. don't get flustered, yell at a customer and then hang up on them just because you are embarrassed and being defensive about it.
4. You don't leave debris laying in the middle of a clients porch.

My whole experience with

was very pleasant from start to finish.
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was very professional, prompt, and communicative throughout the whole process.
The oak floors in our house were pretty badly worn. After 8 years of use and abuse from us and our 3 young kids, they were in desperate need of attention....More />

came out and gave us the rundown of possible treatments, and was very straightforward about what results we could expect. We had some deep knife

in the hardwood from carpet that had been installed on top of the oak floors previously, so we knew that whatever route we went with, short of tearing out the floors, nothing was going to get rid of the worst of the damage. Of the options available, we decided to go with the

Prep Recoat, which is basically a light refinish job that involves sanding to remove the previous urethane finish, stain is then used to even any discoloring from sun damage, and then 2 coats of high-quality urethane are applied.

was clear that the Recoat wasn't going to get rid of heavy

in the wood, and given the price difference, and the fact that we were dealing with other uncorrectable damage, we opted for that over the full refinish. Plus, with the Recoat option there was virtually no dust.
I'll say the results were excellent, and better than expected. We had a couple areas that had significant bleaching due to sun exposure, and

was able to even out the color very, very well.

they came to our home and gave us a quote. They were very good to explain the entire process. Due to the fact that we have two dogs and would have to be out of the house for about a week we delayed doing this.

and his team did a good job. He came recommended from a coworker. After getting 2 other estimates, I found that he was very competitive in his pricing and was confident in his work. I was quoted that the work would be done in a week, however, once they started the work, the floors were a little more difficult to sand than they anticipated. Since the following Monday was Memorial Day,
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
politely offered to finish the work on the holiday since the project was not completed within the timeline but I told him Tuesday would be fine. I was also concerned about the 2 color options that they gave me, but one of his crew members was able to show me a third option that was exactly what I wanted. They also use 3 coats of poly finish, where most companies only use 2.
My only complaint is that I do not like the toe molding that they used to finish the work, as it is a different type of wood than my floors. However, with an 85+ year old home, I don't expect perfection.

Scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on Saturday and the company never showed up. I called and left messages and still haven't heard back. Very disappointing.

I called
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
Flooring (
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
) on January 21, 2014 to inquire about an estimate for refinishing the hardwood flooring in my main living space, approximately 600 square feet.
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
seemed very knowledgeable about his trade and asked me to send pictures, which I did on 1/22/14, along with very detailed measurements, including door openings. I obtained another quote for the work and after some back and forth, we agreed for
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
to start on Wednesday 1/29/14.
When he arrived, we discussed the job, how long we needed to be prepared to stay off the floors (4 days), as well as trash that would be generated (it was my trash day, so the cans were out). I explained to
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
that all of my trash has to fit in the can provided by the city, that I cannot put extra bags on the

. He said it wouldn't be a problem, that he would remove all trash. Later that morning, he texted me a picture of one of the areas of concern all cleaned up and my response was "Awesome! I am so excited to see them done." I came home that night to several bags of trash on my porch.
On Thursday, he got a late start, but did let me know, which I appreciated. Thursday is when the problems really started,..

called to inform me that my walnut plugs were coming out of the floor when he "cut it," indicating 39 had already come loose but that he needed to cut the middles 2 more times. He worked on Friday and through the weekend, battling the plugs coming out, indicating that they were not properly installed. I was completely understanding and was not concerned about the extra time the job was taking, I just wanted it done right.
Unfortunately, I had to bother
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
on Sunday evening to ask if I could walk on the floors to get paperwork , which he suggested against.
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
left no indication as to when he would be back. I texted him Monday morning, 2/3/14 at 11:18am to see if he was planning on finishing that day and he indicated yes at 11:54am. At 11:57 am, I explained that I had the plumber coming the next day and since they were going to already be here that I was going to have some work done which would require them walking on the refinished floors. At 11:58 he responded "Ok will need a check today," to which I replied (12:01 pm) "what time and how checkbook is in the bedroom (which I couldn't get to on refinished floors). He texted me at 2:31 to say he was on his way and ask what time I would be there. I asked him how long he would be there as I was really unable to leave work at that time. He said 45 minutes. After some confusing text messages, I texted him the following:" I need a total amount and I need to know how long you will be there, or where I can deliver a check to. At this point I'll have to go to the bank to get the check. I didn't know you were coming to finish up and I didn't think to grab my checkbook this morning." His response was "How many feet?" to which I replied “I
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
’t have it right now, I thought you were going to confirm the square footage and shoe moulding” and he replied “I can when I get over there.” He texted again to say that he cannot get the pegs anywhere else and that he wanted to know when he could do the final coat as he would have to get more pegs before then. I suggested that I would gladly go get them as it was not that far from my work, however, I did tell him that I couldn’t make it before they closed on Monday, but would go the following morning. He apparently left at that point, leaving his heavy equipment in one of the bathrooms that I had told him was having work completed in.
On Tuesday morning I had to move his equipment so the plumber would have access. I went and got the plugs he needed and drove them back home before going in to work, assuming that he was going to finish the job. I texted him at 8:39 am indicating where to find them. He wasn’t able to come on Tuesday, but did come back on Wednesday to finish the job. I repeatedly ask him for a detailed invoice as there had been confusion and no real confirmation regarding the exact square footage and the additional cost for the plug replacement. He texted me on Wednesday afternoon with the following: “528 square feet grand total $1708” and “will send on (sp) invoice when I get home,” then followed up with “I will send invoice tonight if the check is there tomorrow I will come over to do the final coat around 4.” This is the timeframe where the EXTREME unprofessionalism occurred! My mom came home from work at about 3:30 and according to her,
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
threw a temper tantrum about a check not being there, not getting a deposit, etc. cursing and ultimately loading up his machinery and leaving. At 2:09 am, upon getting home from work, I texted
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
regarding his behavior and making the payment. At 6:45 am, he texted me back, continuing his verbal assault about the invoice, check, trash. I will gladly share the detail of this text message exchange if desired. Finally, after several texts back and forth it was agreed that
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
would come on Monday, 2/10/14 to finish the job. On Monday morning, I left a check for
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, but did remind him again that I wanted an invoice. He took the check, but left no invoice. Finally, 13 days later my floors were supposedly completed and most of the trash was removed (we had a snow/icestorm and some was buried). I did finally get an email with work performed, but not what I would call a detailed invoice on 2/12/14.
On 2/15/14, when I was actually able to get on the floors and inspect them, I emailed
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
that I was unhappy with the plugs, that they were above the floor, below the floor and unsanded. He called me within a half hour to discuss, was very explanatory about why they looked like that, but too technical for me… basically he indicated that he couldn’t do anything about them at which point I asked if I got on my hands and knees and sanded the ones above the floor would he come and recoat them? He did respond yes. After thinking more about it, I decided that 1) I shouldn’t have to try to fix his mess and 2) if I did try and further damaged the floors I would have no recourse. On 4/2/14, I emailed
Cincinnati Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
again about the plugs and ask for a written response. I haven’t heard from him since. I want my floors fixed properly or my money back so that I can hire someone else.

They did a great job. The floors for the most part were done very well. the only thing that I would be more careful of in the future is the care to detail that some of the workers took. They did a poor job in the repair to an area. At this same place they did not finish to the edges of the floors in a few areas.
