Client says Cincinnati gym offers subpar fitness gear

I enrolled at the Bally Total Fitness in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, for a three-year membership in January 2007. At the time, I had no idea I'd be moving [to Cincinnati] in 2008.

That club was just a mile from my home, and the membership included babysitting, exercise equipment, a weight room, spinning classes, yoga and aerobics.

When I moved, they told me my membership would move with me, as long as the club was within 25 miles of my home. I used the spinning classes at the Cleveland location, and they were generally good. The stationary bikes were pretty good there, too.

Unfortunately, the Blue Ash Bally Total Fitness in Cincinnati is farther away [from my home], they have terrible stationary bikes and they don't post spinning class schedules online like other Bally clubs do.

It certainly seems like a club on a downward spiral as far as membership, and it isn't clear that they're investing in any new equipment outside of the treadmills.

I just wish Bally would let me out of my agreement if they don't plan to upgrade the Blue Ash club. I attempted to contact the manager on two different occasions, but I didn't receive a return phone call.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want to terminate the membership agreement at two years instead of three.
