"I selected
after 2 other estimates. Their estimate was close to a second; the third was much higher for the same work. I also had a personal" reference from someone who had recently had his chimney rebuilt by
and was quite satisfied.
rebuilt and repainted my 1927 chimney and I am very pleased with the process and the outcome. The chimney has been transformed and looks wonderful. The crew was super and worked with efficiency and consistency the entire time. The deconstruction and the construction work were done with care and precision. The entire area was left clean and all materials were organized at the end of each workday. A special thanks to
who made the entire process go very smoothly. He is a fine communicator and answered any and all questions in the most professional and kind manner.

"We have 2 fireplaces that had not been serviced since we bought the house in 2009. We call
to have our chimneys swept and inspected in the" spring of 2014. They came within days to do the sweep and inspection. I can't fault them on the initial responsiveness and work. They swept and put some material in the leaking chimney. They also found that both crowns were rotting to the point they were crumbling off the top and one chimney had leaks in the chimney bricks. We pointed to our neighbor's crown and said that's what we want. Their crown looks very nice and must have a coating put onto of the mortar/concrete crown.
schedule to return within the week to do the crown as it couldn't rain for a day after install. They came back, built some forms of 2x4s, poured the concrete and left. There were white chalked streaks down our chimney and we asked to get those cleaned up too. The
person said they would wash off by themselves over time once the caps were replaced and leakage of the rotting concrete stopped. Then it took many calls and about 2-3 months before they came back to remove the forms. They were hard to get a hold of and we didn't think much of it as other than looking like hillbillys with 2x4s on our chimneys it was spring and we weren't using the fireplaces anyway. They then came back when we weren't home and removed the forms. I didn't think much of it other than the stains down the side of the chimney were there. A couple of months passed and I looked at the chimney one day and realized the streaks weren't gone. Then I started really looking at the quality of work on the crown. Each crown was a different thickness, had paper or something that was part of the 2x4 stuck in it, there was concrete stuck to the bricks below the crown, and the mortar/concrete itself had bubbles and bad edges. We also noticed they had painted the trim caulking around the chimneys white when the rest of our trim is a reddish brick color. It made me pull out the ladder and climb onto the roof to really look at the quality. I didn't call
after that as what are they going to do? It's my fault for not demanding a specification for the work like "my crown will look like my neighbor's crown" and "don't use white paint on our caulking". The crown seems to work but it's really ugly and frankly I could have climbed on the roof, made a hillbilly 2x4 frame, and poured my own concrete. I went to youtube to see how professionals fix chimney crown and the really good ones, including many other companies in Cincinnati, use an adjustable metal frame. I have no idea in general if
does other things well but I would not recommend them to anybody to replace crowns. I can't tell if they did a good chimney sweep or did a good repair in our chimney but I have no reason to suspect the quality of that work. I am only writing this report on their chimney crown work as it bothers me every time I look up and see the incredibly low quality of work sitting on the top of my chimneys that will be there forever now. Luckily, I've never had anyone comment on our chimneys as people, other than us, ever look at them.

5 Questions to Ask Your Chimney Sweep

One highly rated provider shares five important questions to ask about your chimney sweep professional before hiring them to complete the job.

The Angie's List Guide to Winter Maintenance

It's the time of year when the winter weather can take a toll. Follow this winter maintenance checklist to protect your home, your car and your health.

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

Thirty seconds is the length of most television commercials. It’s also the length of time it takes for a fire to get out of control in your home.

Chimney Sweeping reviews in Cincinnati

It went very well. The technician was very professional and thorough. The site was left clean as a pin. Some maintenance recommendations were made and put in writing with a quote.
- Douglas P.

They came by and inspected my home's exterior, and left a paper on my front porch without a quote (to repair siding and roof damage) - the note said they would be getting back to me next week with a quote. Anyway, long story short, no one ever got back to me, I called the company three times, explaining that we needed a quote before moving forward and each time they told me a rep would call me back. No one did. Crazy! They were completely indifferent, so I went with another company.
- Alex B.

They did a great job of working in the replacement during the winter months as my old ones were in very bad shape. They also repaired my chimney. My only complaint it that the installers left without turning on my solar blinds. That was corrected promptly. All in all I cannot say enough about the care that the

folks took to do the replacements as soon as weather permitted and the care they took of my house.
- Susan C.

He does a great job. He initially inspected and cleaned the chimney when we first moved into the house. We don't have fires too often, so he calls me only every three or four years to schedule the cleaning. He is friendly and neat, keeping the work area very clean. My fireplace is now clean and ready for next winter.

was the service man who came out. He was punctual and friendly. The job was done quickly and thoroughly. And when he left the fireplace was very clean as was the surrounding area in our home. Couldn't ask for a better experience. I would recommend this company to all my friends.

They were excellent in every way. We had looked around for a while to pick the right craftsman. They have always had a great reputation in Cincinnati and now I know why. I would recommend them to anyone. We have been having problems with our fireplace drawing and they offered a lower cost fix then anyone else we had talked to.
- Peter M.

They arrived exactly on time, they kept the property clean while they worked, and they got along well with my tenants. Furthermore, their verbal report on the state of the chimney was in line with the assessment of another chimney company which I found reassuring. The only issue is that I haven't received a written report or any photos as promised in the deal. This information may have been sent to the rental property, but my tenants haven't received anything as of today.
- Deborah G.

See above. We were always invited to ask more questions and to call which we did. The communication was prompt, and we always knew what was going on. The pictures taken of our chimney were clear and showed that there was a problem which needed to be dealt with.

We started out with a chimney cleaning, of which we also got before and after pictures.
- Dorothea E.
