"Since this is a house I don't yet own
had to work with multiple parties to schedule his appointment. The scheduling was flawless and"
cleaned and inspected the chimney. The day the service was provided he dropped of the inspection report at my place of business. I was not there so
called me the next day to go over the report and make certain I understood what he had observed. He is quite knowledgeable about his craft and very professional. He took plenty of time and made certain I understood the condition of the fireplace chimney and suggested future potential fixes and repairs. I would definitely recommend
to friends and neighbors and plan to use them for my future cleanings.

-Kathy S.

came out to the house on several occasions to complete a full chimney inspection and did a chimney sweep and cleared a clog due to collapsed" bricks. My experience with
was fantastic. I have been thru 5 companies trying to get a chimney leak repaired. It was becoming a comedy of contractor errors. The results we got from the previous contractors were: paid one contractor for repair but work was done incorrectly and still leaked, another called me minutes before our appointment to say he didn't want the work because the house is too tall, another came and inspected but never called back with a quote, another wanted to seal lower bricks but wasnt equipped to fix the chimney leak from the roof, yet another missed 3 separate appointments. This was a mix of the big corporation roofing/chimney companies and the small time chimney repair guys.
was by far the most professional. They showed up every time, on time. Their communication with the client is far better than any other contractor that we've worked with. They were thorough with the inspection which was complicated by a caved in brick liner. Since I didnt give them a green light to do any work at any cost they stopped and discussed what they were finding along the way and gave me options and recommendations. They discussed ways I could save money yet still accomplish the goal of having a functional vent for the furnace and prevent future leaks. I found them to be very upfront and honest. They put it the hard work to find the root of my chimney issues where other companies had just walked away. I was pleasantly surprised by their reasonable prices. In addition to the chimney sweep and clean out i have scheduled them to do the more intensive repairs and waterproofing. I will certainly call
first from now on for all of my roof and chimney needs.

The Angie's List Guide to Winter Maintenance

It's the time of year when the winter weather can take a toll. Follow this winter maintenance checklist to protect your home, your car and your health.

gas fireplace with fire burning

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

Chimney Sweeping reviews in Cincinnati

I selected
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
after 2 other estimates. Their estimate was close to a second; the third was much higher for the same work. I also had a personal reference from someone who had recently had his chimney rebuilt by
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
and was quite satisfied.
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
rebuilt and repainted my 1927 chimney and I am very pleased with the process and the outcome. The chimney has been transformed and looks wonderful.
The crew was super and worked with efficiency and consistency the entire time. The deconstruction and the construction work were done with care and precision. The entire area was left clean and all materials were organized at the end of each workday.
A special thanks to
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
who made the entire process go very smoothly. He is a fine communicator and answered any and all questions in the most professional and kind manner.

We have 2 fireplaces that had not been serviced since we bought the house in 2009. We call
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
to have our chimneys swept and inspected in the spring of 2014. They came within days to do the sweep and inspection. I can't fault them on the initial responsiveness and work. They swept and put some material in the leaking chimney.
They also found that both crowns were rotting to the point they were crumbling off the top and one chimney had leaks in the chimney bricks. We pointed to our neighbor's crown and said that's what we want. Their crown looks very nice and must have a coating put onto of the mortar/concrete crown.
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
schedule to return within the week to do the crown as it couldn't rain for a day after install. They came back, built some forms of 2x4s, poured the concrete and left. There were white chalked streaks down our chimney and we asked to get those cleaned up too. The
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
person said they would wash off by themselves over time once the caps were replaced and leakage of the rotting concrete stopped.
Then it took many calls and about 2-3 months before they came back to remove the forms. They were hard to get a hold of and we didn't think much of it as other than looking like hillbillys with 2x4s on our chimneys it was spring and we weren't using the fireplaces anyway.
They then came back when we weren't home and removed the forms. I didn't think much of it other than the stains down the side of the chimney were there. A couple of months passed and I looked at the chimney one day and realized the streaks weren't gone. Then I started really looking at the quality of work on the crown. Each crown was a different thickness, had paper or something that was part of the 2x4 stuck in it, there was concrete stuck to the bricks below the crown, and the mortar/concrete itself had bubbles and bad edges. We also noticed they had painted the trim caulking around the chimneys white when the rest of our trim is a reddish brick color. It made me pull out the ladder and climb onto the roof to really look at the quality.
I didn't call
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
after that as what are they going to do? It's my fault for not demanding a specification for the work like "my crown will look like my neighbor's crown" and "don't use white paint on our caulking". The crown seems to work but it's really ugly and frankly I could have climbed on the roof, made a hillbilly 2x4 frame, and poured my own concrete. I went to youtube to see how professionals fix chimney crown and the really good ones, including many other companies in Cincinnati, use an adjustable metal frame.
I have no idea in general if
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
does other things well but I would not recommend them to anybody to replace crowns. I can't tell if they did a good chimney sweep or did a good repair in our chimney but I have no reason to suspect the quality of that work. I am only writing this report on their chimney crown work as it bothers me every time I look up and see the incredibly low quality of work sitting on the top of my chimneys that will be there forever now. Luckily, I've never had anyone comment on our chimneys as people, other than us, ever look at them.

It went very well. The technician was very professional and thorough. The site was left clean as a pin. Some maintenance recommendations were made and put in writing with a quote.
- Douglas P.

They came by and inspected my home's exterior, and left a paper on my front porch without a quote (to repair siding and roof damage) - the note said they would be getting back to me next week with a quote. Anyway, long story short, no one ever got back to me, I called the company three times, explaining that we needed a quote before moving forward and each time they told me a rep would call me back. No one did. Crazy! They were completely indifferent, so I went with another company.
- Alex B.

They did a great job of working in the replacement during the winter months as my old ones were in very bad shape. They also repaired my chimney. My only complaint it that the installers left without turning on my solar blinds. That was corrected promptly. All in all I cannot say enough about the care that the
Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
folks took to do the replacements as soon as weather permitted and the care they took of my house.
- Susan C.

He does a great job. He initially inspected and cleaned the chimney when we first moved into the house. We don't have fires too often, so he calls me only every three or four years to schedule the cleaning. He is friendly and neat, keeping the work area very clean. My fireplace is now clean and ready for next winter.

Cincinnati Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
was the service man who came out. He was punctual and friendly. The job was done quickly and thoroughly. And when he left the fireplace was very clean as was the surrounding area in our home. Couldn't ask for a better experience. I would recommend this company to all my friends.

They were excellent in every way. We had looked around for a while to pick the right craftsman. They have always had a great reputation in Cincinnati and now I know why. I would recommend them to anyone. We have been having problems with our fireplace drawing and they offered a lower cost fix then anyone else we had talked to.
