"Went very well. Always on time. Owner came first day and explained and showed them what to do. They were very communicative and patiently answered all our questions." They clean up after themselves. Very hard working. One night they stay until after dark and it was raining and they kept working. It has been three months now and the basement is all dry.

"We had water seeping into our finished basement along the front wall of our house.
promptly came out to assess the issue. He estimated the" size of the crack in the foundation, explained the process to us (which involved digging down to the crack along the front wall of our house), and gave us an estimate shortly thereafter. In addition to having them patch the crack, we also opted to have them install a French drain. We were told that the work would be completed in 45-60 days from when we signed the contract, but they were able to fit us in sooner than that - a little over a month. The workers arrived on time, and the work was completed in a day. The landscaping that had to be disrupted in the digging process was re-planted by them before they left. So far, we haven't had any more issues with water in our basement.

Contractors say homeowners with this trait are the most satisfied with home improvement projects.

The damage done by neglecting a crawl space is likely affecting you more than the eye can see, says Vallone. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Nancy T. of Seattle)
Basement Waterproofing

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!
?

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

They arrived on time and started working on
hanging the gutters first. I was working and came out about an hour later to
see they had put white gutters up. My house is yellow brick with cream trim and
had cream colored gutters. I told them that I had picked out cream colors
for the gutters, not white. They said the contract says white. I brought the
contract out and seen that

did not

a color for the gutters. They
called

and he tried to say we did not discuss colors. I told him we did
and he even fanned the color swatch against the door trim and I choose the
cream because it matched the trim.
So they had to take down the white
gutters and go pick up the cream color gutters. When they were gone I walked
outside and saw that there was leaves and debris hanging all over where they
just took the gutters down. I took a broom the sweep off the leaves and
saw that the wood completely rotted and just fell apart when I brushed the
broom across it. When they came back I asked why they had installed the gutters
on rotten broads. They said they don't replace fascia board. I asked them
to at least replace the corner where it just fell apart because the gutters were
not going to stay up if the board are all rotted underneath. I had some wood
they could use to replace the corner.
They came back the next day to do the
trenching. They ended the pipe in the center of my back yard in front of a play
set. I said that

had said it would go across the back yard and hook into
the pipe on the right side of house and run to back of the property so my yard would
not get flooded. We have specifically discussed getting the water away from the
playset and running to back of property.
They said that the contract is only for 80 feet so if I wanted it to the back of the property I would have to pay an additional
$480.
Cincinnati Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was not available that day and his son
in-law said that I had to pay the additional money or it ended in the middle of
my yard. So I was forced to pay the additional $480 to do the job I was
told by

would be done for the original price on the contract. Then
the concrete that they poured in the drive way were they had to

over it and it was still wet and made a

We knew we had a crack that was allowing a little water to seep in at times, but it wasn't until we were really slammed with rain that we realized how bad it had gotten.
Cincinnati Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out and asked us questions, did a thorough analysis inside and outside, and then gave us a couple options. The representative was very thorough in his analysis and explanations. We decided to have the problem tackled from the outside and it was a pretty major job that included digging, sealing, and regarding. On the day of service they arrived on time, worked all day, and cleaned up nicely. They leveled out the lawn, planted grass seed and put hay down. I
I wanted to wait awhile before submitting a review because I wanted to be sure the fix was actually working! And we have had enough rain now that I am confident the job was well done.

Our basement used to leak every time it rained until we have it waterproofed. We live in an area with a high water table and drainage used to be terrible. About a year after the installation, we had some slight leaking down our basement walls. We called
Cincinnati Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and they came out immediately to assess and repair. We haven't had a problem since. (C.L.

The gentleman who came out to review the situation was professional, knowledgeable and timely. He provided the estimate and explained what would occur. The team that came to do the work were friendly and professional. They took care to keep the areas traveled in the house protected and work area was also kept restricted from the rest of the basement. They finished the job in a timely manor and left the area as neat as when they arrived. Unfortunately, a minor leak occurred in one of the areas repaired and I had to call them back. True to their word they came back within a couple of days, repaired the minor issue and as promised no additional charges were made. As this was my first experience with a basement leak I appreciated not only the professional and timely manor but the honest way in which they dealt with me. I would use them again and recommend them.

We had an extended power outage and the sump pump basin came close to filling but the battery backup pump did not kick in so we purchased a package for a sump pump and battery backup checkup ($49 on Angie's List site). When they arrived and assessed the current equipment they found that the equipment was past its prime and recommended replacing both primary and secondary sump pumps - which we did. We were happy with the work and felt the price for replacing both pumps was very reasonable.

After shopping around, we chose Basement Doctor. On the first visit, they checked out our crawl space and gave an estimate which we accepted. On the next visit, they sealed the crawl space. We are very pleased with the work. The crawl space is dry and the house is free of the musky odor that used to occur after precipitation.

Ever Dry Waterproofing came highly recommended to us by a friend who’d hired them the previous summer to waterproof her basement. They proved to be everything she’d said: they were reliable, trustworthy, and professional at all times. We had the
complete indoor and outdoor waterproofing system installed, and the job was implemented exactly as discussed. The men worked four consecutive days, not working on or starting another job until ours was finished. We felt that our job had their complete attention and focus. Their work met, if not surpassed our expectations, and we would not hesitate even a second to recommend Ever Dry to anyone who needs basement waterproofing. I would like to add that I was surprised AND delighted at how VERY little damage was done to my plants surrounding the perimeter of my house; only a minimal amount of ground cover was lost. More importantly, we have not had a single drop of water in our basement since the waterproofing system was installed, and we have had some fairly substantial rains during those ten months. What a relief! It's one of the BEST things we ever did to our house, and my only regret is that we didn't have Ever Dry do this years sooner.

Everydry did an excellent job with our waterproofing. Waterproofing is pricey, but it was worth every penny. Our basment was leaking before the waterproofing. We had it waterproofed 12 years ago and not one drop of water inside since. We recently moved out of the house and are now using it as a rental property and it gives us peace of mind that the basement isn't going to leak. We love that their is a lifetime waranty.
