Painter's murals brighten communities

As owner of highly rated MissElaineous Studio in Glendale, Ohio, Laine Discepoli is used to creating beautiful artwork and says she's always redecorating spaces in her mind. "People stare at blank walls for years and never think about it," she says. "But if something can be prettier, more charming and fresher, I can't help but see it that way."

Helping hands: Service companies go above and beyond

Discepoli uses her talent to give back in a variety of ways, least of which is designing murals for a variety of non-profit organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati. Executive director Jennifer Goodwin says Discepoli created "Joshua's Windows" to honor Josh Helfrich, a 10-year-old boy who passed away after a bicycle accident.

"We knew she would be the perfect artist to head up this touching memorial," Goodwin says. "Our guest families love the mural, and we are honored that our Ronald McDonald House was chosen to host this beautiful tribute to a young boy who was so loved by his family."

Other recipients of Discepoli's work include Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minn., and Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans.

"I've really learned to value and respect the imprint we make on our community and world," Discepoli says. "I consider it a necessity to make it a better place. Since I have artistic skills and enjoy painting, I contribute in that manner. There's always some way to give back or pay it forward!"
