When they got behind schedule because of all the rain days, they doubled their crew to get the job wrapped up, which was helpful as it is loud work and disturbed the kids' naps on occasion.  Overall, I am so happy we went with IHI. We had also had Fortune Restoration quote us the job. FR provided a quote on the spot and did not go on the roof. They also had suggested we do a much larger scope even though what they were suggesting to be tuckpointed had been done just a few years earlier and so the cost was significantly higher. This made me wonder how much thought was really put into the quote, although they probably would have done a fine job as well. "

"One on the window cracked last winter and he came out and replaced it. His concrete work was good, and it looked great but the concrete is already flaking at the edges. It’s a little disappointing; it seems like the quality of concrete wasn’t the best. He did come back last year to fill in a spot I had a problem ...more with. "We were looking for restoration of the upper part of the front side of our house. We needed to have everything basically torn off and rebuilt above the second-story window. They did the work. We were pretty disappointed with their work. They specialize in restoration of original brick work. They made promises to replicate a certain set of masonry ...more joints, but they didn't actually deliver. They ended up replacing things that was not necessary. They dropped large pieces of masonry and broke them. We ended up having to replace those. We even had numerous problems with the management of the crew."

"They did a decent job on the sealing and caulking, but we noticed that the concrete outside our bedroom window was chipped after they removed their ladder. It wasn't a giant chip, but it was big enough to be noticeable - about 3-4 inches. It took many phone calls to get them to speak with us about the chip, and they repeatedly denied that it was their ...more fault. However, I'm pretty observant and the chip had not existed before they placed their ladder against the window (exactly at the location of the chip!). After much argument they ultimately repaired the chip - it took them about 5 minutes!  So, while I think the sealing and caulking went reasonably well, if they damage your property, expect a major argument."

"I was the buyer of a property in late 2009. This company was hired by the sellers to verify the integrity of a parapet wall on the home because moisture entry was found during my inspection on tops of  windows below the parapet wall. His opinion stated that the "three-inch limestone coping, and sealing adequately prevents ...more water entry into the wall." Only one year later, as soon as it thawed, we have had moisture entry problems on the same windows (dripping of water inside). we've had a moisture intrusion specialist and 3 contractors agree that the water is entering through the parapet wall. ) that this company said was adequate has failed after one year. The mortar around the capstone has failed. Now I will incur the expense for repair to have the wall properly fixed, including the capstones removed and replaced with flashing and an aluminum cover, which should have been done during my attorney review and paid for by the sellers. I don't doubt that this happens often in real estate transactions, where a company is "persuaded" by a buyer or seller to report a little left of the truth. Now thanks to online services like Angie's List, I hope some of this can be uncovered."
