Chicago Glass Blocks Reviews

"Overall, I would say I am very happy with
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
. Their work is solid, and they were enjoyable to talk to and relatively
responsive. I think the value of the work was definitely worth what was paid
for the entire job. I would hire them again to work on any masonry issue.
There were some slight hiccups in the process. First, it was a difficult timing
of the project because we were also concurrently getting the flat asphalt roof
replaced on the home.
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
wanted to get in first and do all the
parapet walls prior to the roofers coming in and tearing off the roof. This
caused some delays and setbacks - some due to spotty weather as well. It did
seem like the masonry work started off a little slower pace than was expected
based on the initial timeline.
There were a few days when the foreman didn't show up at the same time (early)
as the other workers, so there was some waiting around for leadership or the
ability for me to ask questions of the foreman.
The original plan was to have both chimneys torn down and re-built to the
original height. I had that specified in the bid, because it appeared the chimney
for my boiler had been added onto, and I wanted to ensure that the full height
was maintained to keep the right draft. Once the project was being worked on -
they decided to not re-build the chimney that was no longer in use. That
decision was made basically by them - and I was informed of it. The working chimney
was completed and then a day or two later I was noticing fumes in the basement. I went up to the
roof, and it turned out that they had not built the chimney to the same height
as it previously was. They had built it to the height in which they figured
would be the right height based on commonly used height calculations. Unfortunately
- that’s not what we needed or agreed to. There was some back and forth, and I
showed pictures/measurements from the old chimney. They did agree that an
additional 8-10 courses of bricks needed to be added. They performed the work
and the chimney works now. I'm glad I had the old pictures to go back to in
order to prove that the height was not correct.
All in all - a good job was done. The chimney situation was the most
frustrating, however as I mentioned, they did end up rebuilding it to the
height in the quote. The other chimney didn't get rebuilt, however they did end
up doing a fair amount of extra work on the parapet walls beyond what was in
the original quote. I ended up paying additional money on top of the quote,
however I feel the amount of work performed was worth it.

"Installer called on the day of the job, told me he was going to be three hours late because he had to finish a job he could not finish the day before, due to heavy rain. It was still raining, so we mutually agreed to postpone the job until the next week. On the following Monday,
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
and his helper
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
arrived on time and went straight to work. Within three or four hours, they removed the old windows and installed all four new glass block windows. Two surprises: 1. they keep the old wood frame of the old windows, though I thought they should come out.
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
strongly recommended we keep them and I'm glad we did. It looks much more finished on the inside. 2. One of the basement windows has two dryer vents in it. They left new sleeves for my two dryer hoses but they said they cannot hook them up the same day. I was told it would be
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
to slide the vent onto the sleeves. Well, the next day I tried, but without duct tape and some perseverance, they would not be hooked up. I wish I had known they were not going to reconnect the vents when the new windows went in. But that's it: overall, very quick and professional, friendly, and timely.
"It could not have been better! Great service, called ahead as promised, the repair job was excellent, and the clean up was perfect. They communicated everything extremely well, from estimate to source of problem. I would definitely use them again!
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
and his team do excellent work and do the work right the first time. Our communication at first was a bit sketchy (but I think it's because I'm more of an email guy and he's more of a phone guy), but we were able to work it out and it was completely worth it. If there was only one thing I could say about
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
and his crew is that they know their stuff (any type of masonry), they'll do it right and get it done right the first time. I could not recommend them more."
"KH Renovations were professional on every level - from office/support staff to project managers to on sight crew. They offered suggestions, guidance, and were very flexible and accommodating throughout our long project. We have already referred them to friends and will continue to do so. Thanks guys!"
"Contacted local company based on solid reputation & favourable Angie's List reviews. Owner,

Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
to decision to tackle additional projects (stairway & kitchen). Will use again in future & would recommend."
"We started renovating our 3 flat but did not want to give the entire project to a general contractor, as we wanted to maintain control over hiring of various subcontractors, selection of finishes and key materials, and overseeing day-to-day progress and quality. But we also needed someone to help push the project forward, coordinate activities, and advise us on an ongoing basis. Tomasz, the owner of
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
and Remodeling, became that person. The specific work he and his crew performed (see the long list under Work Description) was of excellent quality. Tomasz himself did all the carpentry and tile work. He is very exacting , thinks through the details and implications, presents options and looks for creative yet practical solutions when issues arise. We are very happy with the results of his and his team’s work. We’re also happy that we could bounce ideas off of him—he has great experience as well as good taste. Tomasz also hired the floor restoration/refinishing crew for our original maple floors; they were also very competent and attentive to detail—these guys know floors. He also recommended some other professionals and businesses that were relatively inexpensive and worked out well for us (kitchen cabinets reseller, garbage disposal, etc.). Overall, we got great service and terrific value from our experience with
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
. Short of a few loose ends, we’re done! Tomasz was central to our ability to complete this within our budget yet with high quality. We won’t hesitate to hire him again.
"Bill Hardy called in response to my email though Angies List the next morning. He told us he would be by the next day to give us an estimate. He came after phoning in the pouring rain and measured the window and gave us a price. He emailed a written proposal later that same day. The next morning we scheduled installation for the following Tuesday,(yesterday). Unfortunately , it was raining again, but, Bill was on the ball and immediately rescheduled due to weather conditions. Today the rain stopped and Bill phoned and asked if it were okay to come by and put the window in. His installer
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
came by and put the window in. He did a great job and I am so happy I had it done. I like the privacy and security feature of glass block. This is a well run company and evidently they make customer service and satisfaction their top priority.
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
and his workers did a fabulous job. They started on time every day, cleaned up before they left in the evening, finished on time and were delightful to work with. I would very highly recommend the services of Design Inventions."
"I needed custom size windows, and I chose
Chicago Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
because they were local, made the windows right on their premises, and the estimate seemed fair to me. The owner of the company was very nice (and really funny), and he and his helpers came right on time on one of the hottest days of the year to do the install. It was completed very quickly including a thorough clean-up, and I couldn't be happier with my new windows! It's wonderful to have all the light of a regular window and great air circulation, but with zero security worries."
