Garbage Collecting Reviews in Chicago

It went well.
kept in touch with me up until they arrived at the location. They worked pretty fast in removing the junk way. Hated that it was a limit on how much they could take away, though. If they weren't so far away, I would use them again.

I was hoping to call and have the stuff removed on the same day, owing to my schedule. Spoke with
, who was courteous and professional on the phone. I described my location, and he asked if another day would be okay. I admitted that I was hoping to have it done the same day, but if I didn't find anyone else I felt okay with for that same day, I would call him. He asked about the stuff he'd be carrying, I described it, and he said he would "make it work." He advised me of his present workload for the day, and gave me an approximate time. He arrived on time, I directed him and his assistant to the things to be removed, he gave me a price, I accepted, and they were in and out in about ten minutes.

The actual service is fine, not remarkable but satisfactory. The problem is that this is one nasty company, and they will (try to) never let you out of your contact no matter what you do. We used them for a few years then, after our contract expired, we wanted to switch to a cheaper vendor. They threatened to

us citing the fine print "auto-renewal" clause. We therefore signed a two year renewal crossing out and initialing these clauses. In addition and to be safe (knowing who we are dealing with), we observed the provision in the contract allowing us to cancel at the end with 90 days certified notice. They refused delivery of the certified letter. Our new garbage company sent them a certified letter and they refused that too. Now, they are unwilling to recognize the signed contract without the auto-renewal saying "they never initialled them". We have received a certified letter from them threatening $20,000 in damages. Calls to the office are met with indifference. Avoid this company like the plague!

They started out fabulous..... This past winter we had a bad winter... January and February in particular, they didn't even bother to pick up our garbage bins for about 3 weeks total. They claimed the bin was frozen in ice but I cleaned the bin area, moved it myself, took pictures and emailed them to rebuff their false claim. Lakeshore didn't even grab the top layers off if the bin they claim was immovable. Their other excuse was their regular driver (who is great) was on vacation... So, you give bad service and continue to charge?
I understand the winter was brutal however if you are going to skip whole weeks, you need to contact your customers and notify them. Email is a very cheap way to communicate to your customer base. Most people like myself would understand, being totally ignored is not acceptable. Communication is horrible... You don't know why you garbage is not being picked up unless you, yourself call and find out why... Are they hoping you don't notice the full bin ?
To make matters worse, the female help they have or had there... bark at you as if the problem was your doing and not theirs! ...Bad attitudes!... I talked to Rich, who was in a higher position, he was so empathetic and accommodating he wanted to make amends. He told me to follow up about a monetary credit on my bill but when I call Rich back several times... I get voice mail and have not seen one credit. .............. Great customer service guys!....It's now April 30th and no credit and no returned calls....
I'll tell you... if your bill is late they charge you a fee, but when the customer does not get picked up.... you no credit at this company.
These waste companies need to be regulated and supervised by the city..... It is a crime that business people can get taken advantage of by commercial refuge haulers in Chicago.

, our salesperson, is not only friendly, but when there was an issue with our pickup times and dates, he dropped everything and took time out of his day to personally come to our location He immediately addressed our concerns, which were an obvious lack of communication by all parties.
This is exactly the level of customer service people want from vendors, and as an organization benefiting pediatric cancer patients, every penny is precious to us. They made a generous adjustment to our bill, and we will continue to use their service.

We had a death in the family and went to look over the house. We found out that our uncle had been hoarding newspspers, clothes, furniture and refuse. This was an embarrassing situation and we were unsure how to handle it. we called a couple of larger companies and felt that they were unsympathetic and looking to take advantage of our situation. We called

and his crew of seven helpers showed up a bit early for their 10am Sunday appointment. We had tagged with blue tape the few things that were to stay and explained this to them on the walk through. Caveat: For special instructions, you will need to be sure that all the workers hear you speak those instructions yourself. The blue tag system smoothed things along, but it was not required or suggested by

. There was some broken glass, stinky bags of old garbage, rotten furniture, and unfortunately a few roaches. While I cannot say the workers were happy about dealing with this, they worked quickly, professionally, and without complaint. The job took a bit over 2 hours. Initially I thought the price was a bit high (20 cu yards 1250.00 flat rate, quoted in advance) but as the job concluded I came to think that the price was a fair one. And

don't SIGN THE CONTRACT WITHOUT TERMINATION CLAUSE. In fact, don't sign it at all, they'll provide service anyway.
They've been doing a bad job lately so I went to cancel service and hire someone else who would provide more for less money. When I called to cancel they simply said 'we just don't do that'. The kicker is that since there is no cancellation clause then we are stuck with them for 5 years.

After a scheduling mishap, the serviceman arrived on time and did exactly as we discussed on the phone. My interpretation of the original ad was that someone would actually be there to help with the basement cleanout, not just to haul away junk. This was not the case but I got complete clarification on that over the phone before the appointment. The representative was on time, very helpful and thorough and friendly, and we were very satisfied with the service and the price.
