"An all around good experience. We had gotten a number of quotes on re-stuffing our couch.
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
was the most reasonable. Unlike most couches where you can re-stuff the cushions, this couch required a complete disassembly and reconstruction.
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
appeared when he said he would and assessed the situation for free (others would charge up to $100.00 to come to assess the job).
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
took the couch to his workshop, completed the job ahead of schedule, and took pictures of the various stages in the rebuild process that he showed to me upon delivery of the couch. I was very impressed by his attentiveness, professionalism, quality of work and his promptness.

"I purchased a $99.00 coupon from Angie's List for $200.00 worth of services from
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
. I took the cradle in for repair the end of May and received the repaired cradle in late August! Three months! I will say the workmanship is fantastic but when I e-mailed them I would not get an answer and once when I called I'm sure they were trying to find my order--because they finally put me on hold before someone came on the line to explain they needed a special
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
for the repair and it would be in "next Wednesday"
Finally I received the piece and the workmanship was great. I feel this work was considered a small job and kind of got lost with all the other pieces that were there.

"Great. They came and picked up the pieces and returned them. The repairs looked great. The table was an unusual vintage piece (converted from coffee table to dining table) and a crucial piece of some sort of leather or cloth holding two halves together had ripped. We had no idea if it would even be fixable, but
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
was unfazed. It turned out great, as did the wooden lounge chair. We had another wooden dining chair repaired by them about 3 years ago with similarly stellar results. (All the other companies I had gotten estimates from at that time were several times higher, and it was very difficult to convince them to come out to check out what I needed repaired.)
I will absolutely use them again. They are a very small, informal operation (a guy and his dad), so don't expect a flashy website (or even email.) But they do a great job quickly.

"If you visit the store there are also numerous pieces which were created by

that include hand crafted wooden furniture. This is obviously a place to go when you want someone who is a few notches above the others.

"From my first phone conversation with
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
, I made up my mind to use him to do the work. He approaches the job from the standpoint of "artist" rather than just a job. I knew my furniture was in good hands. Plus he was happy to included pick up and delivery services as a given. The job did take a bit longer than
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
originally hoped, principally because we agreed to a later delivery date, but frankly I think the services of an individual craftsman were worth the additional time. I cannot recommend
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
highly enough.

"At the time we contracted for the work,
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
was moving. They needed a little more time because of the move which was fine with us. Once the chest had been picked up, we went to their establishment and discussed what was possible in the restoration process and what wasn't. They called us a few times as the restoration was taking place to make changes or recommendations to agreed upon steps. We appreciated their recommendations and the end result benefited from our willingness to adjust and their expertise."

"My experience with
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
, the owner of Furniture N Design Group (formerly Ambiance Gallery), went badly from the second time I met with her. I thought the initial bad experience was just a small one-time situation. But everything went from bad to worse. This has cost me thousands of dollars. If you meet this woman, walk the other way. She will deceive you and provide poor quality merchandise. I was too trusting. I handed off my Baker dining room chairs to her for reupholstering to be returned within a specific time frame. The upholsterer she used was terrible (more about him later). Three of the chairs had to go back and with one of the chairs having a broken leg. One was not returned to me on time, even though she said she would bring it right back. I was then forced to borrow folding chairs for our holiday meal. All three chairs were fixed but the repaired broken leg looks awful. It was glued poorly -- I could have glued it better than the repairer did. She said it looks fine, and further stated that it doesn’t bother her. She didn’t care if it bothers me that my expensive chair was broken and poorly repaired. I ordered a chair and ottoman from her. I actually gave her a picture of what I wanted – a small swivel chair for our bedroom. The picture was from a manufacturer she does not handle but she assured me that it would be exactly as shown with the same dimensions as the piece I wanted. It arrived in awful condition.

’s “white glove service” seems to not include pressing fabric. The skirt of the chair and ottoman were a mess, no care had been taken to press them. The upholstery has

on it where the upholsterer indicated sewing lines (they had not been removed).
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
said, “it looks fine, it doesn’t bother me”. She made no attempt to rectify the matter. It also is not a swivel chair but a 4 leg static chair. In fact, it is too large to have a swivel. It is 10” deeper than the one I wanted (my feet
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
’t even come close to touching the ground when I sit in it) and 8” wider. Plus, it doesn’t look like the chair in the picture that I presented to her. She stated that it is a custom piece and can’t be returned … even though it is not the piece I ordered. She did give me a small refund. The chair and ottoman cost me $2,425.00 and I
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
’t like the chair AT ALL. We live in a small condo and the chair is over-sized and over-stuffed. The only good thing about it is the fabric, which
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
did not select. I also ordered a sleeper sofa for our very small second bedroom. Anyone looking at this condo would know that a small piece of furniture is what it needs. My #1 criteria was that the sleeper be extremely comfortable for our guests. The sleeper
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
delivered has a very thin coil mattress that is anything but comfortable (the coils are prominent). It is so bad that we bought an Aerobed that we are now using in that room for our guests rather than have them suffer on that bed.
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
’s response was, “buy one of those very plush mattress covers for it”. Later she said, “you can buy a new mattress for it”. You can picture what the sleeper looks like. It would fit beautifully in a huge family room. It’s overstuffed with large cushions. When confronted with the size of the piece
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
took the two seat cushions to her upholsterer and had them reduced in size. They came back misshapen. But she thinks they look fine. I paid $2,750.00 for this sleeper and we can’t even sleep on it. There is a piece that looked very nice, when it arrived. It is a 2 cushion, 6 leg sofa in our living room. We have spent time in the condo for about 70 days since the sofa was delivered and the cushions are already beginning to look bad – even though I try to fluff them and make them look good. The middle legs on the sofa do not touch the floor. They are ½” shorter than the legs on the ends of the sofa. This is on a $2,472.00 sofa! It is my opinion that the furniture manufacturer used for these pieces produces goods that are low in quality. Even the queen bed we ordered from her has bare wooden boards used as supports in the center rather than a finished framing. The bottom line is that
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
doesn’t listen. If you tell her something she will sweetly agree to acquire the pieces you want. She then does as she pleases (or, I believe, orders what she can get that will pay her the most). Her attempts at “white glove service” are pitiful. And her follow up is more of a cover up and a blame game. I
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
’t believe she is a designer, she doesn’t know what she is doing. She will even blame you! Her solution to my problems? She gave me the name of a resale shop and told me I could send my things there for resale if I
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
’t like them. I had already been in touch with this shop at the time she gave me the name, she provided no new information. My expensive furniture will be sold for less than half of what I paid for it and I will then receive 60% of the proceeds – IF the furniture sells. That is quite a solution. She simply wiped her hands of it. Please do yourself a favor and look for someone that you can trust and will deliver on what they tell you they are going to do -
Chicago Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
is not that person. We terminated communication on 10/30/2011.
