"100% satisfied! Our first job as listed cost exactly $4510 and was well worth it. But I consider and his crew at Progress Remodeling to be my one and only general contractor since recently moving to Chicago in 2010. I've rehired him over 10 times in the past 1 year+ to do both big and small jobs rehabbing our Lincoln Park townhome right from the day we closed on it then. These jobs ranged from replacing a hideous previous owner's kitchen backsplash to replacing two improperly previously built roofdecks to completely gutting and transforming a LL Full Bath into a spectacular spa-like bathroom. He's single-handedly transformed our dated townhome that we purchased in 2010 into a comfortable and livable (and re-sellable) HOME for me and my wife. I highly recommend him without reservation. We often give him the key to our home and trust his men to secure it and protect our property while they're working and we're not there. They're always on time right at the time they say they'll arrive. He's a general contractor and home builder who doesn't cut corners ever, and is very good at explaining what/why/how he'll do a job, as well as there's never any surprises when it comes to cost and price. I took the time to verify his Chicago General Contractor's Licensure #1898252 under Progress Painting & Remodeling, Inc., as well as requesting he email me (which he promptly did) his proof of business liability insurance ($2million aggregate coverage) through Mutual Ins. (policy #COIL009732), and even the BBB gives his firm an A. I wouldn't hire him over and over if he didn't do everything right, which he does, so I do. An honest, hardworking, skilled, and trustworthy contractor is hard to find in the city of Chicago. I recommend this one here to you."

"Our request for an estimate was met with a prompt response. his co--worker spent much time listening to our ideas and desires for built-in book cases and crown moulding in our family room. They also made helpful suggestions. They allowed time to do a rough design on the spot and took many measurements. There was a responce within two days with a detailed estimate and a proposed start date. Upon agreement, a date for beginning was set with an estimated completion date given. Both workmen arrived on the date agreed upon and reviewed the plan with us. They were very professional and respectful of our property and that of our neighbors. Each day, the work space was left in an orderly manner. They completed the work in the time frame predicted. Time was allowed for our inspection and questions. We were extremely pleased with the work done and would highly recommend services."

"There were many structural challenges to the bathroom project, and GE Construction found some smart solutions to address the peculiarities of the space with which we were working. All work was carried out by GE-C and its affiliated teams with the exception of the shower doors which we ordered from a custom shop. The kitchen project took all of two weeks from demolition to the installation of the new appliances. The tenant is ecstatic with the results and so are we. Both projects were done to our complete satisfaction."

"We recently purchased a home built in 1885 with various 'improvements' implemented on it over it's years. All the improvements needed revision. We started to tear things out in hopes of replacing them ourselves but soon realized we were in way over our heads. Any improvements we might have made would be erased by a poor structure that didn't allow us to add value. We needed a Contractor.
Catalyst came in for the estimate shortly after I contacted them. made an excellent sales pitch showing his team's qualifications, experience, certifications and insurance. Had several other GC's in the house for estimates but none came in that left me feeling at all confident they were up for the job. I've been in homes with contractors run wild in the past so my nose is tuned to sort out promises that can't be kept. Glad that my sense of smell is still working fine as Catalyst did great work.
Work started soon after I signed the contract. Partial payment was made on the first day of work and they didn't leave the job until the contract was complete. A timeline was provided upfront in regard to what we still needed to pick-out and finalize in order to keep them busy - we kept up with those timelines and they kept busy.
was my Superintendant on the job. Over 20 years in the field that he expertly brought to working on our house. His practical experience was invaluable in helping us make difficult and sometimes mundane decisions. It's nice when you don't have to tell a contractor where electrical fixtures go.
Typical interaction...
: "Do you have a preference where I put the switches for the lights?"
Me: "Put where you think they should go."
Result: Things are perfect where he put them - where they belong.
Did I mention we were living in the house throughout the entire project? We'd move ourselves to whatever part of the house wasn't being worked on at the time, kept this to a minimum. did most of the work on his own but he would occassionally have an assistant stop by to install heavier things (think 20 foot beams). Everyone that came to my home from Catalyst was polite, pleasant and professional."

"Overall the project went well. KB was always on the job and always kept an open line of communication between us and the architect. KB always responded immediately to phone calls and e-mails with answers to all my questions. KB often had solutions and ideas to any problems or issues that unexpectedly came up. KB's employees are very talented, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The finished carpentry is amazing. We had lots of built-in shelving, wood trim detail and cabinets added to our home and KB did a fabulous job constructing them according to the architect's specifications. The tile work in our bathrooms also was done perfectly according to the plans. We changed our siding to board and KB did a phenomenal job installing it. We added stone to the porch and other exterior locations and again we were extremely happy with the results. 10 months of construction can be stressful and there were times that it was but KB always listened and did what they could to make things run as smoothly as possible. We had a 1 year walk-thru with KB and there were only very minor things on the punch list. KB stands by and is proud of their work and has repaired/adjusted all of those items. I have recommended them and will use them again for future projects. We are very happy with our "new" home."

"I called and told him the type of work i needed. He asked that i send him a e-mail with my information
and he would give me call the next day. I e-mailed him my information and pictures, and he called me the next
day with a immediate appointment date. He was on time and very professional. I was very satisfied with the
quality of his work and how well he cleaned the area after he finished."

" immediately responded after our first contact and was exceptional to work with. He came out to the site and reviewed our drawings and scope of work. As designers, we tend to be particular about the details, and with his subcontractors were able to complete the job to our specifications on budget. He exceeded our expectations by working on Saturday to make up for the time lost from 'snowmaggedon' during the first week of February. He was exceptionally clean around the house and a genuinely friendly and trustworthy person to have in the house and around our young son. Turns out, after little chit chats here an there in passing, we knew quite a few of the same people and had a good laugh on how small the world is. For jobs of this size and larger, I would definitely work with again and have recommended them already."

"We needed crown molding & painting in 3 of our rooms, dining, living, and den. came to the house and took measurements. The next day he emailed us a quote for material and labor. We then agreed to terms and a date to begin the project. brought his crew on the agreed date and they were able to complete the project in one day. Our house is old and the ceiling/walls are uneven. Therefore, had to do extra work to acheive the right fit. The end result is gorgeous...paint and all! My wife and purchased this home for several reasons, but one thing that attracted us the most was the kitchen. It had recently been remodeled and we fell in love with it. After working w/ , we learned he had actually done the remodeling w/ the previous owners. New cabinets, tiles, appliances, insulation, granite counter tops, etc. The kitchen is an attraction to all of our guests. It is where we host all of our social gatherings.
has done many projects for us in the past and will continue in the future. He is extremely trustworthy & dependable. The first time he did work for us he had me come to his home to see the beautiful word work he had handcrafted in his living room and kitchen. He has also done work for our neighbors and friends throughout Chicagoland."

"There was nothing they could have improved on. I thought they were amazing. The owner, , takes care of every little detail. He is very detail-oriented. He does everything extremely professionally and on time. He is very easy to work with. We ended up with a beautiful finished product."

"The remodel took three days. was always accessible and helpful in providing advice.
Because the bathroom was small and worked alone in the remodel. They were professional and neat. I was extremely satisfied with the job they did and would definitely hire their company again. The job went exactly as scheduled with no unexpected problems or cost."
