Chicago Concrete Repair Contractors Reviews
The site is a small loft in Chicago at State and would be done and the price and I accepted. I did do some homework and understood what the staining of concrete entailed and it semed that he knew what he was doing.
I was surprised to hear from him that the job was finished in 1 day. Earlier he said it would take 3 to 4 days. He told me that I would love it. I could not wait to see it. When I saw the floor I thought he was joking. It was painted an oil based battleship grey
with no sign of stain. He must have thought I was a stupid woman that would not know the difference. I expressed my shock and told him he did not deliver what he promised. He tried to convince me that that was the end result.
He then changed his story and said he must have misunderstood me. The next day he brought over a young non-english speaking kid to do the staining and sealing.
I had my daughter call him from our business phone number (a number that he did not recognize) and he bit. My daughter explaind to him everything that I had written above and he said he remembers me well and would get back to me. He never did nor does he reply to my daughters calls.
I also mentioned to him that if he finishes my floor he could possibly have a big job 10 floors of concrete in the building where my loft is. The Management is very interested in staining the hallways but would like to see my floor first. If there is someone out there that would be interested in this job please let me know thru Angies list.
Of our five bids,
1) # 945 DRIVER (IN A PARKED VECHICLE ACROSS THE STREET ( POLICE REPORT).2) HE MENTIONED THAT HE CAN NOT LEAVE HIS TRUCK ( REQUESTING THAT I SHOULD TAKE HIS TAKE-OUT LUNCHEON REMAINS TO THE GARBAGE ( i KNOW OF NO FAST FOOD TAKE OUT RESTURANTS THAT CAN REACH THE WINDOW )3) HE ALSO INFORMED ME TO ADDRESS HIS NEEDS TO THE
( ATHOUGH HE HAD ONE ON THE TRUCK. I HAD TO INFORM HIM THAT HE WAS PAID FOR HIS SERVICES (WITH MY ENTIRE PENSION CHECK) AND i don't WORK FOR HIM . AS HE CLEANED OUT HIS TRUCK , HE PLACED THE REFUSE INTO 2 WHELBARROWS AGAIN !! . AS HE DROVE OFF, THE OVER FILLED WHEELBARROWS SPEWED THE CEMENT ACROSS MY FRONT YARD COVERING ITS SEWER, GRASS AND AREAS OF THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD.
DUE TO THESE UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT , I HAD TO CANCEL MY 65TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!! iCAN NOT GET MY TIME BACK !!
We were skeptical at the low price, but given the other Angieslist reviews we decided to use him. Firstly, the work took more than 3 weeks to complete. He told me it would take 1 week. His crew would break up concrete, then disappear for a few days, then come back and do some more work. Then again be gone for a few days. We are a 3 story condo building. It was greatly inconvenient to not have a sidewalk, or be able to get into our basement where all electrical boxes are and all owner storage units are for 2 weeks. It also became apparent, very early on, that
The work involved shoring up our 3 story deck to put in the new patio, a new retaining wall and a new pad under the stairway of the deck. The old concrete had started to sink and our deck was leaning due the sinking concrete. This was the primary reason we had contacted the 4 other contractors we had for the work. As the work progressed,
I feel that
The additional work was done without an additional contract. After all the concrete was poured I told
A second contract was finally submitted. It contained the 4th pier and the charge for it. Which,
To conclude, the sidewalk was leveled out. The missing items were returned. Although we got back a different 4x4, that is not ours. I cleaned the basement, as
I was upset that it had been done wrong, again. I sent an email stating this and the fact that we would not pay for the 4th pier that we did not get. And we would have to purchase all new lattice and have it installed. I deducted $500 from the 2nd contract (that we had never signed) and deducted another $350 for the cost of new lattice and installation. And left a final check for him.
