Chicago Carpet Installers Reviews

"The job was supposed to be done in November. The installer came and then left shortly saying he had to pick up supplies. He called and said that something he needed was being delivered to his supplier that day. I said since it was getting so late, just to come back the next day. There was a problem with getting his kids to school and picking them up the next day and he would not be able to complete the job. I told him I had no more time before Thanksgiving and would prefer to postpone it until after the holidays - which we did. A different installer came and did an excellent job. The estimate was a little over $800 and when I looked at my credit card bill, over $1,000 had been charged. I called the sales rep and was told they had to remove the old flooring. (He didn't know that when he quoted the job?) I also noticed that the flooring was from

's, which I thought was very peculiar that they would not be buying it factory direct. My coupon was for $1,000 worth of services and I paid another $1,000, which seems quite expensive.

"I am very impressed with the quality of the carpet. The two men who installed the carpet did a fantastic job. They took their time and had many difficult cuts to do. I highly recommend this company. It's nice that we matter! Even the man who came out to measure. Took his time to do the figures. Not much scraps left. Everyone was very professional.

"I called to find out information about a stair runner and the woman that I spoke to was clearly annoyed with her job. She kept insisting that I needed to come into the showroom. I explained that with a new born that was not possible and I just wanted to find out information. She was rude and unable to assist me at all. Love the website and the quality looked great but I will not give my business to a company that doesn't appreciate their costumers.

"It went well. The sub-flooring was in rough shape and they repaired it well. The schedule and budget was tight and they were able to stay within both. Once completed the space received a lot of compliments especially the floor covering. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

"Without a doubt, this was the most aggravating and unprofessional experience my wife and I have ever experienced. We called Empire without checking out the reviews here and we have certainly learned our lesson. It started out on November 13th when we had a carpet salesman come to our home.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was our salesperson and at first we liked him. He was personable and after much deliberation, we chose a special order carpet. Little did we know, and
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
never told us, that special order carpets can be delayed by the manufacturer. We told
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
that we needed the carpet installed by Wednesday, November 27th. We had 15 guests arriving at our house for Thanksgiving and they were all staying. Many of them in our basement. He assured us the carpet would be installed by then.
On Tuesday, November 26th,
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
called to tell us our order had never been placed! He said that he made a mistake on the order and the carpet was never made! As you can imagine, I was very upset. I told
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
that I wanted all my carpet free or at a big discount.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
had the
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
to argue with me and tell me I was being unreasonable! Now, I may have been making an unreasonable request, but when you screw up, you fall on the sword and take your beating like a man. He finally called back later that day and asked if we would look at some carpet they had in stock and if we liked one of those carpets, we could get it for 20% less than what we had originally paid. We asked if the salesperson could come by around 8 that evening. The guy didn't show up until 11:15pm that night! No apologies, nothing. He showed us a bunch of crappy samples and out of exhaustion and desperation, we chose one. It arrived the next day and it looked like crap. We had them take it away. The installers were giving us a hard time because they had already laid some padding. I called Empire and I told
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
the sales manager I wanted the original carpet that I ordered. He assured me the carpet would be made on December 7th and would be installed no later than a week later.
On December 12th I CALLED
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and he informed me that our carpet was not made! Every time I needed information from
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
, I had to call him. I understand why
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
is now a sales manager. As a sales person, his lack of professionalism probably p***** off a lot of customers. So, following the
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
principal, they promote him.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
then told me our carpet would be made on December 21 and I told him to CALL ME when it was made. On December 27th, I CALLED
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
again!
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
in his
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
decided to pass the buck to a customer service rep.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
didn't have the guts to call me himself and instead had a customer service take the bullet. True to Empire's form, the customer service rep was unprepared and had no idea what he was walking into. After I gave him a polite lesson in how to perform his duties, he hung up on me! Unbelievable!
Finally on December 30th, a customer service manager called me and told me that our carpet was going to be made on January 4th. I politely asked him to lean on the manufacturer to get the carpet shipped express so we could get it installed right away. On Monday, January 6th, I CALLED Empire and found out the order was made and it was going to arrive in
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
on Tuesday, January, 7th. I was told someone would call me to set up a delivery time. WRONG! No one called again! I called them and finally got a call back. They were going to install the carpet on January 8th and were going to try for a morning install. They told me that someone would call me in the morning to let me know the delivery time window. WRONG!!!
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
the installers just showed up around 11am. I am not kidding! No call, no warning!
Finally we have our carpet installed. The installers did a good job and the carpet we picked looks great. I believe Empire built their company and reputation on good products and good service. However, those values are long gone. Everyone we came in contact with at Empire did a lousy job. No one ever took responsibility or took a leadership role and made sure I was taken care of. This whole experience could have gone entirely different if someone would have stepped up and acted like a competent professional. I can forgive mistakes and delays. Things happen. We are all human. I am a very loyal customer and will pay a little extra for good service. Be good to me and you will have a customer for life.
If you want cheap carpet, sold by poorly trained sales people, and incompetent management,
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
is your kind of vendor. Please do not pick them if you want special order, nice carpet, with people who will be make sure you are happy.

"From start to finish these guys were the complete package. I submitted a request for an estimate online.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
called me back the next day to arrange a time to come out. We landed on a Thursday evening (2 days from when we talked). Due to another salesman having some car troubles
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was running a few minutes late, but called ahead to let me know. And when he arrived, he had the other salesman with him, so we got twice the help! While
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was measuring, the other salesman (I forget his name) was walking me through the process, giving me some tips on what quality carpet is and explaining what we would need to do to prepare for installation. Once
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was done measuring and my wife had picked out the carpet we had a quote within minutes. Previously we had Empire Carpet out for an estimate, and the one from
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
(although slightly higher), was with a MUCH better carpet and better padding than what Empire was offering. I wrote a check on the spot and we scheduled the install for the following Friday. When the install day came, they arrived on time and got straight to work! They moved all the furniture, tore up the old carpet and padding and installed the new stuff in record time. The whole thing lasted less than 7 hours. It was incredible. They were clean and efficient. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

"Quote process went as usual. Their quote was right in line with all the other quotes I got. Their quote did include a bottom tension line which was a nice extra.
Once I ok'd the quote it took them a while to get back to me but once they did they were there the very next day. Good installation crew that was very professional. Job well done.

arrived on time for our quote appointment (no charge) and was able to narrow down the carpet options prior to our meeting based on comments I had made prior. He even helped me choose material and color based on traffic.
JJ and his guys did a stellar job with the install - the
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
cuts are laser straight, the seams invisible inside the closets where they had to work around the built-ins - everything looks fantastic. We were very pleased.

"I discovered a 4 foot run in the carpet where, apparently, a thread had become tangled in the vacuum cleaner. I called Exposition Flooring and left a message. The call was returned within an hour. Yes, they could send someone to take a look at it -- the next morning!
The service guy determined that the section of carpet needed to be stretched and re-sewn. In order to do this, the furniture needed to be moved (a large, heavy king size bed) which they did. Their entire visit took approximately 1 ½ hours and the result was perfect.
The bill was handled via e-mail which I always appreciate. Overall, an excellent experience.

"11/14: As I stated,
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
insisted I pay the balance when I placed the order, not a deposit. I had already paid over $500 for my coupon and could not possibly know how this company applies funds (deposit/materials/labor) to complete their work. His explanation was that upfront payment was customary and "that way he didn't have to chase people down for the balance". I am willing to concede there may have been miscommunication and if I knew what was required prior to
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's visit, I would have been better prepared. I have redeemed 6-8 Angie's List coupons and this is the first time I have encountered this situation. Please note that I did say the installers were great. I had no issues with the work at all.

I have mixed feelings about this experience. The installers were great. They were punctual, friendly, and thorough. My error was in not asking to see samples of padding. The carpet that was replaced was installed by Empire 15 years ago and was still more plush than the new carpeting.
I do have a recommendation for the company however.
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
insisted I pay the balance when I placed the order. When I pointed out the "payment on completion agreement" on which the order was written, he said upfront payment was customary and that way he didn't have to chase people down for the balance. I told him I didn't have cash, so he proceeded to run down other payment options. His insistence bordered on rudeness. I paid by credit card ( for purchase protection).
I suggest
Chicago Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
invest in a new order form. Or have two versions just in case they only insist on full payment upon order for some customers and not others. The other option might be to just let people know upfront that full payment will be required upon order.
