Chicago Bathtub Refinishers Reviews
First, my scheduling DID fall during Chicago's snowpocalypse. We had to reschedule because their contractor didn't have a snow-ready truck. That's fine. The second date, bad weather hit again and I asked the contractor to not come for his safety. Finally, someone arrived.
During the work, I could barely breathe. When I inspected the job when the technician was done, there was significan bleed-through from the old grey grout. There was bubbling, poor coverage, and orange peel effect. I was told "that's the best I can do." Four hours later, my neighbors started to complain about the smell and I had a headache to end all headaches. I called Electrobond and spoke directly with the owner,
When I called, I also informed them that I was unhappy with the quality of work as the appearance just got worse and worse as the materials dried. I took pictures and sent them to the company. 24 hours later, I had not heard back, so I had to call. I got them to have the tech come back out to fix the issues. A week later, the tech shows up without the necessary supplies because the company told him it was "just a few spots" instead of the whole job had to be redone. Which sucks because I had left ALL of the masking up in the bathroom and I'd been showering at the gym for a week to make it easier on him when he came back. I got to listen to the tech argue with the company about money and not being paid (in my living room) and admittedly, I feel for the tech. He has to pay for his own gas and when he's not given the proper job details, he's the one who loses.
The job was finally rescheduled for today. Tech shows up and things look mostly like they should. I guess. I'm not happy that this is what $900 gets me. I could have had the whole shower tile demo'd and retiled for less than that.
I still haven't received a single call from the company to apologize for my inconvenience -- this project has gone on for a month and with less than optimal results. I can't recommend that you use them as there's no way to ensure the quality of their work. It would appear that they use independent contractors to perform all of their jobs and I had 3 different people scheduled to do my work. Who knows who you'll get.
Approximately one month after the job was completed, when I returned from being out of town for two weeks, during a shower I experienced the bottom of the tub coming apart. It appeared that a plastic film had been glued to the bottom of the tub and that it was beginning to come unsealed and split into pieces. I contacted
On the day of service, the technician arrived, walked me through the process, and began working. My apartment is small and he was very respectful of my space and let me know when he was coming & going from the truck. The space was taped-off during the dusty procedures and was ventilated properly during the glazing. I was given clear instructions on care - both immediate and long-term. The actual job even came in under-budget!
Couldn't be happier!

I received 3 quotes to perform extensive work on my house. As you see from the list above, I had a ton of work done. Because of the strong reviews on Angie's List, I included Cartage in the 3 quotes I received. Like one of the other reviewers said previously, at hello you realize
Their price came right in the middle of the three quotes. Because of the reviews and the impression they left during the quote process, I elected to go with them.
The four things I judge a contractor on most are- do they do good work, was their quote accurate, are they flexible, and are they clean/respectful?
To answer those questions...
They did a great job with all of the projects listed above. I could go into detail about each project but just know each one was completed as expected. The house looks fantastic now!
Their quote proved to be accurate and they did not add additional charges or anything like that.
Additionally, they were very patient with me as I changed my mind several times on the work I wanted done.
I did not live in my place during the construction but I do share an entrance with my neighbor in the townhouse next door. Cartage was sure to vacuum the entrance each day which kept my neighbor very happy.
Overall, great experience and I would absolutely recommend them.
window that I was quoted. They also scheduled the work for a Sunday afternoon since the following Monday was a holiday. Both arrived prepared to work with all of their materials and tools.
Within 4 hours, my tub looked brand new. The color, recommended by
remodel in the near future, I plan to schedule A&M to return and complete that job as well.
