My fiance and I found
& Associates through Angieslist because we were looking for assistance with tax preparation. We have always prepared our own taxes in the past, but this was the last year that we will be filing separately and had several joint purchases (primarily a house) during the past year and wanted to enlist professional help.
and his staff were very helpful and took the time to walk us through each of our individual preparations as well as answering any questions that we had along the way about how certain purchases should be claimed. We filled out several basic forms before meeting with
at his office in Evanston, brought all of our tax documents and sat down with him for an hour or so, and they took care of the rest.
They were very thorough and professional and I would recommend their services to anyone. The price is very reasonable considering the quality of the service and
was wonderful to work with. We will definitely be back next year!

was extremely helpful with my 2013 s-corp business taxes and personal taxes for me and my fiance. This was the first year I owned my own business so I needed someone to help with accounting and taxes.
helped me throughout the whole process from setting up Quickbooks, to providing tax advice to lower my tax responsibility, to filing my 2013 returns. I was specifically impressed by how quickly
answered my questions and his attention to detail. Would highly recommend as I plan to stick with
for the foreseeable future.

Too many errors. Terrible customer service.
At first, they were fine. We always did our own personal taxes until my husband became an independent contractor.
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
set up his account and we turned all of our tax work over to her firm. They seemed a little expensive: $395 for individual taxes (we didn't itemize) and $495 for business but they set up his small business status so we stuck with them
Although our income and expenses rarely changed from year to year, we never knew what to expect. One year we'd owe $9,000. The next we'd get $3,000 back, then owe $5,000 the next and so on. I should explain that we both have federal and state taxes deducted from our paychecks and made up-front estimated quarterly payments for the business.
Then they started making careless errors, like around year three, they used an old address that we had moved from 2 years earlier. They auto-debited the quarterly business tax payment from my husbands account without any signature or notification. It was around $2,000 which left us scrambling to cover the balance so that things like our rent, insurance and utility payments didn't bounce. We got no apology for this by the way.
The last straw--and it was a big one--was when they sent us copies of our tax forms for 2011. They had left out one of our w-2s. And yet, somehow, the returns has already been filed our taxes without our signatures.
Without apologizing they re-did our taxes and surprise! We owed an additional $5,000 just in federal. Instead of apologizing and saying "we know this might sting" (after all, they know what our income is) we got an email from
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
that just said "What we need to know is if you can pay the balance up front or if you want us to set up a payment plan." Hey-- thanks taking responsibility. We opted to just pay it and be done with it.
But unfortunately, we were not done with it. Months later, we got a bill from the IL Dept of Revenue telling us we owed $6,000. Turns out that
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
and team had neglected to enclose any w-2s when they filed the amended state taxes. So we called them to fix it. Instead of just sending the w-2s like the IDOR was asking,
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
--one of
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
's associates and probably the rudest, most unhelpful person I have ever had to deal, filled out a new IL 1040 instead of an amended form and submitted it without our signature on the bottom. She did this a few times, so the records
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
and
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
. sent to use for our records contained three different IL 1040 on file for us--with different amounts owed. Each time she did this, IDOR had to shred the new forms and the w-2s she faxed with them.
The most ironic thing is that it was the reps at the IL Dept of Revenue who helped us straighten out the issue. Let me repeat that: the Dept of Revenue staff were more helpful than
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
and Associates. They were also the ones who let us know that
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
had been submitting new unsigned tax returns. Apparently, that's illegal because you can't file multiple returns for the same income.
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
couldn't grasp the fact that the IDOR couldn't accept new IL 1040s because they already showed that our taxes had been filed. Instead of fixing the mistake, she was making it worse--we could have been charged with filing fraudulent tax returns. On top of it,
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
is a yeller. If one of my staff spoke to anyone the way
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
spoke to me, they would have been dismissed immediately.
In the end, we owed IDOR nothing, but it took us two years to straighten it out. It also took me two years to review
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
and Associates because thinking about how poorly
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
handled the issue just made me angry all over again. we've learned over the last year that four of our colleagues who used to use
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
have since taken their business elsewhere.
We do not recommend them at all.

Honestly, he was very helpful - I normally do my own taxes, but this is my first year as a landlord and I was unsure how to set up the rental property in terms of cost basis, etc.
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
just answered a few questions over the phone - no charge, no waiting on hold or leaving voicemails, and no making me feel like I was wasting his valuable time (and I'm sure he was busy with other, paying customers' taxes here in mid-March). I was very pleasantly surprised. He was very clear, and helped me understand this rather confusing section of TurboTax.
If I do need to hire someone to do my taxes in the future, I would certainly call him!

is great! He's very straightforward and personable. I'm looking to start a business, and he clearly described all of my options and the benefits of each. I plan to use him for my family's taxes. Our meeting couldn't have gone better.

They have been doing my taxes for about 15 years. I have investments and when I turned 70.5 the government required minimum distributions. He really came through for me. They are punctual, efficient, and they have never made a mistake. I balked a couple years ago when I had to pay estimated taxes but every senior citizen I talked to who had any kind of income had to pay; I got over it and just went ahead and paid. I haven’t used anyone else for the last 15 years so I guess their price is good. I absolutely will use them in the future.

I received a notice of delinquency from the IRS for tax year 2010 seeking payment of $7,000 within 60 days or offering a payment plan. I did not fully understand the form, but it appeared that I had failed to report a transaction that involved my bank transferring retirement funds from one account to another. To the IRS, this transaction looked like a profit, but it really was not. The form allowed me to file an appeal, but I was not sure how to do that and sought professional help because $7K is not a small amount of money for me.
I contacted Mr.
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
. He prepared an amended tax return for 2010. Approximately two and a half months later, the IRS sent a notice confirming that I would receive a refund of approximately $4,000

In tax year 2009, they filed an extension because they weren't sure how to handle out of state income from NY and then didn't return my calls or emails for months after tax season. After unraveling the NY state income issue myself my return was finally submitted in October. In 2010, I reluctantly returned to them and this time wrote a detailed letter describing the states where I needed to file returns and why. Again, they missed the filing deadlines and then filed only Illinois tax returns. When they finally filed an ameded Illinois tax return they didn't submit one of the required forms. So, now in 2012, I am receiving letters from Illinois Tax Dept. threatening to send my unpaid tax bill to a collection agency. Over the 2 years that I have done business with them they never took any responisibility or offered any apologies for their errors, with the implication that they were my problem. This is the worst experience with a professional services firm that I have ever had.

and his team are great to work with. They are helpful, informative and responsive. We handle a lot of our own bookkeeping, but we are not accountants. Therefore, it is great to be able to speak with
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
or his team, to get timely answers so we can complete work as we need. When it was time to have our returns prepared,
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
and his team were able to use our Quickbooks data and easily prepare our returns so that we could file on time this year. YEAH!. Additionally,
Chicago Accountants Provider Name Locked
's consultative approach is very helpful as we consider how to grow the business and what tax implications could arise that may poses challenges.
