He is very helpful, understanding, and listens. He always finds a solution for my foot problems. Easy access - not a lot of walking required to get to his office. The parking lot is right there in front of his office and he is on the First floor! A wonderful thing if you are in pain! He has great credentials. I am very happy with Dr Nellas's medical care. I am in good hands!

Office on Park Rd is not very clean and I had to remind the nurse to clean and sterilize my foot before the procedure. The procedure was painful despite local anesthetic. I had pain for months after the procedure. The toe never healed properly. I went to a different foot practice where I had to have the procedure redone. The experience was like night and day. No pain during or after the procedure. Totally different post-op care instructions with more emphasis on soaking and cleaning. The new doc mentioned that the technique used by Dr

has a main office on Park Rd that is old and disorganized. One nurse is very nice but the other seems clueless. Not a very tidy place. I had concerns about cleanliness given that it is a doctor's office. The other location is space that he apparently rents out of a med-spa that is a totally separate business. He's always late or calling to change the appointment times out there. Long wait times were the norm. He required several follow-up visits but didn't notice that my toe wasn't healing properly. After a month of no improvement and actually getting worse, I decided not to take any more chances with this doc. His office and methods seemed unprofessional compared to my second choice.

Scheduling the surgery was via

, who takes great pains to explain what will happen before, during and after - and did not seem to mind additional phone calls when I wanted to ask additional questions. To correct the misalignment and remove the bunion, Dr.

performed outpatient surgery under general anesthetic. He made an incision over the great toe joint and removed the bunion, then cut the foot bone that makes half of the joint with the great toe and trims the cut to align that bone correctly at the joint. To hold the cut bone together so it will heal properly two pins are inserted, one on each side of the cut to keep it stable while it heals. The incision was closed, the foot wrapped, and I awoke as they were finishing the cast, which stays on for four weeks. The pain is to be expected for having bone cut, and once I realized that I needed to follow Dr. Futermann's recommendation for taking a

amount of pain medication I was fine. The most notable discomfort while the cast was on was that the pins are sticking out of the top of the foot and they come into contact with the cast, thereby causing irriation. The cast has a walker heal, but you will need to use crutches to go any distance because walking in the cast also presses on the pins, thereby causing discomfort. They will tell you to by a cast cover so you can take a shower, because you MUST NOT get the cast wet or let any water run down inside the cast. Once the cast came off in and the pins were pulled (amazingly with no pain) after four weeks I could walk in a sandle. Healing continued well, but you still experience pain depending on how much you work the foot, so keep the pain meds handy. I am completely satisfied with Dr.

He is a very low key, pleasant doctor. He is very knowledgeable. He seems to be pretty personable. He has a small office and the staff is very nice. The nurse there is also very knowledgeable.
