"Work went very well,
is extremely professional, and maintained communication with us at each stage of the process. His people were professional" and offered suggestions for improvements as the work progressed. The work entailed making a template for the new tops, setting up the actual slabs at
with the template superimposed and making sure that we approved cutting map. Subsequently, a visit to our home for the removal of the old tops and installation of the new ones was scheduled. The work started exactly on time and was essentially mess-free. The employees who installed the tops were very clean and professional. A slight glitch occurred during installation whereby they discovered that the existing cabinet tops were not level and the walls were not straight both requiring on-site modifications. Overall, we were very pleased with the professionalism, quality and communications exhibited by all. The new counter-tops look great.

"They didn't use industry standards and cut the stone inside the house without tenting the room. Ever since I’ve had the granite installed, I have dust" in the house that cannot be removed even though I’ve had the ductwork cleaned twice. The installer had a surly attitude and left a solvent on the backsplash. He told me that I could clean it myself. He also punctured some places on the wall without fixing it. I was disappointed. To this day, if I wipe my tabletops clean with a damp cloth, the next day there’s more dust. I’m sure it’s not healthy to breathe those particles. However, the countertops are beautiful, but the fact that the didn't abide by industry standards has resulted in dust particles in the house. This tainted the whole experience.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

Cannot tell you how pleased we were with this whole experience. We met with

at the showroom on Monday January 5th
( just was out and stopped by to look at what they offered) we picked out a door that matched our cabinets and out to the yard to select a slab. then we chose sink, faucet, edging and set up appt for measurements, and install and were out of there in about 1/2 hour. On day of install

showed up on time and had teardown and granite installed in 4 hours. They even hired a plumber who came as soon as install was done to hook up plumbing. And my house was spotless when they left ! THANK YOU to all !!! Will definately use them again...and we already have 4 referrals for them !!

First visited the business late in the day on November 20. Had the countertops installed on December 19. Might have been faster if two long weekend trips and the time to look at granite had not taken some days. Everybody who came out arrived on time, we courteous and professional and considerate of not making a mess in the house. In short, no surprises.

I was very pleased with

---especially with their responsiveness. Their communication via
Charlotte Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was great throughout the process--always very timely, pleasant, and accommodating. It was definitely not cheap for a rather small island, but some of that had to do with our semi-exotic granite choice. Plus I would rather pay a little more and have a great customer service experience and quality finished product. The installers were very polite and efficient and did a great job. The finished island is just beautiful. We also appreciated

being willing to work with us on a rather unconventional request, and though we did not ultimately pursue it we appreciated that they were willing to explore the option with us even though it is not something they ordinarily do. We will definitely contact

There is no question that this company does first-rate work.

, who did most of the tile work, is a craftsman of the highest order. There was a problem, however, early on with the date work should have begun. When I mentioned this to the owner, he gave us a rebate for the inconvenience caused. Later, it was determined by the owner there was a better way to do the job than as written up on the original estimate. Being a careful consumer, I mentioned how the new method would require less time and therefore the price should be reduced. The owner agreed and lowered the price accordingly. While I am fairly certain he would have done so without me informing him of the discrepancy, I would suggest consumers always be proactive and watch carefully that all work is completed as written, or that monetary adjustments are properly made. Finally, while the project took longer than planned, the quality of the work made everything worthwhile at the end.
- Stephanie C.

Everyone was pretty friendly. They informed me that matching up granite to an existing area will be very difficult. Since I had a really small area, suggested that I look in remnant section to be most cost effective. They measured and installed in a very timely manner.

Quality was good but they measured a little differently than the existing area, so it is about .5 in wider (side over hang), I noticed during the template measure and we discussed. Once the granite was installed, I still see the difference but my husband said it looks good, so no issues.

at Fireplace & Granite did a fantastic job setting up our granite installation. She was extremely responsive to emails, responded to my calls, and made herself available almost any time of the day with a personal interest in my job. She even met with us slightly after business hours to carefully review and advise us on our granite selection with price, wear, and color template considerations. Their price was very good, they templated very thoroughly and professionally, and the install was done well with professional pride and attention to detail. I would definitely use them again and specifically

I should have checked Angie list reviews before I made contact with

then spoke with fabrication office. Angie was supposed to phone fabrication office to set up appt. She NEVER did. Went out there and the ladies there are very helpful. But they rely on a salesperson to write up order. Nikk does not return calls promptly and cannot be located. We wasted everyone's time, mostly mine. Stay away from this vendor. I've now learned there are too many fine granite places in

Calls weren't always returned promptly, but they were very busy. Aside from that, the staff was very friendly and worked closely with me to ensure that I was happy with the end result. Furthermore, they cleaned up nicely, and did good work in all respects.
