Roof Cleaning reviews in Boston
4/14 : A they took care to rinse off the landscaping around the house, so as not to harm it. They said that the lichens should rinse off the roof in the rain within "a few weeks". They did a great job on the deck and umbrella. It's easier to see the results, as they are lighter colored than the roof or siding, but I thought it was OK. While they didn't invite me to do a walk thru, I did it myself while they were still here, and found an area that they had forgotten, and they did take care of that. I do think that it should be SOP to walk thru before AND after. I also don't like to review anyone until I have a
4/15-5/30: I kept checking on the lichens to see if and when they washed off the roof. They had turned white, but we had multiple torrential rainfalls in that time period, and they had not rinsed off. Also, I had found another area on the roof that was green with algae. I emailed the owner, and he responded promptly (6/1) that he would come by to retreat the missed area and to check on the lichens. He did say, " Its not so much the rain will rinse it off, but it is more that it needs to decompose enough so that when it rains it will wash off. "
6/12: Someone from
6/14: I happened to be home when one of the owner's son came by. Not only did he not call ahead of time, but he didn't even knock on the door. I saw someone walking around my house and went out. That's just not good form. But he was amiable, seemed to know what he was talking about, and seemed eager to take care of things. He was critical of the job that had been done and found fault with much more than I had! He said he would be back for a do-over.
6/22-7/4: While I was out of town, caring for my father,
7/5: I emailed the owner again, stating my disappointment that his son had been there 3 weeks ago, but had not returned as he said he would. I received no response.
7/7: I just happened to be home and saw someone walking around my house. Again, no call ahead, no knock on the door. Both of the owner's sons were out there in my yard. The older one who had been there 3 weeks prior, and who had seemed interested in making it right, now had a much more cavalier attitude about it. He said well, someone had been assigned to come back, but apparently they didn't. Besides, he had been traveling with his band for the last 3 weeks, and his dad had been away at a wedding, so, oh, well, shrug. Ugh. Not the kind of attitude I want after having spent $850. Eventually the owner himself arrived, too. When I asked him about the lack of followup to make sure my house had been taken care of, he said that it had been assigned to someone whom he was probably going to have to fire, and since there was no money still owed, he didn't feel the need to follow up on "just a call back". Ugh again. Doesn't he understand that a "call back" means something wasn't done right the first time and probably his customer is a bit unhappy? That remark made me a lot unhappy.
The young men went on to treat the missed areas to brush the lichens off the roof. That made me a little happier. But a week or so later when I saw all the dead leaves on the landscaping around the house, I realized that they must not have bothered to rinse the cleaning solution off the foliage, or whatever it is that they must do to protect the plants. So, now every day I feel angry about the whole experience. I didn't even bother to contact the owner again. It's a shame. I really want to like and recommend anyone who does work for us and will cut as much slack as I can. I cannot recommend this company.
