Real Estate reviews in Boston

I live in CT and had to arrange for furniture to be picked up at someone's home near Albany, NY and delivered to my daughter's new apartment in Boston, where I would meet and pay the moving men.

did an outstanding job. From the moment I contacted
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked

's List he was responsive and asked questions to get a handle on just was what entailed. His price was fair and he was willing to negotiate so that both of us felt a fair deal was struck. There was about a week and a half between the time I hired his services and the time of the move. He checked in with me to make sure that we were still "on" and answered all my emailed questions quickly.
The two young men who arrived on time, despite the terrible weather, were very professional and personable. They were so helpful to us and went above and beyond what they were hired for by pitching in a hand to help us with items that we had moved in our own vehicle. They were tireless and cheerful - truly "service with a smile".
This was a flawless service experience. As a matter of fact, I joined Angie's List just so I could show my gratitude for a job well done.

Absolutely flawless interstate move! The office was a huge help because things were so fluid on my end: I adjusted my move date four times and the last one was next day request and

was able to make it happen. The movers actually showed up and half hour early and

and his tem were brilliant: funny guys, fast and above all else CAREFUL not to scuff up the walls of scratch anything. My mom was there for unloading and they even tolerated her bossing them around and acting like an idiot (seriously mom, we had everything under control). Because I had done so much prep work the time was under the estimate and I ended up paying less then the price that was quoted. Can't wait to recommend them to all my Boston friends.

was referred to our family by my husband's coworker. I wasn't trilled about hiring movers because I am picky with who touches my things, and my kids things. But I read all positive reviews and said let's do it. Very happy & satisfied with

's service! The movers were all professional from beginning to end and even went beyond the call of duty by triple checking that nothing was left behind. These guys made it look to easy! I also want to mention the great customer service from the office, who helped organize everything: helpful, understood my expectations, making sure they were met. Not looking forward to moving anytime soon, but if we do I will definitely choose Stairhoppers and would also refer them to anyone who's looking for movers in Boston. No regrets! Again Thank you

helped me with a local in-Boston move and the service was OUTSTANDING! They called prior the arriving, were fine with an extra stop, real pros and great all around. Before I chose them I called several different places, and Stairhoppers was easiest to work with schedule wise and also offered a great price. The most stand out moment of the day - I had a huge dresser that I wanted upstairs. When we got it unloaded it really didn't look like it was going to make the it past a curve around the stairs. The guys maneuvered it and made it happen when I thought it would be impossible. Thanks again for the great service!

I wanted to use a local Boston mover for my interstate move into town from
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked
because I am skeptical about those big moving companies, better to have someone local and accountable.

came recommended from a family friend and they immediately impressed: sensible estimate, asked a bunch of questions, informative, cute voice at the office. My experience with them was very professional and capable. A good, fair price for service that it seems to me is probably the best deal better then you can expect from others. They kept in touch daily to ensure I knew what was going on during the transport, even on a Sunday. They have earned my recommendation, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've done that.

Working with this company was the worst experience of my life. do not hire any company by the name of JET BLUE VAN LINES, BLUE LINE VAN LINES,
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked
SHIPPING OR DDT TRANSPORT LLC these are all the same company.
Do not believe any reviews that you read on other sites. Every day the company generates 5-star reviews that are false....More /> initial quote by phone: a quote for the price of moving our possessions was completed by phone based on the questions asked by the sales rep. and an initial document was presented at $1,700. Then the representative asked if we would like to pay an extra $300 for expedited shipping, which we accepted. However no note was made in the contract and ultimately delivery was not expedited.
before our move: the company called us trying to charge us an extra $100 for using the elevator, although the contract stated plainly that there was no fee to elevators. The sales rep. responded with, "I probably would have waived the fee anyway."
the day of the move: the movers arrived and stated that they would have to charge us an extra $1000 for the amount of stuff that we had even though the estimate that was given was based on the questions asked by the sales rep. It was not our fault that he did not accurately estimate the cubic feet to be shipped. The movers were very rude. They yelled at us, insulted our neighbors, damaged our apartment and failed to complete an accurate inventory of our belongings.
during the move: we called every number provided by the company, spent countless hours on hold, and were provided with false information about the whereabouts of our possessions for the entire 12 days before our delivery.
delivery: the movers notified us that since they could not fit an 18-

into Boston they would have to park outside of the city and rent a u-hual. They charged us an extra $350 for this service which was not stated in the contract. Once again, the movers (different ones that those in Chicago) were extremely rude to the the management office, maintenance staff, and other tenants in our apartment building. They were even fighting amongst themselves.
every item of furniture was gouged, cracked, or outright broken beyond repair. the boxes were all so crushed and damaged that it looked like they had been stacked under furniture. An Xbox was stolen.
the company's claims office has completely dismissed our complaints.
NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW! you would be better off carrying your possessions on your back than working with this company

In summary, my delivery experienced several delays and my the delivery guys had to return to my new apartment to redeliver my couch.

, who coordinated the move gave me a $100 discount after I brought it up.
I scheduled my move thinking I had a 2 week window (maximum as I was told) to get my things from Boston to San

. The movers arrived at my apartment promptly on May 9th at 8 AM. They were very efficient and packed up the truck with my belongings within 1 hour. I watched their lead guy itemize and

my inventory. Each item (box, piece of furniture, etc) was labeled with a colored sticker and listed on the inventory.
I called a week later on May 16th at 5 pm to inquire the status of my move and was told that my shipment was still sitting in the warehouse in Watertown. Apparently their last truck left for the west coast on May 8th. There was no way it would arrive in San

by May 23rd. I was not informed of this when I made the reservation - the coordinator I spoke with kept repeating, 7-14 day window. Given that I was going to be driving across the country in 2 weeks, I did not want to risk the movers arriving before me, so I asked them to delay my delivery so that it arrived the week of June 2nd.
During my road trip I was in touch with the driver to get a better estimate of their arrival. I was told that they would arrive the weekend of June 6th or that weekend. After each call, June 6th became June 7th, then June 7th became June 8th... It turns out that one of the deliveries before San

, there was a lack of coordination between the customer and the delivery date. This person was not there to receive their items so ALL of the deliveries were now delayed. I'd like to say I finally received my things on Monday, June 9th but that's not where it ends.
I listed my roommate's phone number on my original move slip because originally he was to meet the movers in San
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked
since I was supposed to still be in Boston at the time of delivery. But during the coordination of the delivery, I was communicating directly with the truck drivers. The movers did not make the connection that the delivery I kept calling about was the same one on their itinerary with a different contact phone number (same address!). In short, they told my roommate, who was home to receive the shipment that they were 2 hours away, then called me to tell me they were right outside the apartment. I was not home to receive my shipment since I just started a new job and could not get the time off.
The movers did not deliver my couch. I had to call them the next day to find out if they still had it. Turns out it was sitting in someone's apartment already. Luckily they were still there and saw that the stickers did not match that customer's stuff. When they called me back to let me know, they said they were 5 minutes away! I was already at work, luckily my roommate was able to run home to meet them again.
The price of my move was the cheapest I found when I shopped around. I hate to say that you get what you pay for but I think in this case that is what happened. I also relied on this company to have the experience to deliver across the country. I was told that some streets in SF are too narrow that there are legal restrictions on moving trucks but I wouldn't know about the extra fee for changing truck size until my delivery. I accepted the risk but I also feel at this point, shouldn't a business be able to look up the size of the street on google maps and confirm whether or not they need to switch to a smaller truck. Oh and it did not instill trust in the driver and his partner when they insisted that the balance be paid in cash. (When my stuff was picked up, I was told that cash or cashier's check is preferred payment). Again, I was given a $100 discount for the inconveniences I experienced (after I brought it up) but the whole experience was so unsatisfying. It was really poorly coordinated. I would not recommend using their service.

They were quick, efficient, careful, and extremely hard working. They wrapped furniture (like dining room table, dresser) for us carefully included in the price. They were a great value - price comparable to everyone else, and we just could not recommend them more highly. Also,
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked
in the office really must keep the whole operation running smoothly; she was great in honoring a quote she had given us earlier (even though the price for the end of June had gone up) and in general is extremely flexible and organized.

I signed up for Angie's List specifically to
Boston Real Estate Provider Name Locked
out Movers and find a high quality mover at a good price. I purchased the $297 deal for 3 guys and a 24 foot truck for 3 hours. The deal clearly indicated that driving time came out of the 3 hours. Since they were coming from Charlestown to Beacon Hill, I thought it would be worth it.
My low rating on price is based more on expectations than knowledge. We were comparing renting our own truck and asking friends and family to help vs. the movers. I thought that we would be done in about 4 hours, meaning an extra hour over the deal plus tip. Therefore, I thought the movers was a no brainer, but in the end the cost was significantly higher.
I spoke with the main office before the move. They handled everything, including reserving the parking permit for the truck. The scheduled arrival time was between 2 and 4. At approximately 1:45 I received a call from the driver letting me know that they would be there at approximately 2:30. At 2:30 I got a call that they were on there way and they arrived at 3PM.
There is quite a bit of paperwork, more than I expected. There is a basic insurance included with the move, or you can purchase upgraded insurance for $75 for $5000. I opted for the basic. I also opted for using their furniture pads. Finally, I opted for one mattress cover, $10, for the nicest mattress. I was asked to sign an additional waiver of understanding regarding the other mattresses.
The three guys were very professional, strong, hard working, and meticulous about the wrapping of the furniture. They also provided a few additional boxes (at a charge). We have a lot of furniture for a two bedroom, but it did take a while. It was 3 hours on the loading end of the move, and they were not waiting on us to pack.
We picked up pizzas and the guys were thankful and ate quickly, possibly knowing that all time is charged, but I appreciated the efforts.
On the unloading end, it was very lengthy. It took approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes to unload. The problem, primarily, was that the building elevator was on the opposite side of the building, and it wasn't dedicated to our move. I estimate that we paid for an additional hour due to the wait time on the elevator. Toward the end the new apartment was getting full and the guys were tired and abotu 20% of the boxes ended up in the wrong places. Otherwise, they did a very good job.
At the end, they presented a bill that outlined the time, the tape, the boxes, the pads, the mattress cover, plus what they estimated to be 30 minutes of driving on each end... They deducted the deal and I was left with a whopping $725 bill (Remember, I already paid $300 for the deal). I had initially taken out a few hundred in cash (there is a 5% cash discount) expectting it to be plenty. We ended up paying a portion in cash (all we had on hand), which was applied a discount, and the remaining portion in credit, which was not discounted. It was all quite clinical. I tipped 5% of the total bill, based upon things I read online about tipping movers.
All in all, a good, but expensive job.
