Boston Plumbers Reviews
"I am so pleased with mess and double checked everything before he left. He even took 20 extra minutes to help me fish my husband's razor out of our bathtub drain!<br /> <br /> Without a doubt, I have found my new plumbing company. And I will recommend them to anyone!"
"Called on a Friday to arrange for someone to fix the leaky toilet. The first appointment was rescheduled for Monday. Since the leak wasn't causing any damage or disrupting life, this wasn't a problem. On Monday, the plumber came as scheduled and replace the hose between the water shut off and the toilet tank. Everything seemed okay. Charged me for the visit, the labor, and materials. When I returned home that evening, I noticed I was still getting water under the tank, but near the base of the toilet. Called Tuesday morning. A different plumber returned and said it probably was the wax seal. He replaced that. Since it was a continuation of the job from before, they only charged me for additional labor and materials. Seemed like everything was okay. Returned home and checked the toilet, by flushing. Water dripped from the bolt that connects the tank to the bowl. I had to tighten up the bolt myself. Right now, it all seems fine.<br /> They were courteous and neat, seemed to know what they were doing. But the experience made me wonder how thorough the guys were."
" out"/enlarge the closet (essentially, lengthening some walls)<br /> Did the finish work so that the interior and exterior were paint-able<br /> Installed new flooring<br /> Cut and installed a custom threshold<br /> Moved a light switch and did some other electrical work<br /> <br /> The bathroom was a standard tile job, but they needed to improvise a bit to accommodate our new shower head and other fixtures. They also did electrical work to move a switch in a bedroom closet, and they installed under-cabinet lights in our kitchen, and installed new trim around a bathroom window.<br /> <br /> Their work is excellent. Very nice finish to everything they did, and they worked around a lot of gotchas (as every good contractor needs to once they "get under the hood"). Midway, I asked them to add in some work (installing under-cabinet lights), and they accommodated that with ease. My only complaint is that we wish they would have advised us to pull out and replace the bathtub before having the tile replaced. At least, I don't *think* they advised us on that; perhaps they did but I'm mis-remembering. Or perhaps they were trying to keep us within our budget.<br /> <br /> It was a very positive experience. "The process is a bit complicated because it involves installing two systems. He came to my home, looked at the system and gave me an "approximate" price for a system he said that he had used for other customers. He said that he would get back to me with a written estimate. A week and a half passed and I did not hear from him. I called him again and asked for a written estimate. After reminding him of the "approximate" estimate, he said that the price he had quoted was for the equipment only and that labor costs would have to be added on and that he would get back to me with a date/time that we could meet. To date, I have not heard from him. I sensed that he did not want to do the job. I am curious that if he didn't want to do the job, why he didn't just say so. "
"Plumber arrived promptly at appointed time, and gave an estimate for kitchen drain work at $1200, figuring 5 hours of work. This seemed very high, but we were in a jam and needed the work done quickly so we agreed. He scheduled to come back the following week. One week later, he called in sick, and another plumber was sent. This guy looked over the job and decided he couldn't do it himself, and said he'd be back the next day. He came back with a helper, and fixed the drain. He then looked at the toilet and as the fixture had been installed before the floor tile, we were concerned about damage to the floor when removing the old fixture. He said he'd be careful, but when we heard banging and went to investigate, we found him pushing against our brand new tub and kicking the toilet. When we reminded him that he needed to be careful and we didn't want the tub damaged either, he said "Do you want it done, or not? and "If the tub gets damaged from this, it must be a crappy tub.". Of course we needed it done, and of course he did damage the floor (fortunately not the tub). So much for being careful... After finding the object lodged in the toilet, he announced that it couldn't be removed (we wonder about that), and said we needed a new fixture. He later returned with the wrong sized toilet and had to come back a third time. The toilet and install came to $800. Eventually all work was completed, but while there, he had tried to pressure us to also replace a perfectly functioning water heater with a new one, simply because it would be out of warranty within a year. Why would we want to do that? He quoted us over $2 thousand for the installed water heater- also way too high-- and seemed very irritated that we would not agree to have the work done. It was after this conversation that the floor was damaged. We would not use this company again. We called them because we needed the work done quickly, and several other plumbers we called did not call us back right away. While the work was completed, and both our kitchen drain and new toilet work fine, we did not care for his attitude, the price, or his lack of care in completing the work."
"I looked a previous reviews and read a description of a customer's leaky water heater that matched our story identically (see 7/5/11 entry). Based on the fantastic reviews, called the company. My experience read exactly as that described for 7/5/11. Individual who took my call was pleasant, patient and very, very helpful. She provided an outline of the costs and asked for specific information regarding access to our basement and put a plan in motion. I called at 1:00 yesterday afternoon, they were able to come this morning at 9:00 and were done with the entire process by 10:15. The technicians were friendly, helpful and efficient!"
"<span style="font-family: arial; color: #2c2c2c;">It went pretty well. They did fine. I have used this plumber for years and they are my plumbers of choice. They are sort of at the high end of the price range but they do excellent work. They show up for the job and are experts. They don't mess around and get the job done. I will use them again in the future and am not going to any other plumber. If they can do the job I will always use them. </span>"
