"Because my son's shoulder was not improving, he was scheduled for an MRI on Christmas Eve. We did not expect to hear back with the results until after the" holiday. Yet, Dr.
called within a few hours to give us the report. Very pleased with his knowledge and rapport.

"The staff was very helpful on the phone when I inquired about my insurance and need to make sure my visit was covered. My appointment was for 9:40. I arrived at" 9:30 and the waiting room was almost filled with people. Within ten minutes all 30+ seats were taken and people were standing and leaning against the walls. After over an hours wait I was taken to the inner waiting room where the (I am not sure if she was a nurse as she was dressed in street clothes) ASKED my weight/height which I told her. Then she asked me what my blood pressure was. I didn't know so she said, 'I guess I'll have to take it'. Then she said she was going to take me in for an X-
. I told her the doctor should have my MRI. She looked at my file (for the first time) and said, 'oh, you're right'. She left. I waited another 7 minutes and heard the doctor outside the door, (walls were very thin) say, 'I'll do that after I finish with this room (not patient)". Dr.
was very nice, a little patronizing but to the point said that I would need surgery. He apologized for the long wait, saying everyone wanted to see the doctor during the holidays. (No excuse to overbook, my thought). He said he would be giving me two prescriptions; one for pain and a salve to put on my shoulder that would ease the pain. After 8 minutes (I had my iPad to do work so I timed my visit) the woman in street clothes came in and handed me a paper to give the billing person. I said, the doctor was giving me two prescriptions. She said she hadn't been told. She left. 4 minutes passed. She returned with one prescription. I again said, the doctor was giving me two. She left. 3 minutes passed. Another lady entered (in a uniform) and said that the doctor normally doesn't give prescriptions for pain until after the surgery. I said he told me he would. She left and returned after 6 minutes with the prescription. By this time, both the inefficiency of the support staff, the
lights and the peeling cabinets did not
well for an Angies List A+ doctor (I used Angies list to find a orthopedic surgeon). I have since scheduled an appointment with another orthopedic surgeon using my doctors recommendation.

Shoulder and arm orthopedics

Some orthopedic doctors specialize in the treatment of ailments affecting the musculoskeletal system of the shoulders and arms, including inflammation, fractures, tears, injuries and diseases.

Unfortunately, many people underestimate the severity of an injury to their biceps tendon and delay seeking treatment. (Photo by The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group)
Orthopedics - Shoulder & Arm

Knowing how to tell "it's just a sprain" from a serious biceps tendon tear can mean the difference between a successful surgery and lasting arm muscle weakness.

Besides cortisone shots, other treatments for shoulder pain are available, including anti-inflammatory medication and physical therapy, says Frisella. (Photo by Kiel Hauck)

Inflammation is the root cause of many problems that affect the shoulder while resting. Inflammation can result from several different underlying problems.

Sounds like you should be pursuing a disability claim.  Also, you could speak to your previous doctor frankly about your concerns.
Have they made orthotics for your shoes that distribute your weight better?

Hi,

This is James W. with Member Care. Thanks for posting your question.

It looks like when you signed up online on 8/5/2014, that you accidentally joined our greater Portland chapter instead of our Salem/Corvallis chapter that your zip code falls under. I have transferred your subscription to that chapter, so you will now have access to the correct area.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at 1-866-783-2980. We're open weekdays from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.

Thanks again!

me, never happened, I called 4 times the next day to speak with the dr. no return call. I called after hours 2 times for doctor on call/someone to call as I was having some problems, no call. Called the next day 3 times, had a nurse return the call but she said she didn't know what had been done and she would have dr to call. no call.. Called the next day (day 4) 3 times, finally had an intern return my call, I ask why the dr. never returned calls, he said the doctor was to busy to return calls, Intern couldn't answer my questions, I ask for Dr.

to call me, nothing happened. Within 1 week I had the bill. I had to go to my primary care dr. to remove staples and he answered some of my questions. If Dr.

finds speaking to patients a problem maybe he should find something else to do. I called and spoke to the VCU patient advocate, she said she would look into this at once. She called that afternoon, said she was very sorry but she couldn't get the doctor to return her call, she didn't know what else to do.

Great! I had heard from several others what a painful surgery to expect and how bad the rehab would be. I have had none of that. The surgery went well. No pain medication after the 5th day. Rehad started after the 8th week and hasn't been painful at all. I look forward to it and am excited that after just 4 months I can go so much more than before the surgery.

Right shoulder rotate cuff tear repair. Preoperatively he said the repair would be very difficult if possible at all. I appreciated his honesty. I think Dr.

is skillful talented and highly qualified to do any kind of surgery involving the shoulder. I have no knowledge relating to other types of surgery. Today I have complete use of my arm, no pain or lack of motion.

I went in for a follow up. I broke my shoulder and I went to him. He is very friendly, patient and takes the time to explain things and answer questions. He made me feel very comfortable and over it was a wonderful experience. The environment was pleasant and clean.

It was my first time seeing the doctor and everything went well. I will be going back for further treatment. I am seeing him for a sore shoulder. We started with a cortisone shot and will be going back for an MRI. He was very friendly. He provided a quick and accurate diagnoses. The staff was very friendly and I had no problem scheduling my first visit.

Her bedside manner was that of a spider. Her credibility is dirt. She stated that another provider had placed my prosthetic two and a half millimeters off but would NOT put it in writing. The other doctor has pretty much destroyed my bone. I have a witness. The hand is a more decoration than anything else. It looks nice but it doesn't function. Her staff stood behind her and not behind me at all. The only way I will take this review down is if I got a letter of deep apology and admission of the truth.

I am allergic to pills and they wanted to give me pills. She said to me that I have this back and knee injury and she gave me a high blood pressure pills. I ask her why I need it and the pills made me sick. I went in for flu shot as well. The new doctors are not very good. Her mannerism is nice and she does not check your hearing or anything else. They talk to you for about 5-10 minutes and then they shove you out the door. When I went in for shoulder surgery I almost died. For my knee surgery, they were supposed to put a cast on my leg instead they put an iron in my leg and now I have arthritis. If they will lie to you they will lie to you.
