"I bought the grab bars myself at a home improvement store. This vendor told me he would only install
approved grab bars, which is a good" thing, in my opinion. He is careful to install a quality product and install it properly - because after all, people are depending on him for their safety. He installed them where I asked, gave his opinion based on safety practices, and did a very clean job.

Dear Angie: Where can I get professional advice about making our home accessible for the disabled? We need a ramp with a railing so someone can get from the street to our front door. — Sidney L., Silver Spring, Maryland

They came out and fixed a problem I was having with my stair lift. They stood by their work, as when we had problems with it again after they came, they came back out and tuned it up again for free They were very kind, and reasonably priced.

I purchased what I thought was a new walker, it needed to be fixed right away. They charged me twice what the maker of the walker charges on-line. I also purchased a wheel chair and again, they charged me three times as much as the maker of the wheel chair charges on-line. They told me that there was no warranty on either product despite the website saying there was a life time warranty.

This company, under another name, has screwed so many people they were bought out by

and changed the name. United Healthcare said they used Wheelchair Professionals and
Boston Handicap Ramps Provider Name Locked
was the local dealer.

It's taken almost 6 months to get this wheelchair. I've been stuck with them. After not getting calls returned for months, I finally got one.

I was supposed to have a removable cushion so I can get different ones as my spine worsens. They didn't tell me that, though - I found out on my own. They screwed up the sizing too. The seat was rocking back and forth, too, which is not what it was supposed to do. They said it was normal, though. I also asked them to adjust my seat, and the guy was beating on it and fighting with it to do so. It still rocked after that. A friend who builds cars looked at it and said the screws were loose. He said if I'd let that go, the whole thing would have fallen apart. Some of the screws had mud in them too.

We went to adjust the chair and make it higher. There were a bunch of sharp edges under it and my hand flew up as we worked and sliced up my hand. It bled terribly. I had to go to the ER from the gash. It had to be treated as a wound because they were concerned about infection.

After two weeks, someone was finally available to help and I finally got the company to come out to adjust my chair higher. Almost every screw was loose and I told them about that. They told me that they'd have to order a part for it. I also asked him to take the back pin off to see the battery. This guy lied and said he didn't know how. It was just him being lazy because you have to tug hard to do it. I started to

They said they sent the complete chair out and didn't put it together. I checked with the manufacturer and they confirmed that. So I'm

the manufacturer.

They also didn't give me a charge receipt I can use for taxes. They didn't charge my card before the end of the year either, since the driver didn't put the expiration date. This also means I can't change insurance companies this year. They have never given me a breakdown of my bill, either. This whole thing has been an absolute mess.

Owner was quite professional, came in a timely manner, gave me suggestions as to placement of grab bars as well as another location in bathroom where a grab bar may allow me to get in and out of my bath tub. He quoted me the price for grab bars on the phone and I did not need a free consultation- it would have been time wasted for all when I knew my basic requirements. He brought several different sizes of grab bars to help in the decision-making process
