"For front hallway, I wasn't sure what material to use. They suggested a type of vinyl plank that looks like wood. It's better in areas that may get damp." It looks nice, looks like wood. I also had put in my office space also. It's very durable. The salesman talked to me about options. He was very good in explaining different flooring options. Scheduling was very easy. They were on time and worked the entire time they were there and cleaned up well afterwards. Would definitely use again!

"Whole project went well. The floors turned out beautifully and the team cleaned up the sawdust from sanding really, really well. I was tremendously pleased with" the results and would recommend to anyone looking to have floors refinished or relaid - they did a great job with all parts of this project.

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
?
I agree with your choice - this is about the only product that can realistically, for a large room, be taken out and cleaned up after a flood and reused, thouhg carpet can be if you strip it into smaller pieces to carry wet, AND you have somewhere to wash and dry it - that is usually the problem. However, bear in mind it still has to be done within about 2 days or mildew/mold will grow on it, and may or may not be totally removeable. My personal preferences - mostly because their products are consistent, the joints stay snapped together, and they are not overly soft (a problem with cheap vinyls) are Pergo, Tarkett, Armstrong. Whatever you buy, be sure it can come back apart - some plank products are not made with a self-adhering contact glue in the joints that prevent you from taking it apart again, and some brands their snap design, while maybe better at preventing joint separation, cannot feasibly be unsnapped without tearing or breaking it off. Also, be sure whatever brandname and product line you choose it 100% vinyl (other than the urethane surface protective layer) - many vinyl floor products have paper or fiber cores or other water-absorbing components. Remember that, on concrete, since it wicks soil moisture through it, you till need a 6 mil vapor barrier under the flooring and positively sealed all around the edges to avoid the risk of mold growing on the underside of the vinyl.
?
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Our biggest issue was that one of the employees went through our house and stole a number of items. Our drawers were gone through, I found my stemless wine glasses in a flowerpot on the roof along with some of their trash, someone had used my husband's razor, and someone took a shower and used our towels. Along with these items we did find a few ...More things in the house that were broken (including our subwoofer and a door handle). The owner of the company was able to retrieve some of the larger items (mostly jewlry) and return them to us, which we do appreciate.

The project was supposed to take 3-4 days but was delayed multiple times. It was begun on May 27th and we ended up halting the job on June 6th and it was only partially completed. We were given multiple times indicating when they would arrive and begin work and none of these were met. We finally hit our limit on Saturday and halted the project as stated.

Excellent work, Great pricing & Extremely professional.... I've used Junior and his team on multiple projects that included; complete remodels, kitchens, baths, painting, flooring etc (my own home & income properties). Basically I've gotten to the point where if I need anything I give Junior a call to do the work. It's not always ...More the biggest jobs (sometimes it is!) but if I give him a call he's always right there. Before I started working with him, I was always concerned about how responsive/trustworthy a contractor would be. After working with these guys for a few years I don't have that concern anymore. Junior is my go to guy.
My last project was a complete gut and refinish a decent size kitchen. As usual the work was completed on time, on budget and the fit & finish was great. They really walk you through what is going to happen and what you should expect. If something does come up they're very proactive/straight forward about what the issue is and give you a few ways to fix it. They definitely give you the feeling that you are part of a team and everyone is going in the same direction.
I don't have enough good things to say about Junior and the team. I look forward to working with these guys in the future and highly recommend them to anyone!!!!

Considering the underlying issues that were found during demolition, everything went remarkably well!
First, as noted elsewhere, does charge $75 for a rough estimate. However, it was well worth it. Not only did he show up exactly on-time for the estimate, he spent a good hour or so going through many of the details with ...More me. He told me upfront that there were likely more significant issues going on behind the wall -- and, boy, was he correct. At the time, he recommended that we replace the entire shower, estimated at around $10,000 plus tile.
Several months later, I decided to formally enlist S&W Tile's services. again visited us conveniently on a Saturday to walk through the job in even more detail. We spent almost two hours planning out the job and refining logistics. He suggested I plan ahead and buy new seals for all the plumbing fixtures and shower doors, which turned out to be a very good idea given their lead time. He then gave me a firm date of when he would start (approximately four weeks later) and estimated that the job would take four-to-five days. At this point we made a down payment of $3,000.
Sure enough, a week and a half before the job was to begin, contacted me to let me know that he had a cancellation and could start the job a week early, if it was convenient to us. We agreed, and arrived on time the following Monday morning to begin. With his prior guidance, we had the area thoroughly prepped for his work.
On Monday afternoon, called to give me a status update and sent me videos of some of the demolition progressed. As alluded to earlier, he found significant problems. Within five years of the initial installation, the structure of the shower seat had completely rotted away. Furthermore, the copper drain that we had installed (which we thought was a good idea) had been installed incorrectly, preventing water from draining. When got to the , he found about four inches of stagnant standing water in the . The level of rot found and some added difficulty in saving the existing granite bench resulted in a relatively small change order of $1500.
As the week pressed on, things went a little smoother. On Day Two, we had to purchase some additional tile, but was kind enough to pick it up for us. We also had to coordinate debris removal separately, which S&W Tile did not provide but assisted with. Throughout the week of their work, I came home to a very clean and organized job site. Tools were neatly put away, drop clothes were removed, and all the areas were swept clean. Very high for cleanliness!
All in all, we are quite happy with the process, the workmanship, and the results.

told me exactly when they would show up. They were on time and did exactly what they promised. Although the proposal warned that their "dustless system" was not perfect, in reality they left the room spotless with no sanding dust. They removed scratches that I thought were too deep to remove. While not inexpensive, ...More they were less expensive than the other quote I got by a significant margin.

Very well: on time and well done. There were two surprises, neither very important. First, the original subfloor was too well glued in place and couldn't be removed. The new subfloor overlay raised the finished floor to the extent that adjoining doors needed their bottoms raised (by others). Also, the old house has no kitchen baseboard, so the ...More new flooring needed caulking where it met walls and cabinets (also by others).

In general, very positive experience with iFloors. All my materials arrived, there were some damage to the boxes, but as these could be used for offcuts, this was not a major issue. The delivery truck used by iFloors didn't bring a dolly to unload the truck. iFloors is contracted to unload these curbside. As a result, I assisted with unloading, ...More and the delivery company refunded the delivery charges.
The floors themselves are as described, and arrived individually wrapped to protect the finish. Great addition, and streaks ahead of the previous flooring in the apartment. It's still too early to see how they hold up, but I have no further follow up to date.

It went well. and were timely and neat and efficient and considerate. We were barely aware of their presence. No noise or AM MUSIC ON A BOOM BOX like many contractors. We were fortunate to have found them. PS: I am a top level certified Emeritus ASHI home inspector and am experienced in most installation ...More and repair trades. I was too busy to perform these install ations and it would have taken weeks for me to do what and did in three short days.
