Member comments "After searching the area for good-quality cabinetry for a wall bed, I was ready to order one from the Washington, D.C. area, but finally found this company. [Goemaere] was very helpful in sorting through the options, and he and his partner installed a gorgeous wall bed in my guest/office/TV room, freeing up a large amount of floor space. The cabinetry is almost true custom-quality and much better than anything else in the area. They import from a company in Canada, and the wood and staining are excellent. The wall bed design allows the use of a regular inner-spring mattress, which means a very comfortable bed."

Barnett says the wall bed is every bit as comfortable as a conventional bed. "My first houseguest says she slept like a log on the bed," she adds. "We saw some footage, and Ty was supposed to pop out of the wall bed, but it got cut and didn't make it into the show," Goemaere says. "It was an incredible project, and we were happy to donate our time and a wall bed for such a great cause. We would gladly volunteer again." "The floor space opened up by the wall bed makes this a much more usable room when guests aren't staying over," Barnett says.

Move that wall bed
When the design team for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" contacted Boston Wall Beds last summer to install a wall bed for Sarah and Lou Vitale and their two young sons of Athens, Vt., Goemaere didn't hesitate to say yes. "I was more than happy to help - I have three little girls who watch the show," he says. Goemaere and McCarthy kept the job a secret, according to network rules, and headed to the small Vermont town Sept. 11. "Once we arrived, it was total chaos, but well-managed and organized," Goemaere says. Goemaere and McCarthy volunteered by loading everything from lamps to furniture onto trucks. When the time came to install the wall bed, they got to enter the house. "The majority of people have to stay outside, so we were lucky," says Goemaere, who sadly didn't get to meet Ty Pennington, the host. "We did get to meet the rest of the crew though. They told me Ty is the same 'cool character' in person that he is on the show." Boston Wall Beds' beautiful wall bed didn't make it onto the show when it aired Dec. 9, but Goemaere says he'd gladly volunteer again. "We saw some footage, and Ty was supposed to pop out of the wall bed, but it got cut," he says. "It was an incredible project for such a great cause."
