Boston Appliance Repair Experts Reviews

I had a horrendous experience with them last week.
They gave me a 3 hour window to wait for them last Wednesday, between 11am and
2pm. So I arranged my schedule to be home for 3 hours in the middle of the
day. No problem, it was worth it to me to get the dishwasher

I spoke to the dispatcher at length and gave him my
name and address, and the make and model of my dishwasher, and I told him what I
needed. I bought the appliances from them, and they installed my refrigerator,
dishwasher, microwave and my oven. They also sent a repair person earlier this
year to my home to replace the igniter on my oven. They had me in their
system! Despite all of this, the dispatcher gave the repair person an address
in Roslindale that does not even exist. I live in West

, where they came
twice before to deliver and install my appliances and to make a repair earlier
this year.

The repairman called me at home and I have him my
correct address. He came by at five minutes to 2pm, and after 5 minutes he told
me I needed a spring on the dishwasher door. I knew this already. He said he
would have to order the part, and I would have to block off yet again a 3 hour
window to wait for them. He said the dispatcher did not tell him what was wrong
with my dishwasher.

At this point I got on the phone with the
dispatcher and he claimed that I gave him the wrong address and my phone did not
work (the same phone I was calling him on and the one his dispatcher called me
on twice that day)! Then he started calling me "sweetie", "honey" and "little
lady"! At that point I used some choice words and hung up on him. I was

The repairman said he would have the owner call
me. He told me that the dispatcher had "problems". This was last week, and I
still have not heard from the owner. No apology for getting my address wrong,
my phone number wrong, not sending the repairman with the correct part in the
first place, and for his dispatcher talking to me in a patronizing manner (after
we spent over $10,000 with them on appliances for our kitchen over 10 years
ago)! To add insult to injury, when I called the dispatcher, he had the wrong
make and model noted for my dishwasher (the one they had sold me and installed -
incorrectly, for me in the first place).

Needless to say, I am done with them. I am a very
reasonable woman, and as a small business owner I understand the need for good
customer service. They are terrible!
"The repairman showed up on Saturday, knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it. He was courteous and respectful and on time. I have used Boston Appliance for the last 13 years for all of my major appliance repairs.
"Wonderful education on the care of high end appliances and what the owner can do to maintain all appliances. Also recommended a warranty product for the Sub-Zero as any work or part replacement would exceed the cost of the warranty. Indepth knowledge on all appliances and smart thinking about approriate service and use of warranty.

on Wednesday and he was able to come out same day, but that wouldn't work for my schedule. So we agreed for him to come on Friday, and he gave me a window of 11am-1pm. He arrived around 12:15 with his partner. Within about 10 minutes they diagnosed the problem and gave me a quote for the repair work. They had the spare parts needed in his truck. Total work tool about 1 hour 15 minutes, just as he had predicted. Overall they were prompt, courteous and very helpful.
I'm not sure about the cost of the parts vs. labor, since he did not itemize those costs on the bill. But based on my after-the-fact estimates for the parts (I looked online and found most of the items on ebay or at parts dealers), I think the retail cost for the parts was probably around $200, which means the labor was about $350 for two people, 1.5 hours of work. Not low-priced, but hey it's a Sub-Zero refrigerator so there's some premium implied. All in all it's certainly "within range" of what I would have expected and not something I'm complaining about.
"At 10 a.m. on a Saturday I called

to discuss a possible repair of my dryer. I was told that a repairman could be at my home between 2 and 5 p.m. that day. I asked that he/she call me before arriving since my doorbell was broken. At 2:15 p.m. I received a call from the repairman that he was standing on my porch.

"Very well. Most places won't service a Subzero that old.

's was up front about the minimum cost of service call at $135. So, while $350 total cost isn't cheap, they could easily have ripped us off with un-necessary work or component replacement (I would have bet that we were staring at a new condenser and a lot more expense).

"Our refrigerator was making a new sound and was not cooling properly. We called

and they had a repairman at our house (at the pre-arranged time) the following day. The problem was quickly diagnosed to be a failed fan. They ordered a replacement fan. A few days later when the fan arrived, they came out to install the part - problem solved. The part was delayed by a day, but they did call ahead of time to let us know."
"My late model refrigerator/ freezer stopped "cooling" suddenly on a very hot Friday night. After troubleshooting with the manual and on line, I called several repair shops, including the store that sold it to me, on Saturday morning. Boston &

stood out from the crowd.

Not only was their basic trip cost and hourly rate, lower than anyone else, there was no surcharge for a weekend call. They were not able to come that day, but scheduled me for 11-1 the next day, Sunday. ( Others had offered me appointments 4 days to a week out).

"They gave me a window of 10a-2p on Saturday, and he was there at 10a. He replaced my dryer heating element super fast and was in and out in about 40 mins. He told me that it would be $150 after the problem was diagnosed and before he started working. That would include the $65 service call fee. He was very professional, and it was a overall very good experience. "
"It was fine. They would have come to fix the oven the
