"After our dishwasher leaked, we looked at Angie's List and found . We called to schedule an estimate for repairing our appliance and we were given an appointment for the next day, which we were happy about. We were quoted a fixed charge of $60 (actually $59.99) for a diagnosis of our dishwasher, and should we decide to fix our ...more unit. Two employees of the company came to our home within the appointment window. Yet right from the start they seemed in an extreme hurry and did not introduce themselves at all. Upon jogging to my kitchen, noticing that we had taken our dishwasher from under the counter to dry our floors, and so that access would be easier, one of the repairmen gleefully told us that they were going to have charge extra to put the dishwasher under the counter. Without any hesitation they removed the dishwasher's door's front cover and shortly thereafter began to move the appliance. At this point I interrupted and asked what the price would be to move the dishwasher under the counter. I was told that they would charge $50 extra. I politely pointed out that I was not informed of this charge. In turn, they scolded me for moving the dishwasher. I indicated that if having the dishwasher under the counter was a requirement and if this would result in nearly doubling the estimate from $60 to $110 then it was only fair and professional to mention this upfront on the phone. I also questioned why it was so necessary to put the dishwasher under the counter if after all it was quite possible to hook up all electrical and water lines without moving the unit. Further by not moving the appliance we would have the advantage of being able to see around and underneath the dishwasher as it operated. The repairmen insisted in moving the appliance and in their extra charge so I was forced to indicate to them that this was not acceptable and asked them to leave. At this point the repairmen jogged away from my home and left behind my dishwasher without its faceplate --did not bother to put it back as it was. Now a company can certainly charge any fees they want if they inform the customer ahead of time. Further quoting $50 for a job that would take about 5 minutes, 10 minutes at most is not right. My experience seems to have been an anomaly given so many good reports in the List for this company, but in my case my experience was poor."
