"Great job! They were able to come the same afternoon I called and had the parts they needed available. They showed up a few minutes early. A lot of our screws" were rusted into place but they drilled them out with no complaints even though the job took longer than they expected. Dryer is now working very well again. Cost was a bit more than quoted because of the extra labor involved with the screws but still less than I was expecting since they had basically another hour of labor.

I called, and the issue was fixed in less than 10 minutes. I have used them before and will continue to use them.

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

Since you asked this question over a year ago, I'm pretty sure you've already made your decision but I'd like to offer you some advice.  You mentioned your husband vacuumed the coils and it worked for a couple more weeks.  Chances are the condenser coils were very dirty when he did this.  When refrigerator condenser coils are dirty, the compressor overheats and heat will cause a compressor to fail prematurely.  You should vacuum or blow out your condenser coils regularly.  Today's refrigerator compressors are not made to last like they were in the past.  I remember when it wasn't unusual for a compressor to last 30 years.  You won't see that happen with the way refrigerator compressors are made today.  Regular cleaning of your condenser coils is crucial in preventing premature failure of your compressor.  For more tips, check out my article here on Angie's list titled "How To Avoid Appliance Repairs"

Appliance Repair reviews in Boston

Fixed my washing machine. He then went to my oven. Said I needed parts. Gave him money for parts. I have waited for him 3 different days. He called and said he was having issues with his vehicle, as he had the parts. He hasn't answered his phone since.
- Kim R.

First service call went really well. I've been trying to schedule a second service call to repair my dishwasher for the past three weeks. They have an antiquated answering service. Their actual staff can't schedule appointments - requiring the technician to ca back. I've literally called 10 times and still haven't has anyone out to my place for the service call. It's maddening how difficult it has been to schedule a repair. I give up!

I'm so glad I went with the reviews I read on this list. They were spot on!

was on time, professional (called when he had to be late because his car stalled), and did the job and then some. A new leak appeared in the washing machine before he left, so he fixed that too at his own cost. Besides doing a terrific job, he's kind of a philosopher too: "money is great, but being happy is more important". YES! I will definitely call upon him for any other appliance repairs.

My tenant complained of a gas smell and clicking. I told them not to use it at all. Since I was going up to NH for the weekend, I didn't feel safe leaving the area know that they were having a problem with the

, especially a gas one. I was having difficulty finding someone that could make it there the next day. The owner made a huge exception for me, since he would be in the area and was able to make it there and meet with my tenant, even though I couldn't be there. I was also able to pay him over the phone, so it was a huge convenience for me.

On the first and second visits, they called before they arrived and came in on time. They were very professional in demeanor. They assessed the problem quickly (a broken water line), and ordered the necessary part before they left. They worked quickly and efficiently. Both times they came, they cleaned the work area and left my kitchen looking as though no one had been there. They also provided excellent advice on appliance maintenance for all my appliances. This was the best service I've ever received!

Very professional and left the kitchen area cleaner than they found it. I had sent them a picture of the manufacturer's info plate on the side of the door, and they arrived with the proper replacement part for that model. Another vendor had been there 2 hours and failed, but

Technician came out the first time and did a thorough inspection of the unit. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. After testing almost every component, he determined that the motor unit needed to be replaced. He ordered the part and came back a week later to install it. Before replacing the motor unit he tried replacing the rotor sensor, which was much easier and faster than replacing the motor would have been. Unfortunately, due to their strange pricing structure, this did not result in much cost savings compared to replacing the motor unit. Overall I was very happy with the service. But it was definitely expensive for the work performed and the odd pricing structure caught me off guard.

They damaged property, they broke things. I can't believe this. When they came back, the guy,
Boston Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
, said "Oh that's not bad..." I have a gouge in my wood floor and also in my walls. I had provided blankets to put down so they would not damage the flooring, but they still did. They were not on time, exceptionally unprofessional and VERY careless. Their response to the gouge in my walls, is "oh you have paint to touch that up." The gouge goes though the paint, through the plaster and metal is showing. They did fix the dryer, however broke the washer completely in the process. Now the washer makes a loud noise during its cycle. Their answer for that was to put the washer on a low or medium setting instead of fixing it. I should also mention that my washer and dryer is less than year old. My appliances are in tight quarters and they really seemed like they were going out of their way to have to get them out again.

I have Samsung coming out to look at the washer and I will have a follow up report after they have came. If they tell me that the washer is broken and cant be repaired, then I will expect that

will be purchasing a new set and having it delivered and craned in as was the old set. I am a handicap individual and it is very difficult for me to take my things to the laundromat since my appliances aren't working correctly due to
