"Dr. and the entire rest of the clinic staff are the absolute best vet clinic ever. They truly care for the animals with all their hearts" and do whatever it takes to care for them. We love these folks. My 6 month old cat may not have a long life, but she will be as healthy and active as possible for whatever is left of her life because of Dr. and the clinic. We will come back to the clinic for any future treatments and will recommend them to anyone else we know.

"I learned of this facility back in 1995 I was home from Texas visiting my Mother and I had brought my four legged children on the trip. My male schnauzer had escaped" from the fenced yard and someone took him to this facility. The staff called the vet (in Houston Tx.) listed on his collar and got my information the vet in Houston called and informed me was at this facility. When moving back to BHM in 2005 I took my four legged children (3) to another facility that was very pricey $$$$ compared to the charges I have paid at ! I returned to when I acquired from my ex in Texas our Mini Schnauzer "Angel" that had some health issues. She was six years old and weighed only 7 lbs. after dental surgery (removal of ten teeth), and lots of visits to Dr. this "Angel" weighs 16 lbs. and is in very good health for a fourteen year old Mini Schnauzer. Vet called before Angel's surgery and explained everything that they were going to do at 1:38PM and at 4:06pm Dr. called and let me know that Angel was just waking up and everything went well during the surgery and what she had to do to close up the gum area! I am very impressed at how does not charge as much as other vets in around the area. In 2011 we said good by to another one of our schnauzer "Darbee" that was treated by the vets at very aggressive and kept her well with medication (Thyroid, Heart murmur, Pancreas, cyst) and very comfortable, during the time her Mommy was going through Chemo! I can never express the extra mile the whole staff at went to in caring for Darbee! Thank you ! PS Punctuality B only cause several times I have waited while the Vet took care of emergencies (delivering puppies, injured animals, or animals very sick) however in thinking don't we all ourselves wait for wellness visits when urgent care is needed!

Angie's Answers

?

Hi

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
?
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

I should have written this report a long time ago. My wife and I have been taking or dogs to Dr. for 15+ years. Some of those years were at a previous clinic before he went off on his own at .

When we moved to we brought a Doberman with us. The old man passed on ...More and we got a Scottish Deerhound so that we could bring the dog to work in a retail store without customers being frightened. Every breed or group of dogs has its own particular problems and sight hounds are particularly sensitve to some drugs and anesthetics. We called the local Greyhound rescue group to find a Vet who was good with the group and we were referred directly back to Dr. who has been treating our Deerhound fot the past 9.5 years.

Dr. is a knowledgable and caring Veterinarian. He is gentle and kind to both the animals and their owners. His staff is caring as well. I can't imagine bringing my dog anywhere else even though it is way across town from our house.

I first went to about 1 year ago, with a local stray who "adopted" me. I wanted to have him checked for general health, and to have him vaccinated. The clinic was a good experience for all: the staff was professional and attentive, with little waiting involved. I returned this year for the same services, with the ...More same satisfaction. Please note, the clinic has recently moved -- they are now located at 829 38th St. S., very near the Silvertron Cafe.

did extremely well. She was there for just a few hours and came home with some oral medication. We returned for a week's follow up and it was healing nicely. Sutures were removed in another week. I have used Dr. for all my cats and I can honestly say he and his staff are my all time favorites. ...More He is not looking for elaborate ways to fix a problem but goes for the most , efficient cure/outcome. We have had only excellent outcomes with Dr. . I have actually told his staff that they don't charge enough. Shots....what shots....the cats never felt it. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and quick to work you in if necessary. Dr. is the best vet I have ever encountered. We feel really lucky to have found him.

All the staff know our dog by name when we walk in and treat her very kindly. She is a very sweet dog and very good natured. We tried another place for boarding before and she had an upset stomach when she came home. They use a special dog food and you are not required to leave anything with your dog when you board them. She is always in good health ...More when she gets back home. I will continue to use for all my animals.

Overall our visits was a typical visit to the clinic. We ( , Forest and too) were warmly greeted by the staff and were seen right on time as usual. Dr. and his staff have provided excellent care for our pets for more than 25 years. I first became a client when Dr. ...More had a clinic in . When I learned he opened a new clinic in , I gladly followed. I trust Dr. , his assistant and all of his staff with my pets completely. I believe that they will treat my pets as they would their own. I recently loss one of my cats to oral cancer and the entire clinic was most sympathetic and caring during this difficult time to both me and " Balou". Dr. 's fees are most reasonable, the clinic is pristine and the staff very courteous and competent. is the best clinic that I have found in all the years I have been a pet owner. I would highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner.

This is the best vet ever. If you want someone who will love your animals and treat you with deep respect, then Dr. is right for you. His location is 45 minutes from our home, but we have stuck with him for 10 years because he offers such good care to our animals and loves them so much.

Dr. and Dr. are the main vets that have taken care of our pets for years. We adopted our cats knowing they had FIV, and these vets have been absolutely excellent at tending to their special needs. They keep up to date on the latest research in veterinary science and spent a lot of time explaining exactly ...More why a particular treatment was appropriate or not. My wife and I are scientists and ask quite technical questions sometimes. They express a genuine loving interest in animals. The above estimate of cost is irrelevant as we've not kept a running balance, but the charges always seem reasonable. Our goal was to get expert treatment for our cats, and having gotten that, we have never objected to what they charged.
